So The third life is a healing one?

Chapter 8: The Actress Plays Peace

"Why do I feel something is about to go down?"

[What could you possibly mean, master?] Luxion asked

I mulled over it for a good moment before giving a satisfactory response.

"Probably nothing" though I doubt that to be true at all. I went back to enjoying my drink, taking a few sips at a time.

....

"What of it?" I said in the calmest mood I could muster, freaking out that I'm talking to the antagonist.

"It's just... I was wondering if you have seen him." The villainess replies in kind. I could feel my heart beating slightly faster.

"Oh." The only word Olivia could muster to blurt. How in the world should I answer that?! Do I say Olivia here slapped the prince and I cried tears of joy to witness such a spectacle.

And they were complete strangers to one another. So it adds more reason to being a horrible idea

I can't let Olivia talk as I don't know how well she can deceive her. It's up to me to avoid her from knowing the truth, "We met him at the garden. I have to say he was... unexpected."

Angela looked at me, "Is that right?" Her eyebrows furrowed upwards likely interested in the info.

I continued by adding shyness to my tone, "Yeah we were just walking around the campus after lecture and stumbled upon him at the garden. I must say his vocabulary is understandable with how

the interaction played out. But that'll be a story for another time" I reached my hand out to her.

"The name's Marie Fou Lafan but you can just call me Marie and the one with me is Angela." I pointed to the heroine, who sports a strained smile and greeted her.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Ms. Um" Yeah she doesn't know her name.

"Angela. My name is Angelica Rapha Redgrave." She shook my hand and then reached her hand to Olivia afterwards earning a hesitant handshake from the heroine.

"So you wanna join us for while? We could have a chat to pass the time talking about school or something." Great that's some good improvisation on my side. My motive with Angelica is to be on her good side or neutral part at the bare minimum alongside the heroine.

Act 1 has yet to solidify both Olivia's and Angelica's hostile 'antagonist vs protagonist' relationship with eachother. So if I could get the heiress to have more understanding and leave that horrible guy, Olivia would be safe.

I'm close to breaking rule 1, taking such risk if it means I can get these two a better outcome compared to their game counterparts. I don't want to leave my friend with that prince and I wouldn't want Angelica to be punished by such unfair. My previous role just wouldn't allow it.

Angelica thinks about it before nodding, "Very well. If you insist then I shall accept in kind." She took a seat alongside us and we began to mingle.

....

"So how's school for you both? It must've been quite a hassle with the lessons dropped I presume." Angela asked, starting a conversation with Marie and Olivia.

"I- it's okay... The lectures were surprisingly well presented after the teacher introduced themselves" Olivia says softly twiddling the tip of both her forefingers together, "Though I might be overwhelmed by lessons." That and along with the fact it's her first time attending a private noble institute

"I can definitely see that happening." Marie chuckled, "For me it's decent. There weren't anything out of the ordinary that I'd expect." She reminisced about her previous worlds' academic journey and by comparison, her present school is decent. To her, it ain't overwhelming to be a student to a school such as Holfort due to both lives. Chi gave her the social intelligence and Furina gave the manners to boost her chances to fend off the hostile nobles.

"How about you?" Marie asked Angelica, "I kinda know little info of the noble society so correct me if I'm wrong but the reason you asked about his highness is because you're his fiancée. Am I right?"

The white haired girl knows the answer but it's best Olivia hears the truth from the fiancée herself. Meanwhile, the heroine is blinking trying to process the details

"That's correct."

Thud!*

Both the villainess and the possessor turned to Olivia who shed a tear with a visible bump on her head, "Sorry I ended up dazing off." She says rubbing her forehead.

"Right..." A skeptical Marie utters before turning back to Angelica, "Cool, so you want to help us draw something?"

Silence ushers forth as quickly as she blurted such a blunt question. "I beg your pardon?" A confused Angela asks while tilting her head in wonder.

"I mean... Before you joined us, we were thinking about what I can draw as characters for a game Olivia and I can play during our free time." The villainess "Ahs" in understanding is listening intently, "The game is a table top roleplaying game or 'TTRPG' for short."

Marie remembered investing her time in this sort of games courtesy of the tabletop troupe she's invested on as Furina. She became immerse with playing a free commoner

"Yeah, Marie was talking about that game and I got really curious how that game works!" Olivia spoke enthusiastically as her eyes sparkled.

Angelica seemed amused at her, "Oh? Would care to explain?" she asked

Olivia turns at Marie with a look that pleaded to let her explain. The reincarnated smiled at the gaze and gestured a pass. A go ahead sign t

"So the game is as it name implies. We roleplay a character of our own creation and make a story along the way...." As the girl joyfully goes about her explanation.

Marie starts drawing her race character. A human. Hilarious is it not? A game that allows you to be any race but chose to be the one she's already playing in life. This reasoning of course stems from her desire to be human from witnessing both of past lives. In the first she was human but some actions of hers were inhuman and her second she was a god's humanity but never experienced what one was like for herself.

'I guess I'm still tied to the past.' Marie hummed sadly while taking a few glimpses of the two, now engaging passionately. 'But I'll get away from it someday I guess.' for now though she'll just act her self chosen role.
