Chapter 52: Searching for a Savior
“The Spear of Witchcraft” recorded thus:
In the year 214 of Babylon, the Kingdom of Roses was at the height of its power, and the Kingdom of Babylon was defeated. The line of orthodox witches was reduced to vassals, and Babylon officially entered the Dark Ages.
"I must go to the Kingdom of Roses up in the mountains to serve the wicked witches…"
"Forget about me…"
In the kingdom's streets and alleys, husbands tearfully saying goodbye to their wives and daughters has become a common sight. Though they suffered and mourned, each of them chose to sacrifice themselves and resolutely walked into the jaws of death.
They knew that with their weak spirits, they would certainly die once those wicked witches finished indulging themselves.
Almost everywhere, you could see people saying their final goodbyes.
And such days would continue. In the kingdom of Babylon, a hundred men would be sacrificed every month.
In the Babylonian Kingdom, men no longer needed to work.
They only had one job: to procreate, and then procreate some more. They had been completely reduced to reproductive tools, and each man had at least a dozen wives. The man's daily task was to frantically sow his seeds so that his dozen wives could give birth to more sons, who would then be offered to the Kingdom of Roses for the enjoyment of the evil witches.
But even so, in the future, women would far outnumber men in the Kingdom of Babylon, with a ratio of ten to one.
Such unbearable humiliation.
In the royal palace of Babylon.
Lilith sat listlessly on a bench by the entrance to the throne room; she was too ashamed to sit on the throne.
Before her were the sixteen male wizards who were about to be sent to the Rose Sect to be humiliated.
As orthodox wizards, they were different from ordinary males and could withstand the rampaging spiritual power of witches who were lost in ecstasy. This meant that they wouldn’t die easily and would be tortured for a long time.
They would face unparalleled misery and be squeezed dry every single day.
"I’ve wronged you all…" Lilith sighed, smiling bitterly. "Especially you, Garfield."
The wizard Garfield was one of the strongest magicians in Babylon and was only slightly weaker than Lilith. He was the most handsome man in all of Babylon and was gentle and kind. Countless women in the kingdom had fallen for him and he had many secret admirers, but he strictly adhered to the Three Iron Laws of Magicians and stayed chaste.
Garfield had a gentle expression on his face as he sighed and comforted Lilith. "It's not your fault. The two of you are equally talented, but their wicked method of training is simply too fast. It's only natural that she would become a Fifth Level witch before you."
Lilith fell silent and whispered, "I'll try my best to become a Fifth Level witch and save you all. I’ll repay her for this humiliation."
Garfield shook his head and laughed bitterly. "That’s impossible. She let you remain on the throne instead of killing you because she knows that it's impossible for you to surpass her. Her progress is much faster than ours!"
"And now that she has sixteen male wizards, I’m afraid that her progress will be three or four times faster."
Garfield sighed.
He and Lilith had been lovers since childhood. They were childhood sweethearts who deeply loved one another and underwent the ritual to become magicians together. They survived taking in the blood of the Evil Eye, and from then on had maintained a loving relationship without any real physical contact.
Their love was beautiful and pure.
This was a sacrifice that orthodox magicians had to make. The love between wizards and witches was a pure and chaste love. The guardian deities of Babylon had to sacrifice much in order to protect their kingdom.
And now, Medusa wanted to steal her lover, Garfield, and turn him into her concubine, how could Lilith not be angry?
Garfield sighed. "It's alright. Leave the rest to me. I'll endure her ministrations and find a way to change everything. I’ll defeat that unimaginable monster!"
Lilith could do nothing but weep.
On this day, the entire nation was in mourning. Led by Garfield, sixteen wizards and one hundred ordinary men departed.
"Is this the will of heaven? Are we fated to die?" In the Babylonian throne room, Lilith murmured blankly.
The Kingdom of Babylon, year 265.
More than fifty years have passed since they lost the war.
After fifty years, thanks to the sixteen male wizards, Medusa successfully broke through to the Sixth Level and reached the same terrifying height as the Three Witches of the past, living up to her title of Emperor of the Nation of Roses.
The Witch of Death Medusa, known throughout the world as the "Supreme Emperor who rules over Death", was now absolutely invincible!
