Stacy: The vampire

Chapter 2: 2 "Photos x facts"

Steve raises his eyebrow as he had something serious to say.

Steve – Real. No alterations on those.

Adam – How is that even possible?

Steve – I talk to a girl, a booker, she said it's normal to models have a lookalike, you know the drill, there's no one unique in the world.

Adam: Ok, so we presume that the theory of that german guy, about having a two of ourselves in the world its true then? Hahaha Steve, that's insane.

Steve – I don't know, but you have to admit that some strange things are happening lately, you remember the ransomed we had to allocate? They don't even look like they're held captive.

Adam – Alright, but if that's true, the "other Stacy" would have about thirty five now? And the one from the Picture, well, she's fifteen tops, doesn't make sense.

Steve – Remember what Uncle Jack taught us: "Nothing makes sense, until we understand the truth"

Adam smile. He wasn't living with his foster mom anymore, she was living in a house on the fields, ever since he moved in to the city, just as he assume his post as a police officer. Adam wasn't sure if his going to tell her about what happen in the station, his foster mother always get extremely disturbed when something new about Stacy came up. She said that the episode had shaken the entire family and that his parents suffered a lot with her sudden disappearance even they aren't that close. The thing that bothered Adam, and probably everyone, was that wasn't any sings of a kidnap, Stacy had gone out to a bookstore and right after stopped by a 7/11 for about fifteen minutes, until the driver went to look for her in the store, but she wasn't there… How it was possible? Someone vanish like that... Stacy's foster mother, Geraldine, accused the officers of hiding evidence, which was a obviously lie. After her daughter disappearance she had to move to a little town in the eats, her city mansion was invaded and plundered by Stacy's fans, the mansion was abandoned for about twenty years, the fans made a memorial of some sort, they leave candles, teddy bears and even planted some flowers (petunias) in the entryway of the place, so that the memory of Stacy was kept alive. Adam stopped by there after work, he was avoiding going back directly to his apartment of five rooms, with a open concept kitchen. He hated that mansion, because it bring back a unknow pain, unknow and deep. He realizes that the new candles and other Flowers was recently put there. The mansion was consumed by a bindweed with thorns, and the beige color that it once had, was now somewhat green because of the sludge and mold. He think about how it was the live of Stacy in that place, and after a few minutes he wasn't going home, but to Jacks place, even thou he wanted to avoid this subject with him.

Jack was pleasant on the phone, he was indeed happy to receive another human being in his ranch, the retired life it wasn't like he had anticipated, and Adam was like a son of his own. When he arrived he had already brew a strong coffee, he knew Adam loves coffee, but not any coffee a Brazilian one, a strong one.

Jack – Come in and have a sit, I just made coffee.

Adam – Wow, who's that Jack?

Jack – How is it going today, son? The PD is as messy as always?

Adam – I'm fine, and I would not say messy, more like hell.

Jack laughs fervently, but when he looked to his pupil, noticed that he was stretched in the chair, like someone that just came from the frontlines of a war.

Jack – Tell me, what happen?

Adam takes his time to answer that, organized the words, he knew that Jack was goin to be surprised with he had to say.

Adam – You remember that case, the missing model?

Jack - Stacy??

Adam – Yeah, Stacy indeed... It seems that we'll have to re-open it…

Jack – Re-open it?

Adam – Yes, we receive some photos that shows someone that looks like her.

Jack – Are you kidding me?

Adam – I wish I was… But that is what it is.

Jack – Are you the one in charge of this case?

Adam – Yeah, they assign it the call to re-open it or not to me.

Jack wasn't drinking coffee, not that he didn't like it he was found of a whisky and thanked himself for that, as the news about the old case hit him like a train.

Adam – Look jack, I didn't wanted to bring that to you, but I really needed to do it.

Jack – Have already told meg? Your mother?

Adam – No, Aunt Meg isn't going to like it and I don't know how to handle it either, so… It was you that take that case first, back in the day? How old are you back then?

Jack took a deep breath:

Jack – Yes, I was forty five yeas old, it was me and three more sheriffs, from the other counties, we did a stellar work on that one, but never found anything I know there's a lot of crooks in the force, but on that time we had an all star team, I sincerely don't know what happen to that young girl.

Adam – Funny thing is, in one of the reports it said that the boyfriend take her to the 24/7, and in other one, it said that it was the driver.

Jack – That was a silly mistake, they said that she had an affair with the driver, that was eighteen by the time, he was a bodyguard and a driver, they were seen kissing on the tenth avenue and then they though him was her boyfriend, but the boyfriend had a strong alibi, he was in a meeting with eight executives, it couldn't possibly be him

Adam – You remember how he take the disappearance? He Love her.?

Jack – Who, the boyfriend? Well, he was worried, now if he loved her or not, I can't say. The driver on the other hand, was devastated, he went in a completely shocked stated, was a strong boy, one that seems to be forged like iron, but he clearly went through something terrible.

Adam – And who was the one that contracted him? It was the mother? That high society…

Jack – No! It was the contractor the Romanian billionaire.

Adam – He contracted the bodyguard for her? ?

Jack – Yes, she was being threat and the mother was always on conflict with her, sincerely, the state is the one to blame for the disgrace of that girl, she was always neglected the mother wanted her because she was worth golf, the man wanted because they're disgusting perverts and gold diggers too, I think that no one ever see her as a human being.

Adam – That was awful, but I read on the report that she has contact with a godmother.

Jack – Was a woman from the orphanage, She died a year after Stacy vanished, it was said that it was from sadness, Stacy doesn't had a much contact with her, because her foster mom doesn't let it happen, the godmother was a volunteer on the orphanage that she lived, it was said that she even attempt to adopt her, but Geraldine beat her to it, that woman is loath.

Adam – You bring her in?? The Godmother?

Jack – We tried it, but it wasn't possible, we did exchange letters, but nothing really relevant, we don't even know her true name, already found out that the name that she used was a fake one, it should be another kidnapper of kids, that God burn my tongue if I'm making a mistake.

Adam – I don't know what to do, they expect a lot from me because I take her lastname, Abrax, they expect I made a career on top of it.

Jack – hahahah made a career, that's something I haven't heard for a while.

Jack take a long breath, drink some more whisky and then said:

Jack – If there is any new evidence, you'll have to re-open the case, there's no choice, it's the law! And for it, you'll have to analyze it all over again, from the moment she was born until she disappeared, it'll be laborious and tiring, if you want to I could help you, but I'll have to see the new files.
