Soul Land: I am not convinced

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: My Name is Xiao Wu

"Can you tell me why?" Yu Xiaogang asked, curious.

"Because I already have a teacher," Ye Feng replied.

"You already have a teacher?" Yu Xiaogang asked in surprise.

"Ye Feng, when did you become a teacher?" Tang San also looked at Ye Feng, confused.

"When I awakened my martial soul," Ye Feng replied truthfully.

"Awakened your Martial Soul?" Tang San paused, thought for a moment, and then asked in surprise, "Ye Feng, you didn't worship Su Yuntao as your teacher, did you?"

"Su Yuntao?" Yu Xiaogang raised an eyebrow.

"What's it to you who I worship as a teacher? Do I need anyone's permission for that?" Ye Feng asked with a slightly impatient tone, not answering the question directly.

"Worshiping someone as a teacher doesn't require anyone's consent, only the will of both parties," Yu Xiaogang responded with a pitying look, sighing as he muttered, "Every soul master can only have one mentor in their life. It's such a shame, such a good seed wasted."

Yu Xiaogang didn't know that Ye Feng's teacher was not Su Yuntao, but Sword Douluo Chen Xin, the Guardian Douluo of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile School, a Title Douluo who even the Pope of Spirit Hall would think twice before offending.

After meeting with Yu Xiaogang, Ye Feng, and Tang San received their respective clothes at the Academic Affairs Office. Tang San, having just pledged himself to Yu Xiaogang as his apprentice, was ridiculed by the office staff. As for Ye Feng, his innate soul power was at level 20, and Tang San's at level 10, both of which amazed the teachers.

Leaving the office, Ye Feng and Tang San headed toward the dormitory for work-study students, following the teacher's instructions.

"Ye Feng, I don't know why, but I feel like you've changed," Tang San said, looking at Ye Feng as they walked.

"Why do you say that?" Ye Feng asked.

"Back at the gate, I'm not sure why, but I just feel you've become much more sensible than I thought," Tang San remarked, tilting his head as he studied Ye Feng's face, trying to read him.

"Hehe, what's the matter? You just get used to it after hearing too many stories," Ye Feng chuckled, guessing that Tang San was probing him.

Tang San, being a time traveler, had a mindset far beyond that of his peers. He suspected that Ye Feng, too, might be a fellow traveler. After all, they both had twin martial souls.

While Tang San trained in the Mysterious Heaven Technique and awakened his martial soul with soul power at level 10, Ye Feng didn't know much about cultivation. But there was a noticeable difference between their soul power levels, with Ye Feng's being ten levels higher.

In Tang San's mind, Ye Feng might also be a time traveler, so he prodded him for information.

As they arrived at the dormitory building, Ye Feng's excitement grew. He knew he was about to receive another reward.

Tang San reached for the door, but Ye Feng quickly pushed it open ahead of him.

Suddenly, a sharp sound cut through the air. Ye Feng was ready. With a swift movement, he caught the attacker's fist in his palm.

The sneak attacker tried to pull his fist away, but Ye Feng had a firm grip, leaving him with no escape. Desperate, the attacker swung his left fist, aiming a left uppercut.

Ye Feng anticipated this and grabbed the incoming left fist with his other hand. The attacker, realizing his limited options, kicked at Ye Feng's lower body.

"So cruel?" Ye Feng frowned slightly.

If the kick had landed, it would have been quite painful. But instead, the attacker struck Ye Feng's knee.

"Bang!"

The sound of the attack echoed. The attacker screamed in pain as he collapsed to the ground, his face contorted from the blow.

Ye Feng let go with his hands, using a small push that sent the attacker sprawling.

The attacker, Wang Sheng, groaned in pain, clutching his legs. It was as if he'd kicked a rock instead of a person.

"Who are you, and why did you try to sneak attack Ye Feng?" Tang San asked coldly.

"If Ye Feng hadn't been so quick, it would have been me who got ambushed," he added, his tone stern as he wanted to understand the reason behind the attack.

"My name is Wang Sheng, and my martial soul is the Battle Tiger. I'm the future battle soul master, the boss of this dormitory," Wang Sheng introduced himself with a wave. Then, he gestured toward the six other work-study students in the room. "Thank you for showing mercy. By the rules, since you defeated me, you're the new boss of Dorm."

"Boss?" Ye Feng chuckled, amused by the title.

"Yes. In our Dorm, the strongest person is the boss," Wang Sheng explained with a respectful gesture.

"Yes, that's right. The boss is whoever's strongest," the other work-study students chimed in, nodding in unison.

Ye Feng smiled in amusement and accepted the title. Looking around the room, he saw there were fifty beds in total, but only eleven had bedding.

Wang Sheng's gaze then shifted to Tang San. "You're a work-study student this year too?" he asked.

"Yes," Tang San answered.

"Then you'll have to challenge the boss," Wang Sheng said seriously.

"Me?" Tang San shook his head, smiling, "Forget it, I'm here to study."

"No, no, rules are rules," Wang Sheng insisted. "We can't break tradition."

Tang San looked around at the other work-study students and then at Ye Feng, realizing that becoming the boss might bring unwanted trouble. It could interfere with his cultivation. After considering, he smiled and said, "I'm not his opponent. I was born with level ten soul power, but he has level twenty."

"What?" Wang Sheng and the others gasped. They looked at Ye Feng and Tang San as if they were seeing monsters.

At that moment, a sweet, bell-like voice rang out from the door.

"Excuse me, is this the Dorm Number Seven ?"
