SoulLand:Ascending to Godhood through Science

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: The Six-Dimensional Assessment of You Chen's Martial Spirit

"Sanctuary of the Sacrifice."

In the Yu-Gi-Oh card game, its effect allows the card to be sacrificed to negate and destroy the effects of cards like spells, traps, and monsters, and then resurrect Stardust Dragon during the end phase. From the description, it's more than just a defensive skill; it also has the ability to counterattack. If fully adapted to this world, it should be a versatile soul skill with both offensive and defensive capabilities.

However, reality proved different. This was purely a supportive and defensive domain skill! As a defensive and protective domain skill, when activated, any attacks received will accumulate soul power within the domain. The user can mark allied units within the domain, redirecting their damage and attacks to themselves, accumulating soul power accordingly.

The accumulated soul power can be used to grant a period of absolute invincibility or to perform a healing. Even against attacks from a Spirit Emperor, it could weaken them by over 50%, and this weakening effect applies to poison, curses, mental attacks, and other methods. In simple terms, when this domain is activated, the defensive resistance of You Chen and his allies is significantly enhanced.

It's undoubtedly a powerful soul skill!

But You Chen always valued the enhancement of his martial spirit more than the power of a single skill. The strength of a soul skill is temporary, but the change in a martial spirit determines how far he can go!

The transformation of his martial spirit was so significant that just the increase in strength was at least double what it had been! Stardust Dragon was famously fast, so the increase in strength was merely a bonus!

Slightly glancing at his arm, where once only thin white scales appeared under martial spirit possession, now the entire hand transformed into a powerful and sharp dragon claw! Feeling the changes post-martial spirit possession, You Chen's eyes shone brightly.

Evolution! Such a massive change and increase, even among high-level martial spirits, was exceptional! This was undoubtedly evolution! He instinctively understood the new name of his martial spirit.

"High-Level Martial Spirit — Star Skeleton Dragon!"

You Chen, having read numerous Douluo fanfictions, naturally "borrowed" ideas as a scholar and researcher. He was particularly fond of the martial spirit attribute evaluation method from the book "Ultimate Conduction Beast Standing Above Douluo Continent."

At 13, after some minor modifications, he published it in the Spirit Hall's research journal.

The six main indicators are [Strength/Destructive Power], [Speed (including attack speed and agility)], [Toughness (defensive resilience or the strength of a tool spirit)], [Range and Endurance], [Energy (non-attribute soul power, mental power, attribute amplification)], and [Other Special Abilities (bonus points)].

Each indicator is scored from 0 to 6, with a total of 30 (+6) points.

Bonus points are listed separately because many martial spirits have special abilities that don't directly impact combat or are hard to quantify objectively. For example, abilities tailored to a specific attribute, like evil attribute special attacks, or communication abilities of the Blue Silver Emperor.

Directly quantifying these into a total score could result in high-level martial spirits being rated similarly to top-tier martial spirits, leading to unreasonable comparisons where top-tier martial spirits dominate in practice.

Additionally, some special abilities inherently affect the other five dimensions.

Indicators scored from 0 to 6 represent a progression:

0 (no related performance);

1 (basic performance level, average for low-level martial spirits);

2 (mediocre performance, average for intermediate martial spirits);

3 (strong performance, average for high-level martial spirits, advantageous for intermediate martial spirits, such as speed for intermediate agility spirits, strength for intermediate assault spirits);

4 (top-tier performance, average for top-tier martial spirits, advantageous for high-level martial spirits);

5 (superior performance, average for super martial spirits, most super martial spirits are well-rounded; 5.5 represents extreme levels for attribute energy);

6 (transcendental level, an advantage for very few super or god-level martial spirits).

Before its evolution, Stardust Hatchling Dragon's six-dimensional chart was as follows:

[Strength]: 2 (average for intermediate martial spirits)

[Speed]: 2 (average for intermediate martial spirits)

[Toughness]: 2 (average for intermediate martial spirits)

[Endurance]: 2 (mediocre soul power and physical stamina consumption, slight boost in physical activity)

[Energy]: 3 (strong wind attribute energy, mediocre stellar attribute energy)

[Special Abilities]: 2 (Dragonized wings, a general ability significantly enhancing combat power)

[Total Score]: 11 (+2)

Most primary martial spirits score around 5, while intermediate martial spirits typically range from 8 to 12 points. Being at the high end of intermediate martial spirits, supplemented by over-limit spirit rings enhancing the essence, energy, and spirit, this was You Chen's foundation for competing with high-level martial spirit masters of the same rank.

The Star Skeleton Dragon's attributes have reached a higher level.

Utilizing his knowledge as a martial spirit research master, You Chen quickly assessed an approximate score:

[Strength]: 3 (strong performance)

[Speed]: 4 (top-tier performance)

[Toughness]: 3 (strong performance)

[Endurance]: 3 (slight increase in soul power consumption, but better soul power efficiency, more intuitive control in martial spirit form, reduced physical exhaustion, enhanced physical activity)

[Energy]: 4 (strong wind attribute energy, strong holy attribute energy, strong stellar attribute energy)

[Special Abilities]: ? (unconfirmed)

[Total Score]: 17

The score range for high-level martial spirits is approximately 13 to 17 points; without a doubt, the Star Skeleton Dragon's strength has reached the pinnacle of high-level martial spirits! Especially in terms of speed...

Previously, the speed demonstrated by the Stardust Hatchling Dragon martial spirit definitely reached 3 points. But in reality, the Stardust Hatchling Dragon martial spirit didn't significantly enhance limb strength.

You Chen's speed was largely due to his control over wind power. After becoming a Spirit Elder, the addition of "Dragonized" wings during martial spirit possession allowed his speed to firmly sit at the top level of strong performance.

However, this wasn't without drawbacks. Unlike inherent limbs, the newly added dragon wings consumed considerable soul power, serving only as a trump card.

But now things have changed. If previous martial spirit possession was a trimmed-down version, this enhancement is comprehensive.

Additionally, You Chen faintly sensed a "Dragonized" impulse to transform other parts of his body, similar to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial spirit's characteristics.

Yet, before he could revel in his joy, he furrowed his brow, sensing something amiss.

He realized he couldn't fully unleash his martial spirit's power.

Soul power, it was the soul power!

His soul power was restricted to the level 20 range. Due to insufficient soul power output, the martial spirit's amplification naturally diminished.

Moreover...

'Summon spirit rings!'

Only a solitary black spirit ring circled around him.

"..."

A huge wave of panic surged within him.

Being already in his thirties, with vitality beginning to decline, starting anew from level 20—even with martial spirit evolution—would make reaching level 70 before fifty impossible!
