Chapter 23: Uzumaki Naruto’s Incredible Power – The Ability to Change Hearts
Sasuke remained quiet, processing what he had just seen. If it was true—if he really would die in the future—it was unacceptable.
"I can't die... not before I kill that man!"
"Sasuke... dead?!"
Sakura's face went pale as her heart dropped. The person she admired, the one she had always dreamed of—dead?
"No... no! How could this happen?!"
Sitting by the riverbank, Naruto's body slumped to the ground. His face turned as pale as Sakura's, the shock too much for him to bear.
"Sasuke... dead?"
The idea shattered him. He hadn't even brought Sasuke back yet. How could he die?
A faint red chakra began to seep out from Naruto's body, but Jiraiya's sharp voice broke through his spiraling thoughts.
"You idiot! That's the future! Now that you know, prepare for it and make sure it doesn't happen!"
Naruto snapped out of it, clenching his fists tightly. "You're right! I won't let Sasuke die. I swear it!"
"Sasuke... dead? Impossible!" Ino's face was just as pale as Sakura's.
Sasuke was the heartthrob of Konoha's girls, the prince they all admired. How could someone like him die?
Meanwhile, Sasuke himself felt his hands trembling. If he died, he would never avenge his clan or kill Itachi.
Kakashi placed a calming hand on Sasuke's shoulder. "It's just a possible future. Now that we've seen it, we can work to change it. Don't let it get to you."
On the screen, Chiyo knelt beside Gaara's lifeless body. For a moment, she was silent, her old eyes filled with deep thought.
Finally, she moved.
Her frail hands glowed with a soft green light as she placed them over Gaara's chest.
"Chiyo-sama, that technique—?"
Kankurō and Temari were stunned.
Kakashi activated his Sharingan, and Neji's Byakugan flared to life. Their eyes widened as they observed the flow of chakra.
"She's using that technique," Kankurō whispered, his voice trembling.
"That jutsu takes the user's life in exchange for another," Temari murmured, her face pale.
Chiyo's intention was clear: she was sacrificing herself to save Gaara.
Far away in Sunagakure, the real Chiyo watched the screen with disbelief.
"Me? Sacrifice myself for Gaara?"
She had always been critical of Gaara, and yet, in the future, she would give her life for him.
"Is it because of Uzumaki Naruto?" she muttered to herself.
"She can bring Gaara back to life?" Naruto asked, his voice tinged with cautious hope.
Kakashi and Neji, observing the technique closely, exchanged uneasy glances.
"That jutsu requires a heavy price," Kakashi explained grimly. "It takes the user's life to bring someone else back."
The realization struck everyone like a hammer.
Chiyo's sacrifice was an act of pure selflessness, a choice to give her life so that Gaara might live.
"Chiyo is incredible. She's sacrificing herself to save Gaara... I'm crying."
"But why would she do this? Didn't the Sand hate Gaara?"
"You fool. Gaara became Kazekage. He must have earned their respect."
"This is amazing! Gaara doesn't have to die after all!"
Naruto exhaled deeply, relief flooding his body. "He'll live... Gaara will live..."
Tears welled up in Naruto's eyes as he thought of Gaara no longer being alone.
"He'll have comrades. He won't be lonely anymore."
On the screen, Chiyo's chakra began to wane as the jutsu drained her strength. Just as she faltered, Naruto stepped forward and placed his hands over hers, sharing his own chakra.
Chiyo glanced up at him, her expression softening.
"He understands Gaara's pain better than anyone," she murmured.
"Whether it's Konoha or Sunagakure, it doesn't matter to him."
"He's not just a ninja... he's something more."
The ninja world fell into thoughtful silence as Chiyo's words hung in the air.
Jinchūriki were destined to live lives of pain, rejection, and isolation.
Even though it wasn't their fault, their very existence inspired fear and hatred in those around them.
For the first time, the leaders of the Five Great Nations truly considered the cost of this system.
Gaara stared at the screen, his mind swirling with confusion.
"Why, Uzumaki Naruto? Why would you save someone like me?"
He recalled Naruto's tears and the way he spoke out against the injustice of their shared fate.
For the first time, something warm stirred in Gaara's heart, like a tiny light breaking through his long-held darkness.
"Naruto's dream is to become Hokage," Chiyo said on the screen. "When he learned Gaara had become Kazekage, he was envious but also happy for him."
Gaara's eyes widened as he heard this.
"He was happy... for me?"
That warmth in his heart grew, banishing some of the cold emptiness he had always felt.
On the screen, Chiyo's voice trembled as she smiled at Naruto.
"You possess an incredible power, Naruto."
"For a world created by us old fools, having a kid like you gives me hope."
"I've done so many wrongs in my life, but at least in the end, I've done one good thing."
"The future will be different from our time... it will be better."
"Naruto, you must become a Hokage like no other."
Hearing this, Naruto's face lit up. He clenched his fists and shouted, "I will! I'll become the greatest Hokage ever—better than all of them!"
"An incredible power... in Naruto?" murmured the Five Kage as they watched in awe.
"What kind of power is this?" they wondered aloud.
"It's the ability to change hearts," Kakashi said softly. "Naruto has that power."
In her final moments, Chiyo whispered to Naruto:
"Naruto, you understand Gaara's pain better than anyone. And Gaara understands yours."
"So please..."
"Save Gaara."
