Solo Leveling: Infinite Talent

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: The Hidden Dungeon

Mai Lee's footsteps echoed through the abandoned corridor, the walls covered in vines and strange glowing fungi. The dungeon was deeper than he had anticipated, far more complex than the shallow layers he had explored. Every room seemed to hide something new—twisting corridors, sudden drops, and strange creatures lurking in the dark. He could feel the faintest hum in the air, an energy that wasn't natural, almost like a barrier between this world and something else.

"Warning: Energy signature detected. Class: Forbidden."

Mai Lee froze in his tracks. Forbidden? This was something entirely new. The system had warned him about anomalies before, but the use of the word Forbidden struck him with an unfamiliar sense of caution. There were things in the world—dangerous things—that even the system didn't fully understand.

His enhanced senses immediately went on high alert. The air around him felt charged, almost too still, like the calm before a storm.

"Hostiles detected: 3 entities. Level: Unknown."

He glanced around, but the corridor remained empty. His eyes flickered to his status window, but there was no clear indication of what was approaching. There was only the faintest flicker of movement in the shadows.

Then, without warning, a creature dropped from the ceiling above him. It was a massive, serpentine creature, its skin shimmering with iridescence, almost blending with the shadows. It had no eyes, only a pair of horns curving back toward its skull. It was a creature straight from legend, something that should not exist in this world.

"Entity Detected: [Abyssal Serpent]. Level: Unknown. Danger: Extreme."

Before he could react, the serpent lunged at him with incredible speed. His enhanced reflexes allowed him to dodge, but the sheer power of the creature's strike sent a shockwave through the air, and the stone floor cracked under its weight. Mai Lee's heart raced—this was no ordinary monster. This was something ancient, something powerful. And it was coming for him.

"Fusion Ready: Abyssal Resilience + Enhanced Reflexes."

Mai Lee activated his fusion abilities almost instinctively. His skin hardened, and his reflexes sharpened. He felt the serpent's energy ripple through the air as it coiled back for another strike.

"Activate fusion: Dragon's Might + Abyssal Resilience."

The next moment, Mai Lee surged forward with unimaginable speed. His muscles burned with the newly activated fusion, and every step felt like he was charging the very earth beneath him. His blade, now infused with the strength of both the dragon's power and the serpent's resilience, cleaved through the air with deadly precision.

The serpent hissed, rearing back, but Mai Lee was already on top of it. With a single powerful strike, he slashed the creature's side, and dark, black blood sprayed out. The serpent screeched in pain, thrashing violently, but Mai Lee was relentless. His fused strength was overwhelming, but the creature wasn't giving up so easily.

The serpent lashed out with a tail like a battering ram, knocking Mai Lee off balance and sending him sliding across the floor. Pain shot through his chest, but the fusion of Abyssal Resilience kept him from feeling the worst of it. He didn't have much time. This creature was too dangerous to let it regain the upper hand.

"Activate fusion: Dragon's Inferno Strike + Abyssal Serpent's Fury."

Mai Lee's body erupted in flames as the fire from his dragon fusion intensified, combined with the abyssal fury of the serpent. His speed doubled as his fiery aura blazed with renewed power. The serpent's eyes flickered with primal rage, but Mai Lee wasn't about to give it another chance.

He leapt into the air, aiming directly for its neck. His flaming blade collided with the serpent's flesh with the force of a collapsing star. The creature howled in agony, its body writhing in pain as it tried to escape, but it was too late. Mai Lee drove his blade deeper, severing its head with a single, devastating strike.

The abyssal creature collapsed, its body dissolving into a dark mist, leaving behind only its essence—a black, glowing core. Mai Lee stood, panting heavily, but there was no time to relax. As the serpent's form vanished, the dungeon seemed to tremble.

The system chimed in once again.

"Entity Defeated: Abyssal Serpent. Essence absorbed.""Fusion Abilities unlocked: [Abyssal Fury], [Serpent's Agility].""Experience Points (EXP): 800/1000."

Mai Lee's mind buzzed as he absorbed the core's energy. The essence of the serpent thrummed with power, and its abilities surged through him, ready to be fused into his own.

Status Update:

The glowing core flickered in his hands before fading into nothingness. Mai Lee felt his newfound abilities settling into his body, his strength growing once more. The fusion of the Abyssal Serpent's abilities had added a new layer of power to him. His speed, strength, and resilience had all increased, but most notably, his agility had soared to new heights.

He glanced around the dungeon, the vibrations in the air still strong. He could sense more of these creatures waiting for him in the darkness. But now, armed with his fusions, Mai Lee felt ready.

There was no turning back now.
