Space-Space Fruit in One Piece

Chapter 9: 9: Gan Fall

Two figures lay on the ground. Covered in blood and barely conscious, Eren and Enel lay about 100 meters apart.

Both were completely drained of energy. They couldn't even move a finger, let alone continue their fight. They would have trouble even using the most basic abilities of their fruits.

Even though they were out of energy, neither of them had really been injured enough to endanger their lives.

Eren had suffered mostly first and some second degree burns from the last lightning strike. He could have left the battle unharmed, but instead he decided to confront Enel head on.

He wouldn't gain strength by simply teleporting away. He needed to be in real danger in order to evolve quickly, and from the battle, he noticed that this method was very effective. In their fight, which lasted barely an hour, he made almost three weeks of progress in Armament and Observation Haki.

Of course, he and Enel usually fought every day, but it was never this intense. At the moment, neither of them would heal until tomorrow or the day after.

Enel had mostly suffered cuts all over his body from Eren's space shuriken. He was able to block most of them with his Lightning Bubble and Armament Haki, but since he was still not able to stop all of them, he also suffered quite a bit. A little might be an understatement, as he was constantly losing a considerable amount of blood, but it was nothing he couldn't heal with his high vitality.

At that moment, Enel was suddenly alerted of an approaching figure by his Observation Haki, and although both he and Eren were injured, he wasn't really worried because no one on Sky Island knew Armament Haki. Whoever it was, they wouldn't be able to hurt his Logia form.

After a few moments, a figure appeared a few hundred meters away from Eren's position. It seemed to be a relatively old man with a long white beard.

He wore a knight's armor and wielded a lance. All in all, he looked like a normal knight, but what made him stand out was his horse, if you could even call it that.

It was completely pink with red spots all over its body. It also had white, feathery wings that seemed completely out of place. It was just a very strange creature.

'Looks like our commotion has alerted the current god of Skypiea, Gan Fall,' Eren thought as he obviously recognized the man in front of him.

Even Enel was a bit familiar with him, as he had already developed his advanced method of Observation Haki, which allowed him to pick up electromagnetic waves. He basically observed the entire Sky Island complex most of the time, so it was clear that he would have noticed the suspicious flying knight already.

"What brings you here?" Eren asked frankly, since he wasn't afraid of the man in front of him at all.

Gan Fall seemed slightly startled, as he hadn't expected someone who was so vulnerable at the moment to be so direct.

"As you can imagine, your fight has caused quite the stir. As the current ruler of Skypiea, I just wanted to make sure that you don't have any ill intentions towards its people."

Gan Fall was just as he was portrayed in the anime. Very cautious and peace-loving. Most other rulers would have tried to eliminate such strong foreigners in their territory, but not him. He just wanted to make sure that they wouldn't cause any chaos.

"Don't worry, we don't have any bad intentions," Eren replied clearly. "After all, we are both citizens of the sky island. We were born in Birka and just left for the first time today."

This stunned the Sky Knight. He had never imagined that such powerful people existed, let alone that they lived right next to him.

"Well, it's good to hear that you have no ill intentions. Though I would like to ask why the two of you decided to leave Birka?"

There were other things he wanted to ask as well. For example, why the two of them had fought so hard when they obviously knew each other so well, but he didn't dare.

"Well, at first, we were planning to finally visit the blue sea, but now that I have seen you, our plans might change."

When he heard Eren's ominous words, his expression changed just like their plans. "Would you like to elaborate?" He asked with a hint of awareness in his face.

"Oh, not much, we just want to end the centuries old conflict between Skypieans and Shandorians with overwhelming force."

Eren had actually thought about this before. What were his goals in the world other than to survive? He realized that he needed dreams of his own to really reach the top of the world one day. And his dream was quite simple:

End the suffering of the common people in the One Piece World, eradicate the celestial dragons, and turn the world into a true democracy, or at least something comparable.

Injustice had always bothered Eren. As a former and current human with common sense, he felt that it wasn't fair for pirates and world nobles to act as they pleased.

Of course, this excluded 'pirates' like Luffy who were more of an adventurer, but even he had to follow some rules.

To bring true justice to the world, he would have to start somewhere. The most obvious place was obviously Sky Island.

Thanks to the efforts of Gan Fall, the Shandians and Skypieans were not far from peace, at least closer than they had ever been in the last centuries. Aside from the fact that peace was comparatively easy to achieve, Sky Island also had immense strategic value, which made it the perfect starting point for Eren's journey of spreading peace.

It was extremely hard to reach for the Marines and the World Government, but not for Eren with his Space-Space fruit. This would make it a good base of operations for any of his future ventures. It would also be a good retreat if he needed to hide for some time in the future. All in all, it was just perfect.

Gan Fall, on the other hand, was less than pleased. Even though peace sounded great, to hear that Eren wanted to achieve it with overwhelming power went against his morals.

Eren, on the other hand, didn't have such concerns. He believed that any way to achieve peace through power was justifiable, as long as that power was not used to mistreat or kill innocent people. He obviously had no intention of killing any random Shandorian, so Gan Fall really had nothing to fear.

"I'm afraid I can't agree with you," the current god of Skypiea suddenly interrupted Eren's train of thought. It seemed as if he had been wrong and Gan Fall really did have something to fear.

"I'm afraid I don't really care. After all, there's nothing you can do to stop me." Eren was confident and even grinned at Gan Fall. It didn't look very cool, though, since he was still lying paralyzed on the ground in a pool of his own blood.

At that moment, Gan Fall's eyes became determined. He tightened his fingers around the shaft of his lance and signaled his horse-bird abomination to move towards Eren.

"I am sorry that it has to end like this, but you only have yourself to blame. While your goals were right, your methods were corrupt!" With these words, he finally tried to pierce Eren's heart, but obviously did not succeed. His body had elementalized when he noticed the threat, so Eren didn't even take the slightest damage.

It seemed as if Eren's body was enchanted with thorns, as Gan Fall was the one who actually suffered from the attack. However, it was only mental damage.

"How could that be? Why didn't you die? I must have pierced your heart," the god still struggled to comprehend the reality of what had just happened.

Eren, who had regained some of his energy, simply ignored his brief mental breakdown. Instead, he finally focused on Enel, who hadn't said anything during the entire conversation.

"Enel, it's time to go... Enel?" It seemed as if the God of Thunder had fainted from excessive blood loss. "Well, nothing can be done about that. Anyway, we will probably see each other tomorrow Gan Fall, or maybe the day after. It mostly depends on how I feel."

Finally, Eren teleported himself and Enel back to their mansion. This should have surprised Gan Fall once more, but he was still preoccupied with the earlier incident.

After a few seconds, he regained his bearings and retreated towards Skypiea. He had decided to gather his allies and ask for help from the Shandians as well. Since they were now facing a common threat, there might be some hope for cooperation.

Meanwhile, Eren had managed to get Enel into his bed and put some bandages on him, making him look like a mummy.

Finally he was done and could lie down in his own bed. "Nothing beats a long night's sleep after a hard day."
