Spider-Man: A New Spiral

Chapter 2: Disassembly

Waking up was rather mundane. Despite all the shocks that had happened, I woke up an hour before the alarm clock, contrary to the habits of the past. Which, by the way, always delayed the moment of awakening until the last moment. What can I say, I liked to sleep in and be late for school, though I always justified it by sleepless nights in the "laboratory". However, a small set of chemical reagents and other little things hardly fit the definition of such a big word, but what we have.

I got up and went to the bathroom to make myself pretty. Yeah, well, I haven't exactly kept up appearances in the past. Well, there's a new sheriff in town. I grabbed a comb and tidied up a little bit of my frizzy frizz. I'm gonna need a haircut.

After I finished my bath, I got my act together and started downstairs. I knew what was waiting for me.... It had to be done, sooner or later.

The kitchen was idyllic, so familiar to the Parker couple. Ben Parker sat at the table reading the newspaper. All he lacked was a pipe to portray a gentleman from the fifties. May Parker fluttered around the cooker like a housewife. You couldn't tell that this woman had started an all-female book club in lower Queens, worked in an office, and bowled on Sundays.

I came down the stairs and both heads of the people present turned in my direction.

- Good morning Peter, how did you sleep? - Uncle greeted me good-naturedly.

- Honey, I made your favourite pancakes and I'm glad you woke up early enough to keep them warm," said my aunt cheerfully.

And I stood there, unable to say a word. The memories were so overlapping.

Is it often like this in the popadanets? Here is my past life, and here is the biography of the character about whom I read, in games about whom I played, watched films and so on.

Unreal. Everyone in there is fictional.

Fictional? Then why does this tough old man have such a strong-willed and kind, understanding look? Just like my grandfather. And the woman radiates such love as if I were her son... such emotion just like my mother and grandmother.

-Good morning, good to see you- I come over and hug both my relatives in turn.

My family. They are now all the family I have and I'll be damned if I don't appreciate them.

- Whoa, champ, what's gotten into you? - Ben asks.

- I'm smiling, trying not to arouse suspicion.

- Oh, well, at your age, that's normal. Eat breakfast, or you'll be late for school.

I nodded and started on the portion May had set out.

It seemed to go well.

I pondered as I got ready for school. Honestly I wasn't too worried, for during breakfast my uncle had brought up the Ozcorp lab tour, today's tour. So I quickly finished my meal and ran upstairs, threw on jeans and a blue sweatshirt, stuffed the necessary things into my backpack, and headed for the door.

- Pete, can I pick you up after the tour? - Ben offered.

- No thanks, Uncle. I wanted to walk home.

- That's your business. Don't take too long.

- I won't, thank you," I grabbed the doorknob.

- Don't forget your lunch, Peter," May handed me the bag of food.

- Thank you, Auntie, you're wonderful! - I said goodbye to my family and headed out the door.

When I got to the bus stop, I realised I'd got off too early. But I had time to think.

What do we have? On the plus side, I'm at the very beginning, the canon is still in its infancy, many ties have not been formed, alliances have not been made and many roads are available.

What's my point? In the past, I've had to think a lot about good, evil and the variables that surround us. And what man hasn't wondered about such questions. So, if. Exactly IF I do become Spider-Man...which road should I take? I'm not exactly Peter Parker. His idealistic picture of the world is blurred by the experiences of another guy who has seen... different things. And he had his own subjective opinions on a lot of moral issues.

Well, I'm not gonna become a supervillain. It's not too lucrative. And I'm kind of a normal guy, so why go for the supervillain giggle?

Seriously, though. I told you I'm not like Parker, I'm just maybe not perfect enough, more selfish and hot-tempered. Dark.

That's where the downside comes in. To choose a path, you need to know what road you want to take and keep moving, only in the sure path is the key to success.

My thoughts were interrupted by the horn of a yellow school bus. I got up and stepped into the vehicle.

Yeah, it's like a scene from a Raimi film, the seats are closing, they're turning away. Oops, footstep, gently stepping on the foot and satisfied, under the mat of the one who put his foot out, we get to the final seats in the tail. Mission accomplished.

School. So much for that word... disgusting memories. And okay, the guy from the past still had a pretty decent day, but Parker was saved by his studies. With social life... well, it's hard to even call it life. Existence. Since the first classes, constant spanking from Flash Thompson, a complete lack of friends, the envy of other students to success and here you have the perfect recipe for a closed in himself, insecure nerd. That's okay, we'll fix it.

Once I got to Midtown High, which is the name of the school, I waited for everyone to get off the bus and tried to sneak into the school building, because, of course, somewhere nearby....

- Nunya Parker!

Shit, of course.

I turned round and, sure enough, there was Eugene "Flash" Thompson, my headache since third grade, surrounded by the football team chorus and the cheerleaders.

- What are you doing going to class without getting your morning punching bag? - smirked the blond man, kneading his fists.

- I'm sorry, tough guy, but I had a big breakfast today, so you can save this one for the others, bye-bye," he said, deciding to give me an immediate kick.

Yes, the escape is not very heroic, but as long as the spider forces are not with me, we'll escape from the bullies, and then we'll see, maybe I'll teach them lessons.

I made it to class relatively unscathed. I can openly say that Parker was quite a hardy young man, except for a weak jock. He took the desk on the edge by the window, in the front row. So Physics, well, I'm good at it, thanks to my natural talent. As time went on, the room began to fill up and, later than everyone else, the teacher came in.

- Before the beginning of the class, I would like to introduce a new student, class, - after the professor's remark, a medium-sized pretty blonde girl entered the classroom. - Please introduce yourselves.

- I'm Gwen Stacey, I hope we can be friends," the girl said with a cute smile.
