Shut Up Dragon! I Don't Want To Have Children With You Anymore

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Daddy! Wake Up!

'Wait again...'

'Angels?'

'Does this mean... My soul has finally reached its destination?'

If that were the case, then Leon could finally lay down his burdens and reunite with the brothers who had fallen on the battlefield.

Feeling a bit stronger, Leon pushed himself off the bed.

Dragging his heavy, exhausted body, he walked over to the window and looked outside.

Clear skies, chirping birds, and the sweet scent of flowers filled the air.

"Holy... it is heaven."

It seemed like his life had come to a perfect conclusion.

Or, maybe... an exclamation mark?

Leon figured his short life had been full of surprises anyway, so either worked for him.

'Well, whatever.'

'At least I made it to heaven. That is something.'

"Hey~ You're awake~"

A soft, childish voice called from behind.

Leon turned around to find the source of the voice.

Standing there was an adorable little girl, just as cute as her voice.

She looked about three or four years old, with a sweet face that still had some baby fat, and her delicate features hinted that she would grow into quite the beauty.

Her appearance matched Leon's mental image of an "angel," except for one odd detail.

Her hair was a strange combination—mostly black, with streaks of silver running through it.

The mix of black and silver wasn't exactly bad-looking, but it seemed oddly out of place on a little girl.

'Wait...'

'Are they hiring child labor as angels now? And why dress the poor kid up like a rebellious teen?'

Leon inwardly complained as he slowly walked over to the girl, kneeling to meet her at eye level.

"Hello there, little one. What's your name?"

"Luna," the little girl answered seriously.

"What a lovely name. It means 'moon,' doesn't it? Who gave you such a beautiful name?"

"Mommy did."

Leon froze for a moment.

'Wait. No offense, but do angels have moms...?'

'I thought they were... crafted by God or something?'

"I'm Leon. Leon Casmodeous," he introduced himself out of courtesy.

"Mhm, I know. Your name sounds like 'lion,'" the girl said, nodding confidently.

"Who told you that?"

"Mommy."

"..."

Leon suddenly had a bad feeling about all this.

He slowly stood up, looking at Luna with growing unease. "Dare I ask... who is your mother?"

"Rossweise, of course," Moon chirped as she ran over and hugged Leon's leg, beaming up at him.

"Daddy! You're finally awake!"

Maybe... his short and brilliant life hadn't ended with a period or an exclamation mark after all.

Perhaps it had ended with a 'to be continued.'

Leon wasn't sure what expression to wear as he stared at the little girl hugging his leg and calling him "Daddy."

'Kid, you can't just go around handing out fathers like that. Are you sure you've got the right guy?'

He took a deep breath, calming himself, before crouching down again. Gently, he took hold of Moon's small arm and asked, "Sweetheart, I just woke up, and I don't remember anything. Is it possible you've got the wrong person?"

Moon shook her little head, her tiny tuft of hair bobbing with the motion. "Nope! Mommy comes here every day to see if Daddy's awake yet."

Before Leon could ask anything else, Moon grabbed his hand and started pulling him toward the door.

"Let's go find Mommy. She's going to be so happy you're awake!"

'Really, kid?'

'You're sure your mom's going to be happy to see me?'

'I'll be lucky if she doesn't crack my skull open, let alone smile.'

Leon sighed inwardly, watching as Moon turned. That's when he noticed the small dragon tail trailing behind her.

It wasn't as long or thick as Rossweise's, but it was tiny and adorable, giving him the sudden urge to reach out and touch it.

"Wait, wait, wait, Moon." Leon snapped back to reality, quickly pulling the little girl to a stop.

But even then, he could feel it—this tiny human-looking child had surprisingly strong grip strength.

Sure, Leon had just woken up and was still weak, but there was no way he should be struggling to stop a kid this small.

'Seems like dragon blood runs deep... even in an unplanned pregnancy.'

And the thought that his daughter was a naturally strong little dragon girl gave Leon a strange sense of sadness.

The boy who once slayed dragons... had become the father of one.

"What's wrong, Daddy?"

Moon's sweet voice calling him "Daddy" repeatedly was making Leon uncomfortable.

"Uh... I want to know... how long have I been unconscious?"

Moon blinked her big eyes, clearly struggling with the concept of time.

"I-I don't know... but Mommy and I come see you every day."

She pointed to the clock on the wall. "Mommy always comes at ten in the morning to check on you. Every day."

Leon glanced over.

It was already 9:50.

"Daddy, Daddy, Mommy comes every day to see you. Why aren't you smiling?" Moon asked, tilting her head curiously when she noticed Leon's silence.

Leon forced a grim smile.

'Can you guess why I'm not smiling?'

In ten minutes, the woman he had barely known long enough to call a "rival," but had already produced a child with, was going to show up.

How could he smile?

Leon frantically scanned the room, looking for a place to hide.

But there were no convenient cracks or holes big enough to fit a healthy twenty-year-old man in a nursery.

His eyes darted to the bed, and an idea struck him. Maybe... if he pretended to still be unconscious?

Without hesitation, Leon executed a perfect dive back onto the bed, pulling the covers over himself.

Moon, unsure why her newly-awakened dad was lying down again, walked barefoot over to the bed, peeking up with curious eyes.

"Daddy, you're not going to come see Mommy?"

"Shh, when your mommy comes in, tell her I'm still asleep," Leon whispered urgently.

Moon scratched her little head. "Why? Mommy really wants you to wake up."

"Ehm... because Daddy wants to surprise Mommy. You understand, right?"

"Surprise!"

Moon's eyes lit up with excitement, her little tail and the tuft of silver on her head swaying happily.

"Yep, a surprise! You want to help make Mommy happy with a big surprise, don't you?"

"Uh-huh!"

"Good girl. So, when Mommy comes in, just act like nothing's happened, okay?"

"Okay! Moon will listen to Daddy~"

Leon had to admit, he was pretty good at handling kids.

After reassuring Moon, Leon closed his eyes and lay still, mimicking his earlier comatose state.

About ten minutes later, the door creaked open, and the sound of high heels tapping against the floor filled the room, growing louder as they approached.

Even with his eyes shut, Leon could feel the commanding presence of the Silver Dragon Queen.

"Moon."

"Yes, Mother."

Moon's cheerful response was immediate.

Rossweise raised an eyebrow. "Why are you so happy?"

After a brief pause, Moon shook her head. "No reason. Moon isn't happy."

Rossweise's slitted pupils flickered, narrowing slightly as she studied her daughter's innocent face.

The little girl was responding to her questions seriously, which was expected.

But... perhaps too seriously.

And there was the matter of her wagging tail. Dragons only wagged their tails when they were particularly excited.

Most of the time, they let their tails rest naturally on the ground, like Rossweise's.

But she didn't question Moon further. Slowly, her gaze shifted toward the bed, to the still-unconscious Leon lying on it.

By her calculations, Leon had been in a coma for about two years now.

It was around time for him to wake up.

Her voice remained calm as ever. "I see. You can go play now, Moon."

"Mother..."

"Is there something else?"

"N-No, nothing. I'll go play now."

"Good. Be careful."

Moon shot one last glance at her sleeping father before scampering out of the room.

Rossweise, on the other hand, walked leisurely to the side of the bed, sitting down gracefully.

Her silver tail draped casually over the sheets as she gazed down at the still-unconscious Leon.
