Chapter 38: Sewer
Dion had led the way while Sol followed behind him, Dion's team had become very respectful toward him.
The first time they met was when Sol tried to go home alone, he was so weak even two ratman almost killed him.
Now he had killed a predator with bloodline and even win a duel against one of Heir from the temple of Mars, the differences were like heaven and earth.
Had they not saw him made such a stupid mistake against ratman, they won't believe anyone that told them Sol Vestitor The Heir Killer was almost killed by a ratman.
Yet they silently shook their head and whisper to one another, "What a waste, if he didn't have such a hobby I would have introduced my sister to him"
"Fuck, I can hear you, you know?" Sol Complained to himself.
He was about to clear his name but he had to stop himself when a bald muscle man said, "If he didn't have such a hobby with furries I would have taken him for myself"
Sol stop himself and shiver, he distances himself from the bald man, he moved toward Dion and started talking to him.
"So any other way out? Can we reach the temples with this tunnel?" He questioned the hunter's leader.
"to be honest with you, we don't really know the way, I'm just walking toward which way I guess the temple is."
"fuck!" Sol cursed silently. "so how do we get out when we reach our destination? He looked at Dion in doubt.
"we get out from the sewer manhole but we need to dig our way out of the snow" Dion answered with more confidence this time.
"so why we didn't meet any ratman down here?" he asked after some time, it really was strange that they didn't meet any zombies in the tunnel.
"that's the strange thing, the sewer rat somehow always shrank in number even if we didn't kill them, we couldn't even find their corpse" The hunter leader reply seriously.
"and why is that?" Sol looked pointedly at Dion who looked like he was into something.
"From my guess, there is a Predator down here, one which big enough to eat a colony of ratman" he whispered to Sol like it was some massive secret.
Sol paused in his walk for a second before he continued to follow Dion, "Fuck!! There is something even more dangerous than a horde of zombie down here!" Sol lamented.
"You oke?" Dion looked at him and Sol only nodded, "its ok, the Sewer is so big that the chance we met the Predator in incredibly low" He assured Sol.
Sol would like to believe him but his track record showed him that danger always found a way to find him.
They met with a crossroads, Dion about to turn left when Nerva's voice can be heard, "Dad, the temple is to the right." Sol looked at her with a nod and lead the way to the right.
"Wait, are we really following direction from a baby?" the rude guy from his first meeting interrupted.
"If you don't want to then don't follow us," Sol said stoically and continued his way, he couldn't say that Nerva is the Heir of Minerva.
The hunters looked at Dion for a decision, " Let's follow them, I heard that Cat have their own internal compass so she may really know the way." He pointed out.
"fine" the rude guy grumbled, he seemed to disagree but he just followed his superior orders.
They had been walking for an hour, from time to time, they would meet with a group of rat-man but Sol takes care of it easily.
He had made sure to stabbed their brain even if they have been killed so they won't turn into zombies and go after them again.
They were resting for a bit when they heard the sound of rumbling from the tunnel they come from, at first they thought it was the zombie horde but there was no footstep but a sound of metal scratching against each other.
They didn't want to stay and find out what is it, Sol picked up Nerva and run down the tunnel, the other followed behind them.
"straight forward then turn to the right" Nerva said while gripping on his collar.
Sol didn't have time to reply or comfort the scared child, he runs with his all but even after a few turns, the sound was still following them.
It was getting close as time went, "Fuck! I know this was gonna happen!" he cursed his rotten luck.
They keep running but they were too far from their destination, Sol knew that Miya and Moon could outrun him but they just follow his pace because the didn't want to leave him behind.
"Moon take and her and run! You too Miya!" the turn to both his companion.
Both of them wanted to refute him but Sol just pushed Nerva into Moon's hand and screamed at them, "RUN!" Both creatures run forward with twice their original speed, leaving Sol and the hunters.
Sol and the hunters lost their guide so they just run anywhere their feet take them.
After another ten minutes of running one of the hunters screamed, "It's a giant blue snake as big as the tunnel!" he had looked behind and he could see what was after them.
It was his last word before he suddenly stopped running and was eaten by the snake.
Sol felt something familiar with this situation, "Damn it, let bet it all in this!" he resolved himself.
Sol stopped running and turned back, "Run, I will hold it as long as I can!" He screamed at the remaining hunter.
He wasn't about to heroically want to sacrifice himself, but he didn't want to be seen in case his bet was correct.
