Chapter 98 – Город Крови
Red soil with dry, leafless, crimson-stained trees decorated the landscape as far as the eye can see. What ponds and lakes exist are stained red, filled with fish, eels or other blood-path aquatic lifeforms which swim freely in it. In one area lies a hill filled to the brim with crimson flowers. A fountain of blood is pumping up, well, blood, which flows from the very top of said hill, irrigating the landscape with much-needed mineral-rich and energy-dense blood.
Every inch of this small country-sized micro-plane is plagued with an intense stench of blood. Some are sweet, almost like wine, while elsewhere it smells like the blood of a rotting corpse.
In a corner of the micro-plane, a dimensional door opened up, and two figures entered. The dimensional door closed up violently as Mordred had done something to the portal. Until he fixed it, the main world would have problems connecting with this micro-plane.
Thud! The two figures instantly fell into the ground like puppets whose strings were cut.
Machine entities, at least ones that operated with electricity as the foundation, would be dependent on the dimensional laws of lightning. Mordred’s body is a machine, and in this world where the dimensional laws of lightning are suppressed greatly, the operation of a machine would be greatly disturbed.
One such example would be the natural property of electric current that flows to the path of least resistance that can be altered or even reversed. A low-voltage wire can suddenly combust due to the sudden electric spike, or a high-voltage resistor suddenly amplifies the electric current, so on and so forth.
< Initiating Dimensional Adaptation Protocol… >
One of Mordred’s contingencies instantly activated. He never visited this micro-plane before, so he has no environmental data regarding this small world. His Operating System immediately gathered the environmental data and updated his body, broadcasting new information towards the nanomachines which would engineer the body to fit with the current dimensional laws.
After three long seconds, Mordred’s body woke up. “This is worse than I thought. There’s barely lightning-path dimensional laws in this world… Is the current Lord Erebus so dumb that they don’t know the basics of Resource Dimension Management?” Mordred clenched his fist multiple times, feeling the strength of his arms. He touched the head of Lupusrazor once more, updating the AI with the newest version, which added the environmental configuration for the new world.
“Well then…” Mordred perked up his ears, his passive sonars sensed the presence of vampires approaching his position. “My [Active Dimensional Sonar] is picking up a large amount of intelligent vampires. They are holding up in a city? It’s a vampire nesting ground, complete with a cycle of death, society, and economy by itself. That Haemodominari vampire has erected a Gorod Krovi, as expected.”
“Wuu!” Lupusrazor howled in a low voice. Others would only hear a wolf’s howl, but it actually contains information-path and sound-path profundity. It could be said that it was a new language that Mordred made for Lupusrazor. To Mordred, it was a request for taking out more units.
“Yeah, I’ll take them out.” Mordred touched his dimensional storage ring. Large numbers of Fenris Wolf Broodlings are quickly being taken out, each automatically updated with the latest software under the presence of Mordred.
Lupusrazor instantly established a mental network amongst his Wolf Broods, each broodlings amplifying computation and tactical efficiency of each other by 10%. When there’s 50 of them in the field, the advantage stacked to the cap, which was around 400%.
Each Broodlings instantly gathered around 5 of each other, creating a total of ten 5-wolf squads. The spectacle might not be overwhelming because each of these wolves are roughly half the size of a horse, but Mordred is not worried about morale at all.
In the first place, most mental warfare and blood-path methods won’t be effective against them. All of his wolf broodlings run on blood-strain nanomachines instead of real blood. It needs to be said that these broodling squads are not equivalent to mass produced puppets, they are extremely powerful in their own right.
Due to the lack of magic material diversity, Mordred couldn’t engrave magical runes on them. In exchange, he used myriad modules (biologicals equivalent would be genetic-engineered organs) instead.
Some had Kamikaze Mod which, like its name, allowed them for a suicidal, last-ditch attack. Others would have Effulgence Weapon Mod, which is Mage Armor-equivalent for offense instead of defense. Desert Swimmer Mod, the one that allowed their whole body to oscillate in high frequency and swim in low-density earth. So on and so forth, but most importantly, Brood Pack Mod is installed in each of them.
Sensing the approaching waves of vampire thralls, Mordred experiences a flashback. “If I were Intelligent Metal, I would drown this plane with gray goo… but I don’t excel in von Neumann self-replicating machines.” He was merely distracted for a brief second before he turned serious. “There’s no time for reminiscing about the past, let’s begin the hunt. Lupusrazor, take Zeta-8 formation. Morrigan, proceed as planned.”
