Chapter 21: A Grand Mansion: Ryu’s Shock!
After the sushi restaurant incident—
Ryu held Ayako's hand with his left hand while pushing a bicycle with his right.
As they walked for a few minutes, passersby occasionally glanced at them.
"Hm?"
Ryu frowned, blinking as he realized his left hand was still holding Ayako's.
His face turned red, and he quickly let go.
"Ah, sorry, Senpai. I got carried away earlier."
He had been so caught up in the moment that he forgot about it.
Ayako, usually so outgoing, blushed as she looked away.
"No, it's fine."
Her thoughts wandered back to Ryu's assertiveness at the sushi shop. Her heart raced like a rabbit in her chest.
He was so cool.
Without realizing it, Ryu's image in her heart shifted slightly.
The two glanced at each other and burst out laughing.
"Ha ha ha, who knew eating sushi could lead to something like that?" Ryu said, shaking his head.
"Yeah," Ayako replied with a grin. "But Ryu-kun, I didn't expect you to be a rich kid on top of everything else!"
She playfully patted his shoulder, her eyes twinkling mischievously.
She never imagined that Ryu wasn't just a talented basketball player but also came from such a well-off family.
Looking him up and down, she asked curiously, "Ryu-kun, why did you come to Japan to study? How do you like it here?"
Ryu pretended to think deeply before replying casually, "It's nice, especially playing basketball with everyone. It's really fun."
He gave a vague answer since he honestly didn't know why he was here either.
"Ha ha ha, smooth talker. By the way, I go for a run every morning. Your basketball skills are great, but your stamina seems lacking. Since the big game is coming up, how about we run together?"
She added with a smile, "Let's meet by the riverbank. What do you think?"
"Sure, let's do it," Ryu replied, smiling brightly.
For someone who used to be a shut-in in his past life, the idea of running with a pretty girl felt like a dream.
"Alright then, I'll see you tomorrow morning!"
After chatting for a bit longer, the two parted ways and headed home.
Using the memories of his current life, Ryu easily found his house.
Judging by the sushi shop incident, he figured his home wouldn't be too shabby. But even with that expectation, he was stunned by what he saw.
In front of him was a massive estate spanning thousands of square meters.
"Wow! This is incredible," Ryu muttered, his lips curling into a smirk.
Being born into wealth really is a skill. I'm definitely a certified rich kid.
"Welcome home, young master," a servant greeted him respectfully as he stepped into the courtyard.
Ryu nodded slightly in acknowledgment and walked inside.
The meticulously designed bonsai trees in the garden caught his eye.
If this were back in my past life, this place would easily cost billions.
He strolled through the courtyard, admiring the scenery, and reached the front door.
The grand entrance exuded both elegance and authority, with its towering pillars, arched windows, and intricate stonework.
Curious, Ryu began "exploring" his home.
It took him nearly half an hour to walk through the entire house.
He didn't see his parents anywhere.
I guess businesspeople are always busy making money.
Sitting on the spiral staircase, Ryu sighed deeply, resting his hands on his hips.
"Man, this house is way too big."
He checked the time—it was already 10 PM.
After a brief rest, he washed up quickly, set his alarm, and went to sleep.
The Next Morning
"Ring! Ring! Ring!"
The alarm buzzed, pulling Ryu from his dreams.
"Ah, that was such a good sleep," he murmured, shutting off the alarm. He rubbed his eyes and glanced out the window at the faint morning light.
Slowly, he sat up.
Since it was nearly May, the days were already getting brighter earlier.
After a quick wash and change into his workout clothes, Ryu headed out.
It didn't take long for him to arrive at the agreed meeting spot by the riverbank.
As soon as he got there, Ayako's voice called out from behind him.
"Hey, Ryu-kun! I didn't think you'd be so punctual!"
Ayako was wearing a loose blue tracksuit, a pink cap, and had her hair tied in a long ponytail. She radiated youthful energy.
"Senpai, I didn't expect you to be this early either," Ryu replied with a chuckle. "Alright, lead the way. I'll follow you."
He stretched his arms and legs, giving Ayako an approving once-over.
"Alright! Let's go!"
Ayako nodded, doing a few warm-up stretches before they started their morning jog together.