After sixty years, Lilith fell further and further behind. Though she trained diligently, toiling for more than ten hours a day and pushing herself to the edge of madness, she was still a Fourth Level witch on the verge of breaking through to the Fifth Level.
The Rose Sect did whatever it pleased.
More and more orthodox witches joined their evil sisters everyday.
"The Rose Sect is the rightful successor!" No one dared to respond.
"The legendary witch Circe was scorned in life, but after her death, history has proven that it was the other two witches who were in the wrong!" The traditional witches hid in remote corners of the world, and none dared to argue.
Their time was over, and history was gradually leaving them behind.
……..
Xu Zhi: ???
Everything happened so quickly, he hadn’t been able to react at all.
"So suddenly?"
"It's only been a night or so; I only browsed the forums and matched wits with those guys, and suddenly, you’re about to be done in by Circe’s forces? Are you not ashamed to face the Two Witches who once fought evenly against Circe?"
The evil witches have brought about a Dark Age. Their progress was certainly very fast thanks to their unorthodox techniques, but their tyranny stifled human potential, and the path of civilization has gone off the rails. Without orthodox witches to develop civilization, it would be very difficult for the alchemy that Xu Zhi desired to appear.
If this goes on, my cancer cannot be cured!
"I must search for a genius who can turn the tide." Xu Zhi felt a bit of a headache. There was so much that a Creator needed to worry about.
In the primordial era, Gilgamesh had appeared to lead his people out of their difficult situation.
In the era of decline following the Great Flood, there were the Three Witches to lead the people out of their predicament.
The current era however, had no successor. No peerless genius had descended from heaven to become the great hero who would define this era.
After all, it was simply too difficult!
The Witch of Death Medusa, the "Supreme Emperor who rules over Death", was a terrifyingly powerful Sixth Level Legendary Witch, who could challenge her?
It was estimated that even the heights that Gilgamesh had once reached was only equivalent to a Seventh Level Epic Witch in the current system.
"I originally thought that Lilith would be able to recover; her shame would only push her to become stronger than ever. Climbing to the top after having fallen to the bottom is a common plotline in novels these days… But even with her lover snatched away, she still hasn't made a move after sixty years of silence."
Xu Zhi laughed bitterly, but felt that this was only natural.
After all, though Lilith was indeed a genius, she was not the kind of astonishing genius who only appeared once every thousands of years. The gap between them would only grow ever wider.
And it wasn’t likely that the Phoenix would be able to help either.
It still dwelled in the desert and was beginning to show a rudimentary measure of intellect. After taking over the world, the Witch Emperor Medusa had visited the desert once and got injured by the Phoenix as a result. She was horrified.
"How can there be such a terrifying creature in this world? It’s clearly still an infant, but it’s already at the same frightening height as a Seventh Level witch. Could this be a newborn deity who came from heaven?"
Medusa was truly shocked. If the phoenix had meant to kill her, she would have died instantly; the difference of one level was huge. She silently returned to the royal palace and recuperated for several years.
Xu Zhi didn't know what to say. Medusa had followed in Gilgamesh's footsteps, and had begun to explore the world now that she was invincible under heaven. "Is there no hero who can save this world!? This is too unreasonable! Evil reigns and good is all but extinguished? Is there no justice in this world?"
Xu Zhi had a terrible headache, "My alchemical potions…"
Lilith has already waited for sixty years, and things looked completely hopeless for her.
No peerless genius would appear to save the world, and it was now up to him to introduce a peerless genius.
"But how?" Xu Zhi frowned, "I need someone like Gilgamesh or the Three Witches, a one in a million talent with peerless wisdom and ability… Only then can that person start his training from the ground up and still have hope of defeating a terrifying Sixth Level existence!"
But where could he find someone like that?
After pondering the issue for a moment, Xu Zhi calmly smiled. He had gotten an idea after peering into the smaller sandbox.
Didn’t he have a Big Boss right here?
If one looked at his resume, then it almost seemed as if he had lived life aided by cheat codes. He was a genius with terrifying accomplishments at only forty years old, and was a leader in the tech industry worth tens of billions of dollars.
At this moment, this person was immersed in the game, and was trying his best to climb the tech tree within the sandbox as a farmer and scientist. "Good thing I have a backup plan. Bro, please help me take care of this little problem… I'll let you enter my sandbox world and climb the tech tree to your heart's content."
