Chapter 372.

They saw numerous deep pits scattered across the open field ahead, the result of a bombardment so intense that its power was hard to fathom.

In the distance, Elder Chrysanthemum finally laid eyes on the scene his companion had described—exactly as Hu Liena had said.

"Old Ghost!!!"

Elder Chrysanthemum's voice rang out sharply, his words filled with shock and anger. The two had shared a deep friendship for decades, a bond that ran deeper than even family ties. Now, seeing his old friend gravely wounded and on the verge of death, Elder Chrysanthemum couldn't hold back. The strange chrysanthemum in his hand glowed brightly, casting a healing light over Ghost Douluo.

The strange Chrysanthemum, a martial soul of the flower plant type, had some healing properties, though they weren't exceptionally powerful. Nevertheless, it was enough to provide some relief. The pale orange light enveloped Ghost Douluo, and as the healing energy took effect, his aura began to stabilize, though he still looked far from recovered.

"How did this happen?" Elder Chrysanthemum asked, his voice trembling with concern as he gazed down at Ghost Douluo. He was utterly baffled. With the old ghost's strength, how could he have been brought so low? Was it the work of a level 96 or 97 Super Douluo? But even that didn't explain the extent of the damage. Ghost Douluo was a Titled Douluo with exceptional speed—his martial spirit granted him remarkable immunity to damage and extreme speed. There was no way he should have been so easily injured, unless... he was somehow restrained.

"Old Chrysanthemum, you're here... Let me tell you, this White Death is no joke," Ghost Douluo's voice came through, weak but resolute. He wasn't dead, but his body felt crushed, and his fighting capabilities were far from restored. The relentless barrage of Wang Feng's punches had taken its toll, even if they had been somewhat dampened by the ice-sealed state he had been trapped in. As a Title Douluo, Ghost Douluo could endure significant damage, but Wang Feng's blows had been too powerful to simply shrug off.

"Old Ghost, this doesn't make any sense! How could a mere kid injure you like this?" Chrysanthemum Douluo exclaimed, disbelief coloring his tone. The strange Chrysanthemum in his hand suddenly flared with a burst of intense light, forming a light yellow shield around the two of them as he gazed intently at the distant figure of Wang Feng—the so-called White Death.

Both Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo knew little about this White Death, as he had only revealed a fraction of his abilities during their brief encounter in the Slaughter City. They were unaware of what had transpired in Hell Road or of the full extent of his powers. Hu Liena had a clearer understanding, but she hadn't had time to explain everything, and besides, she had never seen Wang Feng use his Qiankun Cauldron—or his newly acquired [Icebane] passive ability.

They couldn't have known the true nature of his abilities.

"This kid's soul abilities are very terrifying. When I attacked, he instantly froze me into ice... not just my body, but even my soul power and consciousness were frozen. It's unlike anything I've ever encountered," Ghost Douluo whispered, his voice laced with both admiration and fear. "And there's something else... he has a hundred thousand year old soul ring!"

The revelation sent a shockwave through both Chrysanthemum Douluo and Hu Liena.

"A hundred thousand year soul ring!!?" Hu Liena whispered, her eyes widening in astonishment. There were only a handful of Titled Douluo in the entire continent with such a rare and powerful soul ring. Most soul masters never even dreamed of acquiring one, and it was virtually unheard of anyone below Titled Douluo acquiring it.

The gravity of the situation was beginning to sink in.

The promotion of a soul master through a 100,000-year soul ring was beyond imagination.

"No wonder..." Chrysanthemum Douluo murmured, his expression somber as he stared at the White Death in front of him. It seemed he had underestimated this kid.

"Don't attack him," Ghost Douluo continued, his voice weak but steady. "His freezing soul abilities only take effect when you make direct contact. As long as you avoid attacking him directly, you'll be fine."

It was true. Wang Feng's [Icebane] soul ability is effective only when an attack physically connected –with him. While the passive ability was indeed powerful, it wasn't invincible. There were many long-range attacks and control abilities that could still damage Wang Feng. However, for most melee soul masters, this ability was highly restraining.

"He also possesses a very strong torso soul bone, and his soul abilities are incredibly potent. They can even freeze long-range energy attacks. Be careful, though—such abilities consume a lot of energy. Old Chrysanthemum, he likely has very little soul power left now."

Ghost Douluo spoke hoarsely, his tone grim. "We can either retreat or follow the order and destroy him. The choice is yours."

With that, Ghost Douluo began to focus on recovering as best as he could from the side.

On the other side, Hu Liena was still in shock, her mind racing as she processed Ghost Douluo's words. She quickly urged:

"Elder Chrysanthemum, we should retreat. The White Death is too strong. If he's hiding any powerful abilities..."

Hu Liena had never imagined that the White Death could be so powerful after emerging from Hell Road. He had defeated even Ghost Douluo with his soul abilities! If Elder Chrysanthemum had arrived just a little later, Ghost Douluo might not have survived.

As a disciple of the Pope, Hu Liena couldn't directly persuade Elder Chrysanthemum to retreat. Doing so would be akin to defying her teacher's orders, which was something she simply couldn't bring herself to do. However, she might be able to convince Elder Chrysanthemum to retreat in another way, or perhaps find a different means of persuading him.

Hu Liena knew a little about the White Death. If the two hadn't already fought, she might have been able to convince them. But now, after everything that had happened, it seemed impossible that the White Death –could join the Soul Hall. It would be a blessing if they were never to become enemies. The thought made Hu Liena feel a pang of sadness.

Chrysanthemum Douluo was also deep in thought. There was some truth to what Hu Liena had said. The earlier misjudgment had led them to this point. But Chrysanthemum Douluo couldn't help feeling a sense of unwillingness. His dear friend had been beaten to such a state... Could he just walk away like this? The White Death had consumed so much soul energy, even if he had a hidden trump card, could that card really defeat another Titled Douluo? Yet, what if it was possible? After all, he had already defeated Ghost Douluo.

This internal conflict made Chrysanthemum Douluo hesitate.

"Go quickly!" Hu Liena suddenly glanced at Wang Feng from a distance and gave him a subtle signal.

Wang Feng, however, didn't leave. Instead, he turned his gaze to Chrysanthemum Douluo.

He was drained, mostly due to the mental exhaustion from the earlier battle with Ghost Douluo and the continuous use of soul abilities. His soul power had also been severely depleted, especially after using it in the Hell Road. Even though he had used Golden Lotus first soul ability after parting with Hu Liena and Tang San, his recovery was slow.

Wang Feng's soul power and spiritual energy were vast, but not something that could be fully replenished in such a short time. With the blood line power activated, his consumption only grew larger.

Defeating Chrysanthemum Douluo wasn't difficult for Wang Feng, though, as his Qiankun Cauldron's divine light had yet to be used. Once he activated it, defeating Chrysanthemum Douluo would be easy. Even if the effect of the Qiankun Divine Light didn't last long, it would be enough for him to gain the upper hand.

However, Wang Feng had other plans.

At that moment, he suddenly spoke up:

"Is this how your Soul Hall operates? I've been thinking—what have I, Wang Wu , had done to offend you? And this woman—she's also from your Soul Hall, isn't she? Morally speaking, I've saved her multiple times, both in the Slaughter City and on Hell Road."

At these words, Hu Liena lowered her head in shame. As the mediator in this situation, she felt deeply uncomfortable. On one hand, there was the order of her mentor, on the other, there was the benefactor who had saved her life more than once.
