Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Fish-Man Karate
Chapter 6: Fish-Man Karate
Arlong stared at the bloodshot eyes of Chu Yang, wanting to say something to beg for mercy, but the fear of death rendered him speechless.
His mouth was open, trembling uncontrollably.
As Chu Yang gazed at the blood continuously flowing from Arlong, he suddenly recalled the agony of the Celestial Dragon's branding iron being pressed harshly onto his chest.
The rage of being treated like prey due to his weakness ignited the killing intent deep within Chu Yang's heart.
He would never let anyone trample over him again!
"What... what are you going to do?!"
Arlong, on the verge of passing out, was jolted awake by the cold aura emanating from Chu Yang.
"If you kill me, you won't be able to stay on this ship. Brother Tiger won't allow anyone who kills their comrades to remain!"
Arlong shouted hysterically, trying desperately to awaken Chu Yang's sense of reason.
"Just now..." Chu Yang said coldly, "If I hadn't agreed to you, would you have spared me? Would you have let a mere human go?"
Arlong was instantly speechless. As Chu Yang had guessed, Arlong had no intention of sparing him. Even if he didn't kill him, he would have thrown him into the ocean to die on his own.
Afterward, Arlong would simply lie and say Chu Yang had left on his own. Even if Tiger didn't believe it, he wouldn't be able to do much about it.
Arlong was confident that Tiger wouldn't turn against his own people for the sake of one person.
"You're no different from the humans you despise..." Chu Yang sneered, giving up on the idea of killing Arlong as he loosened the wooden vines restraining him.
It wasn't that Chu Yang was being soft-hearted. If he killed Arlong here, there truly would be no way for him to remain on the ship.
More importantly, someone else had arrived...
A large, muscular blue figure stood behind Chu Yang, with hands covered in Armament Haki resting on his shoulders, ready to save Arlong at any moment.
Chu Yang deactivated his Wood Release and turned to look at Jinbe, calmly asking, "When did you get here?"
Jinbe glanced at the blood-covered Arlong, shock flickering in his eyes.
He lowered his voice, trying to appear composed, "When Arlong said he was taking you to rest, I felt something was off. It wasn't like him. To be safe, I followed behind you."
Jinbe let out a bitter laugh. "I was afraid he might do something stupid. Turns out, I was right, but I didn't expect..."
Chu Yang let out a long breath as if trying to expel all the resentment in his heart. "You didn't expect me to nearly kill him?"
Jinbe nodded, speaking with an understanding tone, "No wonder Brother Tiger said you saved him. So, you're a Devil Fruit user."
The frequent use of Wood Release had nearly depleted Chu Yang's chakra, leaving him exhausted. His eyelids drooped as he weakly said, "If you're not planning on kicking me off the ship, then take me to rest."
"All I want right now is to lie in bed and sleep."
Before leaving the storage room, Jinbe glanced helplessly at the heavily injured and unconscious Arlong slumped against the door, a complex expression on his face.
Arlong's hatred for humans was far worse than that of most of the Fish-Men on the ship. If he didn't correct his mindset soon, he would likely suffer more at Chu Yang's hands in the future.
Out of concern for Chu Yang, Jinbe took him to a private room before quietly leaving.
Once Chu Yang was settled, Jinbe quickly called the ship's doctor to treat Arlong. Soon, the news of Arlong being gravely injured and unconscious spread throughout the ship.
At first, Jinbe considered covering for Arlong, but he soon dismissed the idea.
Many of the Fish-Men on the ship shared Arlong's views.
To stop them from doing anything foolish, the necessary deterrence was crucial. Jinbe figured that spreading the news was for the best.
Unaware of these developments, Chu Yang lay in bed, fast asleep. As a result of this incident, Arlong had become the laughingstock of the entire ship.
The next day, Chu Yang slept until noon, waking to find the scorching sun shining down as he appeared on the deck. He noticed that the Fish-Men's gazes towards him had changed significantly from the previous day.
The hostility in their eyes had lessened, replaced by astonishment and fear.
There was now a clear sense of distance between them.
"Looks like they already know." Chu Yang glanced around, a slight smile playing on his lips. From now on, there would finally be fewer distractions.
Chu Yang had no intention of getting close to this group of Fish-Men. The Sun Pirates were merely a temporary refuge for him.
"The events of yesterday were my responsibility." Tiger approached from the bow of the ship, his face tired as he apologized to Chu Yang.
"I wasn't the one injured, no need to apologize," Chu Yang replied indifferently. "Though that guy, Arlong, won't be getting out of bed for at least ten days or half a month."
"That might actually be a good thing. At least he won't cause any more trouble for a while." Tiger wore a troubled expression. Though he was a Fish-Man, he didn't particularly like Arlong's aggressive and extreme way of handling things.
"If you need anything, just let me know." Although the Sun Pirates had been officially formed, Tiger clearly didn't regard Chu Yang as one of the crew. He treated him with great politeness.
They were companions traveling the same road for now, but neither expected to journey to the end together. This was a mutual understanding between them.
After thinking for a moment, Chu Yang spoke, "I want to learn some combat techniques from Jinbe. Can you have him teach me?"
"Jinbe?" Tiger was momentarily stunned, then laughed. "Of course. You've got a good eye. That kid's strength and potential are extraordinary. In a few more years, he'll be one of the elites of the Fish-Men."
Chu Yang smiled.
No kidding!
After all, this was none other than Jinbe! His title as a Warlord of the Sea wasn't for nothing!
Chu Yang wasn't just interested in learning Fish-Man Karate from Jinbe. What he sought even more was the power of Haki. Yesterday, he had witnessed Jinbe's Armament Haki firsthand.
It didn't take long before Tiger found Jinbe and explained that Chu Yang wanted to learn combat from him.
At this time, Jinbe still harbored deep mistrust towards humans. However, due to Chu Yang's past kindness towards Tiger, he treated him differently.
Reluctantly, Jinbe agreed to Chu Yang's request.
Jinbe began training Chu Yang that very day, subjecting him to a hellish regime.
Whether it was out of some desire for revenge or simply to finish the task quickly, Jinbe's teaching methods were wild and brutal.
After each training session, Chu Yang had to be carried back to his room.
Though harsh, within just three days, Chu Yang had already mastered the basics of Fish-Man Karate, and his progress skyrocketed like a rocket.
His rapid advancement left Jinbe astonished. In his view, Chu Yang was learning Fish-Man Karate faster than most Fish-Men.
But Chu Yang was undeniably human...
If it weren't for Tiger's intervention, Jinbe would have wanted to cut Chu Yang open to see if he had Fish-Man organs inside.
"This is unbelievable!"
Unwilling to give up, Jinbe intensified Chu Yang's "torture," but Chu Yang was like a sponge with no upper limit, eagerly absorbing everything that benefited him.
