Chapter 36: weakness
The Padishah emperor had been hurt, and he was seen as weak; the other great houses in the landsraad did not see him as a god. And the bene Gesserit t only helped due to duty; he had given birth to a daughter, and the queen to his three daughters was dead. He did not know of how she died, only that. She was. In truth, it was a face dancer who killed her. She was a sister of the Bene Gesserit, an order that had begun some ten thousand years ago.
Arrakis
Damon welcomed Leit into his home. They landed shortly after they landed and entered the elevator to his chambers in the keep. Below, a man and woman in still suits were building ships, small ones. At that, the sound of drills could be heard all over the base, and they all nodded when they looked in his direction. Damon never claimed to be the Lisan Al Gaib. However, the people held a deep devotion to him. From where else could you find such devotion?
Soon enough, the metallic door opened, and the grand hall was presented. it was filled with most of the Atreides soldiers who had arrived and had been taken in by Damon and his armies. To the side of the pillar was his Fedykin, his personal guard. The table that was in the hall was not there; rather, there was a compartment below it. That opened like a sliding door. That went up and down like a small elevator that hid the table from view, and when it was closed, it showed nothing but the flooring.
They looked to the front of them, and a man of ebony skin and blue within blue eyes; it was Jamis; he was the first one to step up when Damon announced himself to be Bloodworm. And now he was calming the crowd down. They all seemed discontent and grieving; Duke Leto was dead; they all knew it, and they were not foolish enough to tell themselves otherwise. The one who was quite the most was the one least expected. Gurney Halleck was quiet, quite like an owl, and only observed.
The door to the elevator and it made a dinging sound. And they all looked to the one who made the first step. Damon came first, his suit red and black linings, his hair short now and not as long as he had it. His eyes were blue within blue, and he looked like a young Duke Leto. Some of them let out small gaps. As he walked forward, they made way for him and his guards. Leaned in closer to the pillars. They bore the same crest as the Atreides, with a few minor differences. Looking
Jamis looked at his king, and the same voice repeated in his head. "Come home." and that he did. It was like a blur when it happened. He had thought he abandoned him, but as he stood there alone facing the many warriors of the Atreides, he felt assurance that he did not abandon him and that there was more to the plan. And now he saw it before him. his king in all his glory and ever more vitaler alive and walking with Leit.
Damon passed the Atreides soldiers. They thought his father was dead, and he intended not to tell anyone. of what he had done. A deal was made between the father and son. And he intended to keep that deal secured. The duke Leto was on the lower floors. His clone grows in clear and nutrient water, cell by cell. But his brain was made; he was in a place of paradise, a place that only Damon could find. Only until Paul could reach him was he in that dark place where the woman of the Bene Gesserit feared that abyss. That was not an abyss. Only the male line could see there. And all this time he had been watching, nothing was ever to chance, there is no coincidence, everything was planned, he had studied human behavior, and he knew the move they would make before they could make them.
Stepping up to the stairs and passing the snake-like state of the red worm, he sat down on his marbled and emailed throne. " I am sure many of you are confused," Damon said. There was silence when he spoke, and Gurney Halleck was silent, repeating the moment of him betraying Duke Leto by leaving him to fight to the death. Could only watch and observe the best he could. His loyalties were not to Damon but to Paul and the lady Jessica.
"My father is dead. Though I only knew for a small amount of time, I can understand he was a good man and a good leader, I know because I died with him, and now I am reborn, you might be a clone, but I am of the same mind I am not some bene telex made from DNA and the memories of my predecessor in truth there is predecessor. There is only me. "He stood before the throne and looked towards the crowd, and he sat down on his throne. "House Atreides is believed to be gone. And destroyed, however, our enemies know better than this. The Harkonnens no better than this. They know we exist but don't know where we are, and soon enough, the emperor will call on the other great houses." There were murmurs in the crowd; the men who were below were generals in the Atreides army and well-experienced fighters.
"However, that does not concern me; it will take a year and a half for him to gather so much manpower, and a game of Politics will be played, and I know the emperor would not offer his daughter when he has no son. However, they will come under one banner to fight their common enemy. Some of you believe that Arrakis is a home of sand and spice. And my brother Paul, as your leader, will unite the people of Arrakis under the false pretense of the Lisan Ail Gaib." He looked to his guardsman. Those words were not to leave this place.
"You have no friends here, you are deserted here, and your young leader is in another part of Arrakis gathering his army. I know you do not trust me, nor would I ask you to, but my father did, and he was proven right. I did my duty, and now you will do yours." There was discontent in the crowd, and some of them began to throw insults. Damon was about to tell them to be quiet when Gurney Halleck stepped up.
"Silence!" he roared. "Just because Duncan is dead, do not forget who I am. I have led many of you in battle as your commander, and I will not have you do this or insult your duke's son just because he is not here. Can't you see he has told you of Paul's survival and how he intends to fight back to get Arrakis as ours? Be happy in the small victory we have. And be prepared. The emperor is coming, and I assure you this will be a war like no other. So clean your blade and hold your tongues. And aim them not at the duke's son but at the ones who plunged their blades in him to the Sardukar, the padishah emperor, and all those who wish to take Arrakis from us." There were roars in the hall. A small smile came to Damon. Soon after the generals were dismissed, Leit, Jamis, and Gurney Halleck were the only ones left.
Is it true, did he survive?" he asked Leit the man looked at him in a somber way. Instead, Damon answered for him. "Both my mother and brother are alive; what they intend to do is up to them, but I assure you I intend not to help them in the slightest. Paul will play his part; he needs to accept to become a leader and embrace what he is called, and when he does, he will come to me," Damon said, his words cryptic and annoyed Gurney Halleck.
"What do you mean? How do you know this? Who is your source?" his voice getting higher and higher with anger. "My source," Damon repeated. He stood from his throne and went to the first step, but he did step to it but began to float." Jamis was not in the slightest surprised but the same could not be said about Leit and Gurney Halleck. "The source is me." He finished off so as not to be questioned.