“Okay daddy!” Morrigan exited Mordred’s chest as she took the form of a small fairy-like creature. On her back were two pairs of bat wings, each flap producing red blood-like lightning sparks. She immediately went towards the nearest blood pond amongst the dry tree forest, her figure and presence immediately disappeared after she dived down to the blood pond.
“Wuu!” At the same time, Lupusrazor howled. All of his broodlings slowly stood up, their mechanical body shifted from the shape of a wolf into a werewolf that stood with two legs.
Once more, Mordred touched his dimensional storage ring, taking out magic machinery weapons and armors which include but are not limited to; chainsaws, chainswords, heat sabers, vibro-blades, railguns, thunder hammers, and many more.
Each of the werewolves took at least one ranged or a melee weapon in their arms. Their presence instantly changed from a pack of wild beasts into a ferocious, well-disciplined army.
“Spare no ammo, slaughter them all.” Mordred commanded, his mind connected to Lupusrazor’s AI to oversee the whole combat. He climbed up onto Lupusrazor’s tall back and started to sing a song.
The sound literally reverberated into the whole plane, it was a killer move with a scale never before seen after his fall under the hand of the Braves. The dimensional laws reacted to his vocals, it shuddered as the whole plane changed drastically. Temperature started to fluctuate, wind of unknown origin blew hard, creating cumulonimbus clouds despite the lack of vertical space in the plane.
While this was happening, a swarm of vampiric wolves, gargoyles, humanoid thrall battleslaves, and numerous other vampiric beasts met with 50 mecha-werewolves in a brutal slaughter.
….
A few moments earlier, within a dark room.
“Ahn~ Ah!” Sensual moans reverberated in the room as a man and woman exercised together. The woman is of an extremely pale skin tone, almost paper-white, while her face is flushed red. She has an immature, petite figure that barely reaches 140 centimeters from top to bottom and her head is covered by long and straight, pure silver hair that flows naturally like quicksilver.
As for the man, although he isn't as pale as her, his face was also flushing red with excitement. His body is on the skinny spectrum, but he has 1.8 meter tall body height, which significantly dwarfed the petite girl. His short, blood-red crimson hair is the same color as his pair of eyes.
Naturally, the difference in body frame simply made the petite woman tighter than any that the man had ever tasted before. Furthermore, she was trained in a way that granted her various methods of amplifying ‘the experience’. She was the best sex toy that the man had ever created.
On the height of their sexual activities, an alarm suddenly rang.
The man frowned, but he had been screwing her pleasurable, soft body for many hours, edging and torturing her with pleasure to the point that her consciousness barely hangs on a thread. However, he has yet to finish her ‘training’. Until she ‘submits’ the training must not stop. Otherwise, the effort would be going up in smoke.
With the alarm suddenly ringing, he must choose between continuing his hobby or work.
Of course, he chooses work.
He increased the piston-movement of his waist, quickly finishing with one last thrust, but instead of ecstasy, his face revealed an expression only comparable to if someone had just told him there was dog shit in what he just ate.
After draping a red robe to cover his own body, he immediately left the room, not concerned about the petite woman being able to leave the room before he came back to finish the ‘training’. After all, he had just fucked her silly. He was confident that no woman would be able to hold a candle to him who had total control of his own blood circulation.
As for the woman, after the man left, her ecstasy-ridden face disappeared, completely replaced with disgust and self-loathing. The woman then cried herself to sleep in frustration and anger.
…
When the man reached his command center, various beauties with crimson iris on black sclera and draped in sexy, lingerie-type wedding dresses stood up to salute him. He waved his hand and the vampire brides, his, in equal parts harem and elite units, returned to their tasks, sitting in front of blood mirrors which served as screens.
“Report!” The man ordered, his face still containing a glimpse of anger.
“Lord Erebus, we have two intruders who breached the portal at coordinate X561.988, Y996.665!”
The man, Lord Erebus himself, visibly had his mood dropped. “An Alarm of the highest level is triggered just for TWO intruders?” His tone contains unrestricted anger. “Do all of you have Brain Rot?”
The vampire bride who reported faced downwards, not daring to look Erebus in the eye. “My Lord, one of the two intruders is an enslavement-path master, they are using mecha-werewolves matched with the characteristics of the Fenris Wolf Brood.”
