Shinchan: The Cooking God in here!

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: The Power of Life

Hearing Asuka's words, the two of them shook their heads and said they didn't need or want to rest. Instead of chatting without any nutrition, they wanted to watch Asuka cooking in the kitchen and learn a few tricks along the way.

Asuka nodded indifferently. To let them see more clearly, she even turned her body sideways to provide a better view.

The dish of chicken stew was not difficult to make. The main challenge was cooking the chicken properly and controlling the seasoning.

"Sister Misty, Sister Meiko, do you eat spicy food?"

They both shook their heads. "I don't like spicy food very much."

"Then I'll make a sauce-flavored one."

After that, Asuka removed all the chili peppers on the chopping board and set them aside. She heated oil in a pan, added onion, ginger, and garlic, and stir-fried them until their fragrance was released. Then she added the chicken, which had been soaked in water, and stir-fried it.

The traditional Chinese stir-fry techniques amazed Mitsy Nohara and Meiko Kazama.

The bursting flames greedily licked the iron pot, and wisps of unspeakable fragrance filled the kitchen, like the charming yet dangerous call of a sleeping beast. The pungent seasonings created a wonderful chemical reaction with the fire, producing an aroma that even the most powerful range hood couldn't suppress.

"It smells so good, but the flames looked scary."

"Onions, ginger, and garlic—we usually sprinkle them on after cooking. It turns out that stir-frying them first brings out such a strong aroma!"

"Yes! Just like yesterday morning, Asuka taught me how to make scallion oil noodles. First, you stir-fry the scallions in the oil until they're brown. Then, after their fragrance has blended with the oil, you remove the scallions and mix the oil with the noodles. It tastes amazing!"

"Really? Then I'll try it tomorrow morning. Do I just need to fry the scallions in oil, or do I need to add other seasonings?"

"No, no, you'll still need other seasonings..." Mitsy Nohara glanced at Asuka, who was preparing the fish, then leaned over and whispered, "Asuka, Meiko wants to learn how to make scallion noodles. Can I teach her?"

Asuka swiftly removed the fish scales with a knife and replied without raising her head, "Of course."

Receiving her answer, Mitsy Nohara thanked Asuka again and turned back to chat with Meiko Kazama about the seasoning for scallion noodles.

While the two of them were discussing cooking techniques, Asuka quickly finished descaling two fish, then soaked them in cold water. Once the fish meat stiffened slightly, she made precise cuts with the tip of her knife, twisted her hands, and in a smooth motion, removed the entire fish bone.

After preparing both fish, it was time to open the pressure cooker and add the seasonings to the chicken.

Mitsy Nohara and Meiko Kazama, who had been chatting, were gradually drawn in by the rich aroma filling the kitchen. They unconsciously fell silent, leaning forward slightly and watching Asuka's movements with rapt attention.

"Sister Mitsy, can you help me steam a pot of rice?" Asuka suddenly asked as she replaced the pressure cooker lid.

Mitsy Nohara perked up upon hearing her name and hurriedly nodded. "Oh, okay! I'll do it now."

"What about me?" Meiko Kazama, unwilling to sit idle, asked eagerly.

"Um..." Asuka thought for a moment, then left the kitchen briefly. When she returned, she was holding a piece of paper with instructions on how to make honey yuzu tea. Handing it to Meiko, she said seriously, "We're out of honey yuzu tea at home. If it's not too much trouble, could you make some? Otherwise, we won't have anything to drink with our meal."

Meiko Kazama, who had wanted to learn how to make honey yuzu tea, agreed without hesitation.

And so, all three of them found their own tasks in the kitchen, working in an orderly manner.

About half an hour later, as the rice was steaming, Asuka Shimizu opened the lid of the pressure cooker.

The kitchen was instantly filled with the rich, fragrant aroma of chicken soup, awakening the hunger of the three women.

"Wow, it smells amazing!"

While Asuka was transferring the chicken into a serving pot, Meiko Kazama and Mitsy Nohara came over to take a look.

The surface of the golden chicken soup was slightly oily, and within it were tender chicken pieces, green peppers, kelp, and mushrooms soaked in rich broth. The dish, though simple, had a luxurious feel to it.

Finally, Asuka placed the entire pot of chicken into a larger casserole and laid a soaked, clean towel on the kitchen table.

"Sister Meiko, Sister Mitsy, it's time to eat."

"Okay! Coming!"

Mitsy Nohara served the rice while Meiko Kazama fetched the freshly chilled drinks, both hurrying excitedly to the dining table.

"So this is a chicken pot? It smells incredible..." Mitsy Nohara exclaimed, pulling out her phone. She snapped a picture from the best angle and sent it to her husband, Hiroshi Nohara, who was eating udon in a shopping street.

"Hiroshi, look at Asuka's chicken pot! It looks absolutely delicious!"

"Gulp..."

Seeing the MMS from his wife, Hiroshi Nohara suddenly found his udon noodles tasteless. He even had the urge to take the next train home just to try this mouthwatering dish.

Meanwhile, Mitsy Nohara, having successfully tempted her husband, didn't bother reading his reply. She picked up a serving chopstick, selected a piece of chicken, placed it in her bowl, and carefully blew on it before taking a bite.

"Delicious!"

The chicken, stewed to perfection in the pressure cooker, was incredibly tender. As she chewed, the rich, mellow chicken soup flowed out, coating her taste buds in a wave of umami. The flavors of mushrooms, green peppers, scallions, and kelp exploded in her mouth—it was simply addictive.

"This chicken stew is incredible!" Meiko Kazama eagerly picked up more food, her chopsticks flying between the pot and her bowl.

Mitsy Nohara was even more enthusiastic. If it weren't for the presence of their guest, she would have grabbed a ladle to scoop up even more soup.

"Sister Mitsy, Sister Meiko, try pouring the chicken soup over your rice. It tastes amazing that way too." Asuka suggested, demonstrating by drizzling some golden broth over her rice before mixing it with her chopsticks.

Following Asuka's advice, Mitsy and Meiko tried it—and nearly screamed in delight!

They finished their lunch in under twenty minutes, leaving nothing behind except the scallions and ginger. Even the soup had been devoured.

"I'm stuffed... so full!"

Meiko Kazama abandoned all pretense of ladylike manners, slumping back in her seat with a satisfied expression.

Mitsy Nohara sighed, "If I had even half of Asuka's cooking skills, even a five-star hotel wouldn't be able to hire me!"

Asuka, however, didn't respond. She simply started gathering the dishes.

"Asuka, leave it. I'll clean up once I rest." Mitsy Nohara quickly stopped her.

"It's fine, Sister Mitsy. You and Sister Meiko should lie down and take a nap."

Despite Asuka's protests, Mitsy Nohara firmly insisted, pulling her to the living room.

Asuka hesitated but eventually gave in. As she looked at Mitsy, something about the woman's energy and determination struck her deeply.

She touched her chest, where her heart was beating strangely fast.

"System, what just happened to me?"
