Soul Land:The Dragon King's God of Nature

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Jackpot! A Battle Between the Millennium Crystal Bear and the Millennium Unicorn Dragon

Inside the Spirit Ascension Platform, Jing Shaoyu continued his journey through the dense forest, letting every spirit beast he encountered become fodder for Ruby's growth. Ruby's cultivation had already reached about 1,900 years, and his goal was to push her past the 2,000-year mark.

This goal wasn't too ambitious—defeating just two millennium-grade spirit beasts would be enough. However, it posed quite a challenge for a mere 27th-ranked healing-type Grand Spirit Master.

In the primary Spirit Ascension Platform, ten-year spirit beasts were the most common, followed by hundred-year beasts, with millennium beasts as rare sightings. One could encounter a dozen hundred-year beasts without spotting a single millennium-grade one.

Today, however, Jing Shaoyu's luck seemed almost too good—he'd stumbled upon not one, but two millennium beasts at once!

A Millennium Crystal Bear and a Millennium Unicorn Dragon!

These two fearsome beasts were already locked in a fierce battle when Jing Shaoyu arrived. The sight amused him—he half-jokingly wondered if these were the same creatures encountered by the Zero Class in the original story. Amusing or not, he wasn't about to miss such an opportunity; he quickly found a well-hidden vantage point with a clear view of the battlefield.

The Unicorn Dragon was over ten meters long and almost four meters tall, with a rugged horn on its forehead that clearly bore the marks of many hard-fought battles. Built for strength, this land dragon was powerful, agile, and adept at quick attacks in complex terrain. However, it lacked ranged abilities, making it vulnerable to more agile foes.

The Crystal Bear, on the other hand, was equally impressive, if not more so. A close-combat powerhouse, the Crystal Bear's massive paws were capable of shredding the Unicorn Dragon's scales, and its crystallization ability granted it additional defenses. This was a rare and thrilling battle to witness!

Both creatures were so consumed with their fight that they didn't notice Jing Shaoyu watching from a distance. The Unicorn Dragon was in a rough state, with deep wounds across its belly from the Crystal Bear's claws, leaving its internal organs partially exposed. Even worse, the injured flesh was beginning to crystallize, showing the Crystal Bear's attacks had already weakened its prey.

Meanwhile, the Crystal Bear remained resolute, bloodlust burning in its eyes as it prepared to end the battle. With a loud roar, the bear charged forward, its massive paws raised to deliver a finishing blow to the weakened dragon.

Jing Shaoyu observed calmly, completely uninterested in intervening. He was here to pick up the spoils of battle, not to save the day. The two beasts needed to exhaust each other thoroughly so he could swoop in for an easy victory.

As the bear's enormous body lunged forward, the Unicorn Dragon froze in fear, its defeat imminent. Lacking the strength to dodge, it would soon be at the mercy of the powerful Crystal Bear. A collision with the bear would surely render it defenseless, leaving it open to the killing blow.

With a thunderous crash, the Crystal Bear's full-body slam sent the Unicorn Dragon flying into the air, landing with a heavy thud that shook the ground. Its body convulsed, blood trickling from its mouth as it lay motionless—its life hanging by a thread.

Seeing the dragon immobilized, the Crystal Bear leapt high, preparing to crush its foe with a final blow.

Jing Shaoyu knew this was the moment to act. He couldn't let the Crystal Bear land its finishing strike—otherwise, his plan to pick up the spoils would be for nothing.

Throwing himself into action, he spread his arms, unleashing a wave of vines and branches he'd been holding in reserve. The plants surged forward, some toward the airborne Crystal Bear, others coiling around the fallen Unicorn Dragon.

Caught off guard, the Crystal Bear found itself entangled by resilient vines and branches, their sturdy tendrils wrapping around it from all directions. These plants, enhanced by Jing Shaoyu's spirit power, held the Crystal Bear in place mid-air, eventually dragging it down to the ground with a crash, leaving a massive crater in its wake.

Though the Unicorn Dragon was also ensnared by vines, Jing Shaoyu's focus remained squarely on the Crystal Bear.

"Roar!" Trapped, the bear let out an enraged bellow, straining against its restraints. Despite the plants' strength, it was breaking free vine by vine.

But Jing Shaoyu wasn't about to let it escape. Taking advantage of its momentary vulnerability, he conjured a deep red fireball in his palm and hurled it at the bear's neck, where it exploded in a shower of sparks.

With a whoosh, the fire spread quickly along the Crystal Bear's exposed fur and the vines wrapped around its body, flames consuming it in seconds. Especially intense around its injured belly, the fire crept into the bear's open wounds, scorching it from within.

Howling in agony, the Crystal Bear thrashed and rolled in a desperate attempt to put out the flames, but Jing Shaoyu had no intention of giving it any respite.

Holding his left hand toward the ground, he channeled energy into the nearby grass, rapidly crafting a spear of entwined plants. The spear looked thick and unwieldy, a design flaw that might have seemed accidental but was actually intentional. The plant spear served only as an outer shell, concealing his true weapon inside.

A pitch-black spear hidden within—a weapon of pure destruction.

The Doomsday Slayer Spear!

This was the first time Jing Shaoyu had wielded his secondary spirit in actual combat, a noteworthy feat that would have made him a legend if the bear could brag from the afterlife.

He approached the struggling Crystal Bear swiftly, and with a precise strike, the spear pierced the bear's neck, its tip emerging from its forehead.

The Millennium Crystal Bear was dead.

Not stopping to absorb the residual energy coursing through him, nor paying much attention to the Crystal Bear's crystalline remnants, Jing Shaoyu turned to the dying Unicorn Dragon and finished it off with a single thrust.

The Millennium Unicorn Dragon was dead as well.

Jing Shaoyu's ease in taking down two thousand-year spirit beasts left the control room staff stunned, murmuring among themselves in awe.

"Is this kid really a healing-type spirit master? No way he is! What kind of healing spirit master would willingly hunt down two millennium-grade beasts and actually kill one? That's insane!" one staff member finally voiced everyone's thoughts.

Unconcerned by the shock his actions had caused, Jing Shaoyu directed Ruby to devour the spirit energy from both fallen beasts. After absorbing their power, Ruby's cultivation rose exactly by 100 years, putting her over the 2,000-year mark.

A satisfied smile spread across Jing Shaoyu's face as he completed his mission and exited the Spirit Ascension Platform.

High above, in the tower master's office, the red-haired woman watching Jing Shaoyu's every move showed a hint of surprise. "That spear at the end… is it part of his spirit? Or… a second spirit? And how did he summon both at once?"

Pondering the implications, she murmured to herself, "I suppose I'll need to observe him a while longer. It's been three years in East Sea City, so a little more time won't hurt."

Unaware that his secret might already be under scrutiny, Jing Shaoyu stepped out of the metal pod, barely finding his footing before Xu Xiaoyan rushed over to hug him.

"Brother Yu, I feel stronger! Maybe I won't even have to wait until I reach Spirit Elder to have purple rings!" she exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy.

"Really? That's amazing!" he replied, grinning as he congratulated her, secretly amused. This little one would be far more powerful if she'd only put in a bit more effort.

Once Xu Xiaoyu and Ouyang Zixin rejoined them, the fo

ur left the Spirit Pagoda together.

Tomorrow, the new school year would begin.