“Fenris Wolf Brood?” Lord Erebus glimpsed at the vampire brides who’s interacting with a blood mirror to see the situation at the front line. “But the Fenris Wolf Brood is extinct after the last calamity.” he muttered in a low voice.
The blood mirror showcased the situation where his prized slave army are being systematically slaughtered by mecha-werewolves.
In melee, the werewolves used high-tech magic machinery weapons that shredded most of the vampiric beast army’s defenses as if they are wet tissue. At long range, the Fenris Wolf Broods are using missiles, railguns, and other attack which include but not limited to, frost cannon breath, lightning bombs, tactical missle artileries, et cetera.
They were like meat grinders that processed raw meat into the best meat patties. The efficiency of the mecha-werewolves' battle tactics are nothing to scoff at.
"As far as my intelligence goes, Grand Mage Haruhito, the Tactical Horde Mage Tower’s Tower Master, doesn't have Mecha-Fenris Wolf Brood. This isn’t him trying to purge me… but this means the Mage Tower is compromised.” He asked the vampire brides, “Did something happen in the main world?”
The oldest, most authoritative vampire bride hastily answered. “Tactical Horde Mage Tower’s IC enacted the highest battle readiness state, before recalling it two seconds later. In addition, our dimensional connection with the main world is somehow disturbed, our rate of time is compromised. We are unsure what has caused this, but it seems like this is an attack on us…”
“The invader has a good idea on how the information flow of the Mage Tower operates.” Erebus grimace, “We shouldn’t expect assistance from Mitsubachi, Shiroari, or even Grand Mage Haruhito.” He then proceeded towards the highest throne within the command center, his eyes becoming serious.
The decadent man who tortures women for enjoyment is no more. Erebus had quickly transformed into a man worthy of his position, a Lord Inquisitor.
“Gargoyle Squad, take formation Alpha-1 and proceed with haste. The Warrior-Thrall Units shall follow the fliers after a two second delay in a Crescent Moon-2 Formation. Wake the Bomb Squads up and start digging, I expect them to be ready in 30 seconds!” He barked orders incessantly.
In an instant, the command center has become an intellectual battlefield between Lord Erebus with Mordred.
…
“Oh…” Mordred touched his chin in amusement, feeling the movement of the vampiric army having changed. “Lord Erebus is now in control…”
Splatter! A gargoyle as big as a human approached Mordred, thinking he was the head of the snake. The poor half-bat half-human beast has been killed by Lupusrazor who made a quick sound breath attack, exploding its body into thousands of little pieces. Its flesh, blood, and bone matter has become another decoration in the battlefield.
Naturally, this wasn’t the first, nor the second time it has happened.
As Mordred continued to sing lyrics that only he knows the true meaning of, the natural laws of the world constantly changing under his scrutiny like a toddler with playdough. He knew that Erebus must’ve realized what he had done, thus the increase of suicidal attacks towards him, but he didn’t actually care. Lupusrazor has become a guardian that completely protects him from harm, be it from the air, land or underground threat.
The most annoying units in Lord Erebus’ side was the bomb squads. They are a type of dog-sized vampiric mole beast which has been genetically engineered to have an explosive sack within their belly. Perhaps Erebus himself have some knowledge regarding the bloodline of Bloodscourge Vampires, allowing him to somewhat replicate their bloodline abilities and bestowed them towards his blood-slaves.
To counter this, Lupusrazor has been repeatedly firing sound breath cannon towards the ground, triggering the mole’s explosive bellies from afar. It doesn’t matter if the soil protects them from attack, in the first place, Lupusrazor sound breath attack is directed vibration, and vibration travels better in solids than gas or liquid.
After the first suicide bomb squad ambush, the Mecha-Fenris Wolf Brood no longer suffered harm from their underground attacks.
As the battle progresses, both vampiric beasts and mecha-werewolves are starting to fall. Casualties piled up on both sides as Lupusrazor tried its best to direct his mecha-broods to fight against Lord Erebus’ blood-slaves. Of the original 50 mecha-werewolves, they quickly fell to 40 in less than ten minutes as Lord Erebus started to use more brutal tactics in exchange for more results.
Of course, each mecha-werewolves that fell is followed up by a conflagration of lightning and fire, courtesy of the Kamikaze mod.
