Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Bibi Dong Reveals Herself
Chapter 79: Bibi Dong Reveals Herself
"Hah—"
"Su Mo, there's something I need to tell you."
Finally, after a deep breath, Bibi Dong decided to come clean with Su Mo.
She knew that sooner or later, Su Mo would discover her identity.
The Soul Master Tournament was one of the most significant events on the Douluo Continent. She believed Su Mo would certainly participate since any soul master with sufficient strength would want to compete.
If Su Mo went to Spirit Hall, he would see her as the Pope, and he'd notice her resemblance to the Holy Maiden in front of him. Explaining then would be much more complicated.
So she decided to take this opportunity to reveal the truth to Su Mo.
"Goddess Sister, go ahead!"
Seeing Bibi Dong's expression, Su Mo realized she was about to reveal her identity. He wondered how much she'd disclose.
And as for himself?
Should he also reveal something?
There wasn't really a need to keep things hidden from Bibi Dong, especially since this version of Bibi Dong was his spirit and completely under his control. He could even burn her spirit at any time if necessary.
"Let's talk inside your spirit space."
With that, Bibi Dong's figure flashed as she entered Su Mo's body.
The spirit space was indeed the safest and most secluded place to discuss this.
Su Mo smiled slightly, then sat cross-legged on the bed, closed his eyes, and focused his mind, entering his spirit space.
"Su Mo, today I want to tell you about my origins."
Seeing him arrive, Bibi Dong spoke seriously.
"But Goddess Sister, aren't you my spirit?"
Su Mo feigned ignorance, pretending to know nothing.
"It's true that I am your spirit, but I had another life and identity before becoming your spirit!" Speaking about becoming Su Mo's spirit still frustrated her, and she looked visibly displeased.
"Please tell me, Goddess Sister!"
Su Mo feigned a serious expression, as though he were genuinely unaware.
"I…" Bibi Dong hesitated, then said, "Let me tell you a story about a woman."
Bibi Dong wasn't sure how to explain, so she decided to recount her own tale as if it were just a story.
She began narrating the story of a woman, from her youthful days as the Holy Maiden of Spirit Hall, to her encounter with Yu Xiaogang, the betrayal by her teacher, and finally, to her eventual death.
"…And that's the truth. That woman named Bibi Dong is me. I don't know why I returned after death, nor how I ended up as your spirit."
With that, Bibi Dong made it clear to Su Mo that she was indeed Bibi Dong.
She then looked at Su Mo, curious to see his reaction.
However, his response was unexpectedly calm.
"Goddess Sister, there's something I need to apologize for as well."
His unexpected words surprised her even more.
Su Mo looked at Bibi Dong and decided to reveal his truth.
He no longer wanted to keep pretending, especially since Bibi Dong was completely under his control. There was no need for secrecy.
However, Su Mo chose not to mention that he had learned of her from another world's novel and anime, as he feared it might be too hard for Bibi Dong to accept that she was merely a character created in someone's imagination.
Su Mo, having experienced much, could accept this. But he wasn't sure Bibi Dong would feel the same.
Some truths didn't need to be shared in full. As long as he wasn't lying, that would suffice.
"Why are you apologizing to me?" Bibi Dong looked at him, confused.
"Because I've always known you were Bibi Dong, the future founder of the Spirit Empire!"
"I just never revealed it before since I wasn't sure if you would harm me."
Su Mo spoke with sincerity.
"What? You knew who I was all along?"
"How is that possible?"
"Who are you, really?"
As expected, Bibi Dong was stunned, completely unprepared for the revelation that Su Mo had known her identity all along. She quickly realized he might not be an ordinary person.
"I? I'm someone like you, someone who has also transmigrated and been reborn."
"That's how I know about certain events and people. I know about you, Tang San, Yu Xiaogang, and even things that will happen in the future!"
"But back then, I was just an ordinary person without any spirit power and didn't understand cultivation. For example, I didn't know anything about spirits and needed you to teach me."
Su Mo explained sincerely.
He carefully omitted the detail that he had come from another world and knew the story from a novel and anime, leaving Bibi Dong to assume he, like her, was a reborn soul.
Bibi Dong's reaction was exactly as he expected. She looked at him in stunned silence, overwhelmed.
She had never imagined Su Mo shared a similar origin to her own.
From his earnest gaze and everything she knew of him, Bibi Dong was convinced he was telling the truth.
Especially since he knew she would become the founder of the Spirit Empire. That could not be a lie.
She had thought Su Mo's accomplishments were due to her guidance. But knowing he wasn't an ordinary person, she realized he might have achieved great things regardless.
Still, knowing that Su Mo had once been a powerless ordinary person made her feel that she had played a crucial role in his achievements, especially in teaching him about spirits.
"None of that matters now. Since you know who I am, I have a request—help me kill Yu Xiaogang! Are you willing?"
After hearing his story, Bibi Dong accepted the situation but had no desire to dwell on these complexities. Right now, she only wanted one thing—to kill Yu Xiaogang.
"No, I can't."
To her surprise, Su Mo shook his head slowly, rejecting her request.
Bibi Dong, who had finally seen Yu Xiaogang's true colors and even wanted him dead, was shocked that Su Mo refused to kill him.
"Why not?"
Bibi Dong's expression turned to anger, her eyes glaring at Su Mo. She hadn't expected him to reject such a simple request.
After all, killing a level-29 soul master was something Su Mo could easily accomplish. And since he planned to leave Shrek anyway, why not kill Yu Xiaogang before leaving?
