In the room which was at the lowest level of the ruined Temple of the Old Ones, Eryndor, Prince Zeran, and the remaining ten elite Chosens stood in front of an incomplete array. At the center of the array was a white stake that was implanted into the ground.
If Corey were here, what would ultimately catch his interest is the array. Though small and seemingly simple, only those who observed it closely would realize that the array was anything but simple. It was extremely complex and the runes it contained could not be counted.
As for the white stake, it was the treasure that could kill or severely harm the Throne.
In one of the scrolls which had information on the Throne and the weapon that could severely injure or kill it, it was said that those in charge of the Temple of the Old Ones had been trying to create a weapon to kill the Throne.
However, they failed to complete the creation of the weapon because the Throne knew of their plans and killed every single person in the Temple and then destroyed the Temple. The Throne was the reason behind the current condition of one of the main Temples of the Shattered Dimension.
It was said that the act of destroying one of the main temples angered the Old Ones, and because of that, the Throne had lost its favor with the Old Ones and it had been punished.
As for what the punishment was, nobody knew.
Due to the sudden attack by the Throne, the weapon could not be completed. However, the plans and designs on how to create and complete the weapon had been documented.
"How long will it take you to complete the array?" Malrik Tenebris of the Temple of Darkness asked while glancing at Alaric Ventris of the Mage Association.
Alaric furrowed his brows and stared at the array with a calculative light in his eyes. On his eyes was a pair of glasses which he sometimes nudged to the top of his nose. He remained silent for approximately five seconds, and then he replied.
"This array has extremely complicated runes which were fused to form this seemingly simple but in actuality, extremely complicated array. Luckily, I can see runes. If-"
"You talk too much, four eyes. How long would it take you?" Darius Fenrir of the Werewolf Tribe cut off Alaric with his voice containing unrestrained disdain and disgust.
Alaric glanced at him with anger in his eyes, but just as he was about to speak, Orion Darrow's voice drifted into his ears.
"Ignore him, and tell us how long it'll take you. We can't be wasting our time here."
Alaric glanced at the Core Disciple of the Divine Spear Sect, and then he shifted his gaze back at Darius. Darius grinned at him, his canines emitting a bloody aura of hunger and death.
Killing intent flashed in Alaric's eyes, but he calmly and wisely looked away from Darius. He gazed at the array, and then he spoke.
"If I'm completing it on my own, it'll take me twenty-four hours. B-"
"Too long." Raksha Draven of the Beast Tribe cut off Alaric with a cold tone, and anger flashed in Alaric's eyes when this occurred. He glanced at Raksha with his anger barely restrained.
"But if I had help, it should take an hour or two at most," Alaric said, but everybody could hear the anger in Alaric's voice. However, nobody cared.
"That's manageable then," Malrik's voice echoed in the room, and then he gestured at the white stake and the array. "Please, start working on the array and tell us what you need. We can't waste anymore-"
Malrik stopped speaking, and his eyes landed on Eryndor. He was not the only one, every other person too was looking at Eryndor because Eryndor was now looking up with a deep frown.
"What's wrong?" Vanya Luna of the House of Vampires asked with a baffled expression, however, Eryndor remained silent and did not answer.
Seven seconds passed, and despite everybody using their ocular skills or sensory skills, they neither saw nor sensed anything that would make Eryndor have a serious expression on his face.
The eleven Chosens looked at one another, hoping for one of them to have figured out what was happening. However, they all shook their heads.
Eryndor's frown deepened, and without giving a glance to any of the Chosens around him, he spoke.
"It's here. You have fifteen minutes to complete the array."
"..." Alaric's eyes bulged in disbelief and his mouth was wide open. He took a step forward, and then he exclaimed, "It's impossible! I said I needed at least an hour with the help of others."
Despite Alaric's words, Eryndor did not look at him and he didn't bother to respond. His body began glowing, and everybody became tense.
"Activate the sealing formation in this place. We don't want any interruptions from Outsiders, especially the Tainteds."
After saying these words, Eryndor transformed into a streak of light that flew into the ceiling of the room.
Everybody glanced at the needle-like hole that was in the ceiling of the room, and then they shifted their gazes to one another. Although they were shaken by Eryndor's words, they were elites trained by top-tier organizations, and they also had their fair share of experiences in battle and life.
However, one individual was not calm at all.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! FUCKKKK!!!"
Alaric paced up and down with a frustrated and panicked expression. He grabbed his hair, and sweat could be seen streaming down his face as his brain worked way past its limits.
"FUCK!!!!"
Alaric cursed loudly one more time, and although most of them had the urge to mock Alaric's current condition, they knew they could not because whether they liked it or not, their fates depended on Alaric successfully completing the array on time.
Alaric exhaled deeply, and with bloodshot eyes, he started pointing.
"Malrik, Sylva, Vanya, Ivara, Lysandra, Zeran, and Orion! Assist me in completing the damn array! I'll tell you what to do!"
With a tone that offered no room for refusal, Alaric shouted with a bone-chilling tone, and for some reason, everybody had chills seeing the expression of madness in the eyes of Alaric as he ran to the incomplete array.
Raksha, Lucian, and Darius looked at one another. They had not been called by Alaric to assist in the completion of the array. However, they knew what to do.
Without wasting a single moment, they went to activate the sealing formation.