Hundreds of vampires have fallen, and thousands are more to come. Yet, Mordred continued to casually sing under the protection of Lupusrazor.
“It seems like he wasn’t that dumb…” Mordred observed as his song entered the second phase. The temperature quickly dropped as frost began accumulating on the soil. “Lupusrazor, you should take the field, the enemy has started to use their elites…”
“Wuu!” As Mordred jumped from Lupusrazor’s back, the towering alpha mecha-werewolf dived head-first towards the red soil. The earth immediately became the finest sand particles as Lupusrazor’s body quickly swam in the earth.
The alpha werewolf soon resurfaced on the battlefield between a strength-path Warrior-Thrall who had overwhelmed a mecha-werewolf through its brute strength. The humanoid vampire brute had a large frame, he had broken the werewolf’s heat saber, arms, and one of its eyes with his bare hands. Just as he was about to end the disabled puppet, Lupusrazor’s large frame jumped out from underground, completely severing the warrior-thrall’s body into two-halves.
Then, Lupusrazor stared at the incoming vampires, sneering. “Wuu wuu!” Lupusrazor howled, its shoulder opened up to reveal 48 holes filled with distal phalange-sized missiles.
If translated into human language, its howls would be “Rank 1 necro-path killer move, [Death by Capital Punishment: Firing Squad]!”
Boom! Boom! Boom! Ice and frost winds exploded within the ranks of the warrior-thralls as the missiles hit them, but vampires were not afraid of ice since it is their natural element.
Due to their bloodline originating from a vampire from the Seas of Eternal Winters, they have high resistance towards ice and snow. Unfortunately, Lupusrazor’s missile have been mixed with ectoplasmic substance that would freeze the soul instead of merely on the physical level. The vampires who got frozen by the missiles have had their souls severely wounded, some instantly killed.
“WUUU!!!” Lupusrazor did not stop there, using an omnidirectional saturation attack with his howl; he endured blood spears, blood arrows, blood rays, and other blood-path attacks with his large frame. Lupusrazor lacks the defensive powers of Mordred’s AT-Field, but it doesn’t mean he is weak.
As Fenris Wolf Brood’s Heroic Unit, he is the alpha, the best of its kind. Myriad resources have been poured into it both by Mordred and by Larissa. Even without the AT-Field, he is still able to endure most rank 1 attacks with his magnetic armor module and vibrating armor plates.
Still, just because it can doesn’t mean it should.
Lupusrazor quickly dived down underground to evade while once more, ambushing the unsuspecting vampires with his claws, fangs, or sound breath when he resurfaced before submerging once more. With their alpha’s lead, two 5-wolf squads followed suit, diving underground and began interfering with the battle through their annoying guerrilla warfare tactic.
After Lupusrazor began this tactic however, more and more suicidal charges have been attempted to take Mordred’s life, but the man is simply a monster in battle.
….
“Gun-Kata… a martial art-esque combat style of using small firearms, typically handgun or pistols, in short range combat. It is quite famous in the Land of Sand and Fire, there’s even a clan who deepened this combat style there… but he doesn’t seem like one of those desert people…” Lord Erebus frowned, explaining Mordred’s combat style to his Vampire Brides. One of the blood mirrors are currently showing Mordred’s figure who continued to sing while driving off the suicidal charges of the gargoyles or warrior-thralls that came after his life.
The two pistols in Mordred’s hand seemed to be powered by magic, there was a lack of bullet casings being ejected by them despite having fired over 100 times, each lightning projectile had the power to break a Gargoyle’s skull with each hit. In exchange, the man in question has reloaded the large-caliber pistols with potion-like bottles that contain dubious blue liquids repeatedly.
“My Lord, 10% of the total vampires in our Gorod Krovi has been murdered…” One of the Vampire Brides reported the casualty of the battle.
“The battle had barely started 15 minutes ago and they had killed so many of my units?” Erebus touched his chin as he pondered.
“Mobilize all of our combat units and… prepare the biochemical suit.” Lord Erebus’ expression reveals a grim determination. “We must not let him finish his ritual…”
The vampire brides gasped as his order. “But My Lord… the biochemical suit isn’t perfect yet… The backlash of using it…”
“Silence!” The vampire lord violently rebuked his Vampire Brides who expressed worry for their master. He pointed at Mordred through the blood mirror. “This guy… is preparing a terraforming-class killer move. It is best if we don’t let him finish whatever he is doing right now.”
