Jack parked his car in the basement of the building, exhausted. The day had swung like an uncontrolled pendulum, from the tension of the fight at school to the lightness of the time shared with Sam. Now, exhaustion was taking over, and what he wanted most was a hot shower and the comfort of his bed.

As he got out of the car, a lone figure caught his eye near the dumpsters. Tory Nichols. Her back to him, dressed in a dark sweatshirt.

Tory hey " Jack said, in a voice loud enough for her to hear him

She turned her head slowly, her eyes widening for a split second before softening into a smirk. "Jack. I didn't expect to see you here, what are you doing at this hour?"

"I was driving around the streets, and I see you're taking out the trash. Why don't you leave it for the next day?" Jack asked doubtfully.

I actually like to do things beforehand so that I have a little more time tomorrow, you know, I need to do a lot of things, so one less thing helps me a lot," Tory told Jack.

"Oh, that's right!" Jack exclaimed, scratching his head, a wry smile on his lips. "With so much going on today, I forgot."

An uncomfortable silence hung between them. Jack didn't know what to say. He sensed there was something she wanted to share, but she was hesitant.

"I heard about the fight," Tory said finally, breaking the silence. "I heard you got hurt."

"It was nothing," he downplayed, touching the bandage on his nose.

"Let's just say that defending Larusso is not something I would do," Tory replied, crossing his arms.

"So why wouldn't you defend Sam, do you have something against her?" Jack asked, genuinely curious.

Tory hesitated for a moment, as if weighing her words before speaking. "It's complicated," he sighed. "I don't want to go into details now."

Jack nodded, respecting her decision. "Okay. But I want to hear about it later, you know where I am. Whenever you want to talk, just call me."

"I know," she replied, an enigmatic smile playing on her lips. "And you know where to find me if you need help breaking someone's face."

Jack laughed, and Tory joined in. There was a palpable tension between them, a mix of respect and distrust. But in that moment, there was also an undeniable connection.

"Well, I'll be going," Tory said, turning to leave. "I have to get up early tomorrow."

"Sure, that's fine. Good night," Jack replied. "I hope to see you at school tomorrow."

Tory gave him a smile before entering the building.

"Phew..." Jack sighed, feeling the tiredness intensify. "Now, a shower and something to eat. That street food didn't satisfy me at all."

After a quick shower and a raid on the fridge, Jack threw himself on the couch with his laptop. He browsed the internet absentmindedly until he came across Miguel's Facebook page. An ad caught his eye: "Come join the Cobra Kai dojo!" His eyes widened when he saw the person in the photo: his father. "Johnny Lawrence...", Jack thought, surprised but not angry. "So this is where you are... How curious." A mix of feelings invaded him, and he knew he needed to know more about this man.
