Chapter 129: Chapter 130: Survive, Makoto
Bankai?!
With Unohana unleashing her Bankai, the terrifying spiritual pressure reverberated through the entire Seireitei!
The Shinigamis... trembled in fear.
Even Captain-Commander Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, who had been stationed in the First Division barracks, could no longer contain himself. He opened his eyes and vanished in a flash, heading towards the Fourth Division barracks.
In the Soul Society, perhaps no one understood the terror of Unohana's Bankai: Minazuki more than Yamamoto—except perhaps Zaraki Kenpachi, who had once fought Unohana while in an unconscious state.
Minazuki was an ability that was deceptively simple—so simple that it seemed unworthy of being called a Bankai. Yet, in the hands of the original Unohana Yachiru, it was a nightmare, making her nearly invincible in the Soul Society.
Yamamoto's victory over the past Unohana was largely due to his forceful use of Bankai: Zanka no Tachi to evaporate Minazuki's influence.
More importantly, if Unohana merely unsheathed her sword, Yamamoto would not have been overly concerned. He trusted that Unohana could maintain her basic sanity. However, if Minazuki was released, Unohana's primal nature—the terrifying core of her being—would awaken uncontrollably.
Not far away, Aizen, who had turned to leave, halted abruptly. His eyes narrowed in astonishment as he sensed the massive, blood-red spiritual pressure erupting from the Fourth Division, accompanied by the formation of a blood-colored sphere.
"Unohana's Bankai... resembles Tōsen's a little?"
As Aizen observed the unleashed Bankai: Minazuki, his gaze revealed a flicker of intrigue.
The barrier that had previously enveloped the Fourth Division shattered instantly under the overwhelming force of Unohana's spiritual pressure.
"Quick! Reconstruct the barrier!"
"What kind of monstrous spiritual pressure is this? Even Captain-Commander Yamamoto isn't this terrifying!"
"Is this... truly Captain Unohana's spiritual pressure?"
"Everyone, prepare to reseal—"
At that moment, a disheveled and weary figure appeared before the Kido Corps. The captain's haori of the Twelfth Division, draped over his shoulders, was stained and dirty beyond recognition.
Arriving at full speed, Urahara Kisuke sensed the chaos within the Fourth Division and let out a sigh of relief. He addressed the two Kido commanders in front of him.
"Kidō Chief Tessai Tsukabishi and Vice Chief Hachigen Ushoda , I have a way to treat the captains undergoing Hollowfication, but I'll need your assistance."
"Kisuke Urahara?!"
The two commanders looked at Urahara with surprise.
The Kido Corps, as an institution directly under Central 46, operated independently of the Gotei 13. While they held slightly lower status, they had the autonomy to refuse orders—even from Yamamoto himself.
Tsukabishi and Ushoda had only seen Urahara from a distance before and had barely spoken to him.
Now, sensing the worsening spiritual pressure fluctuations of Shihōin Yoruichi, Urahara's tone grew urgent.
"Chief Tsukabishi, Vice Chief Ushoda, please trust me. Time is of the essence. This is the only way to save the Hollowfied captains. If we delay any longer, they'll fully transform into Hollows."
Tsukabishi, his rugged appearance matching his deep frown, glanced at Ushoda, who was round and stout, and muttered, "This is suspicious. But the captains' spiritual pressure is deteriorating. If this is the only way to save them, we should give it a try."
"However, our orders are to seal off the Fourth Division and ensure no Hollowfied Shinigami escape."
Ushoda turned his small, sharp eyes towards Kyōraku Shunsui, Kuchiki Ginrei, and Ōmaeda Marenoshin, who were coordinating the situation nearby.
"Perhaps we should consult Captain Kyōraku and report to the Captain-Commander first."
But Urahara, sensing Yoruichi's spiritual pressure nearing complete Hollowfication, gritted his teeth and pressed on.
"There's no time! We must immediately use a forbidden Kido technique, to move the Hollowfied Shinigami to the Twelfth Division lab. If we wait, there'll be no saving them."
Tsukabishi hesitated, sensing Urahara's desperation and sincerity. Turning to Ushoda, he declared, "I'll trust Captain Urahara this time. Vice Chief, stay here to secure the area while I assist him."
"Forget it. I'll go too," Ushoda replied, eyeing Urahara cautiously. "If all the Hollowfied captains are transferred, sealing this area becomes pointless. Besides... it's better if we watch each other's backs."
"Let's move!"
Without further argument, Urahara led the way into the Fourth Division, with Tsukabishi and Ushoda close behind.

Inside the blood-red space created by Bankai: Minazuki, Unohana stood firm, her blade oozing crimson liquid. Her gaze fell on Makoto.
"Minazuki draws enemies into a space where no one can interfere...
"This is the perfect battleground. There are no restraints or suppressions. On the contrary, within this space, the killing instinct buried within you will awaken. The weak will become desperate, and the strong will revel in pure combat.
"As a reward for daring to challenge me, Makoto, you'll bathe in blood here and witness your teacher's true nature..."
"Don't entertain false hope. Survival... is the only way forward. You feel it too, don't you? Even if I wanted to hold back, this space makes it impossible!"
Her voice softened at the end, and she lowered her gaze, almost unwilling to meet Makoto's eyes. Her lips moved faintly.
"Live, Makoto...
"If you truly want to reach me, then fight with everything you have... and survive.
"If you're too weak, then I will have no choice but to utterly destroy you."
(Author's Note: Regarding Unohana's "Bankai: Minazuki" there are many interpretations and speculations, but personally, I believe this is Unohana's most ideal ability. As the first Kenpachi, it's the true way of a kenpanchi to rely on it's swordsmanship to cut through everything, rather than relying on flashy and extravagant powers.)