"Because I fear I wouldn't be able to withstand your wrath!"
Su Mo began to explain.
"What do you mean?"
"I'm asking you to kill him… Are you talking about the current Pope Bibi Dong?"
At first, Bibi Dong frowned, but then she realized Su Mo was referring to the wrath of the current Pope Bibi Dong at this point in time.
"Exactly. You know how deep your feelings for Yu Xiaogang were. Even after dying once, and even at the hands of his disciple, you still chased after him!"
"And you even said before that the current Pope Bibi Dong is still secretly keeping an eye on Yu Xiaogang!"
"So, if I were to kill Yu Xiaogang, do you think the current Pope Bibi Dong wouldn't be able to trace it back to me? Could I handle her wrath?"
"Besides, putting Pope Bibi Dong aside, Yu Xiaogang is still the son of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's patriarch. He's also Tang San's teacher, and Tang San has Tang Hao backing him!"
"I simply can't withstand the wrath from any of these parties!"
"So, I won't kill Yu Xiaogang for you now. Only when I'm strong enough to handle their fury will I consider it."
"You wouldn't want me to risk my own life for your revenge, would you?"
Su Mo explained earnestly to Bibi Dong.
He didn't want her to misunderstand or lose trust in him over this issue. After all, her willingness to be honest with him showed that she now trusted him.
"…"
Hearing Su Mo's sincere explanation, Bibi Dong calmed down. Considering all the possibilities he mentioned, she had to admit that Su Mo's concerns were valid.
She understood herself well enough to know that if anything happened to Yu Xiaogang, her current self—the Pope—would certainly be able to connect it back to Su Mo through subtle clues.
Su Mo's former attempt to become Yu Xiaogang's disciple, only to be rejected, would be enough for the Pope to suspect him.
Moreover, the incidents of Yu Xiaogang targeting Su Mo at Shrek Academy would be easy for her to uncover if she looked into it.
Just that suspicion would be enough. For the Pope, suspicion alone would be reason enough to kill in Yu Xiaogang's name, without needing any solid evidence.
She might not even bother investigating. If Yu Xiaogang had an incident at Shrek Academy, she could just wipe out everyone associated with Shrek.
Bibi Dong knew she was fully capable of doing such a thing.
Combined with the other reasons Su Mo mentioned, she understood his reluctance.
"So, are we supposed to just let that despicable man live in peace?"
"I can't stand it!"
Bibi Dong clenched her fists, still seething with resentment.
The deeper her past affection, the deeper her current hatred for Yu Xiaogang.
"There will be opportunities in the future. Besides, don't you think killing Yu Xiaogang outright is letting him off too easily?"
"Isn't he hoping to prove himself through Tang San? Then we'll make sure Tang San fails."
"Shattering his greatest hope, ruining his reputation, and making him wish for death would be the greatest revenge."
Su Mo's words comforted her.
He only advised this course because he couldn't afford to kill Yu Xiaogang himself yet. Otherwise, his own preference would be a swift and decisive end.
"Shatter his hope? Ruin his reputation…"
"Yes, killing him directly would be too lenient. We need to turn all his hopes into despair!"
"What should we do?"
Bibi Dong agreed with Su Mo's reasoning and felt that simply ending Yu Xiaogang's life would be too kind.
"He's leading the Shrek team. A year from now, at the Soul Master Tournament, we'll make sure Shrek Academy meets a humiliating defeat and crush his dreams!"
Su Mo suggested the most straightforward plan.
"Alright, and when do you plan to leave Shrek?"
"Why not come to Spirit Hall? With your abilities, joining Spirit Hall would be easy!"
Bibi Dong nodded in agreement, then suggested that Su Mo join Spirit Hall.
"No, I won't be joining Spirit Hall."
However, Su Mo immediately declined her offer.
"Why not?"
"If you join Spirit Hall, as long as you meet the Pope, I can assure you she'd invest in your training, and you'd grow stronger quickly."
"Spirit Hall may be defeated in the future, but that's later on. Right now, it's the most powerful force on the continent. And with your help, Spirit Hall might avoid its original fate."
Bibi Dong was suddenly anxious upon hearing his refusal.
She had been hoping for Su Mo's support in helping her current self—the Pope—as well as Qian Renxue and Hu Liena.
She wanted Su Mo to bridge the misunderstandings between the Pope and Qian Renxue, helping them to recognize each other's importance.
Hu Liena's involvement might not be necessary, as Bibi Dong doubted that Shrek's team could defeat Spirit Hall's squad.
"It's not because of those reasons. The main issue is… you, or rather, the current Pope."
"Think about it. If the Pope finds out you're in me, how do you think she'd react?"
Su Mo shook his head, pointing out the core issue.
"…"
Bibi Dong froze, stunned by his question.
She hadn't considered this angle before.
But after Su Mo's words, she realized he was indeed in no position to meet the current Pope.
If she remained hidden, it might be fine. But if the Pope discovered her presence within Su Mo, Bibi Dong couldn't guarantee his safety.
She knew herself too well. The current Pope would never allow her future self to appear as someone else's spirit. If discovered, the Pope might either extract her forcibly or, worse, destroy them both together.
Bibi Dong knew that the Pope would be ruthless enough to do it.
"Then…"
Bibi Dong was at a loss.
Her plan had been to get Su Mo away from Shrek Academy and then bring him into Spirit Hall.
But now, she understood that Spirit Hall was out of the question for Su Mo.
