She Is Not a Witch

15: Farewell

The books in the wooden box contained theories and methods from the girl’s previous world, covering many topics including food production, crop rotation, basic education in mathematics, physics, politics, philosophy, as well as national commerce and monetary economics.

These were compiled by the girl using library cards to consult Earth’s classics, essentially a miniature encyclopedia touching on various aspects.

The final fruit was from the Amber Red Maple tree, a natural panacea beneficial for healing, detoxification, improving constitution, aiding cultivation, and temporarily enhancing strength, among other effects.

In a sense, this fruit could be used in any difficult situation to turn the tide, serving as the final trump card given to Pullman. Thus, the girl used it to represent luck.

After gradually finishing preparations, on the second morning as dawn broke, with birds cooing in the treetops and dewdrops still glistening on the grass, Pullman awoke.

In truth, he had barely slept all night, his heart filled with various emotions – anticipation and fear for the future, as well as reluctance to part.

Regardless, this teacher was truly too beautiful. Thinking that he might never see such a person again, he couldn’t help feeling regretful.

After packing his belongings, he gazed at the dense forest. Every morning, the silver-haired girl would emerge from it to teach him the day’s lessons. Now that the lessons were over, would she still appear?

After waiting for a while, the girl’s white figure still hadn’t appeared. Pullman sighed softly, stretched his body, and prepared to leave.

Just as he picked up his bundle and took his first step, that familiar yet ethereal voice came from not far behind.

“You haven’t paid your tuition yet.”

He turned to find Loranhil still wearing that white dress, sitting on a tree branch, smiling beautifully, just like when they first met.

“What does teacher need?”

After their time together, Pullman understood that this teacher was certainly not a materialistic person pursuing money and wealth.

Loranhil had initially thought to name an astronomical number of gold coins, but seeing the plainly dressed young man, she knew he couldn’t produce it, so she considered something else.

If only he had money now, I’d like to get rich overnight too, the girl thought.

“The tuition I want isn’t something that can be easily dismissed, and I’ve told you about the concept of shares before.”

“If you establish a great country in the future, I’ll have played a part in that. Do you understand?”

“I understand, teacher. I get it.”

Pullman wore an expression of comprehension, as if he truly understood.

What exactly did this guy understand? Loranhil felt somewhat confused.

“Well, if you understand, that’s fine.”

“Stay alive and come back. Don’t die, or there’ll be no one to repay the debt.”

“Yes, thank you, teacher. I’ll definitely come back alive.”

With that, Pullman waved goodbye to the girl, and his figure slowly disappeared into the distance.

Watching the young man leave, the girl felt slightly melancholic. She would be living alone again.

Although she had taught Pullman a lot, the girl didn’t have high hopes. Perhaps they would never meet again.

[Life isn’t that long…]

[When you’re waiting]

[For that tiny hope]

[Patience… yet nowhere to be found]

The girl’s gentle singing voice began to ripple slowly through the forest.

[Shadows…]

[Fill your life]

[Don’t be discouraged]

[Don’t be heartbroken]

[Don’t waste any more time]

[On such things]

[Everything will slowly change]

….

[Even with broken wings]

[Nothing can stop you]

[One day, you will arrive]

She closed her eyes, recalling songs from her previous life, singing softly.

[It’s a long night]

[When you’re searching]

[But can’t see hope]

[Your heart is so lost]

[You want to escape this pain]

[I know it seems meaningless]

[I know it’s extremely hypocritical]

[I know it’s hard to bear]

[Just one more day]

[One more step forward]

[Even covered in wounds]

[Even with broken wings]

[Nothing can stop your flight]

[One day]

[You will see]

[That miraculous starlight]

Although she had come to a world completely different from her previous one, she still hoped that the people she knew could live better lives and fulfill their wishes. She was ultimately soft-hearted and didn’t want to see overly tragic endings.

As Loranhil closed her eyes in prayer, in an instant, the cloud layers over the entire Tisilan Mountain Range parted, as if an invisible ring expanded in the sky, countless layers of clouds dissipating into nothingness.

From the White Cliff Plateau in the far west of the continent to Dragon Watch Port in the eastern Verdant Empire, from the ancient Gufia Grasslands in the north to the Red Tree Islands in the south, people witnessed a miracle. The azure sky, centered on a point in the central mountain range of the continent, rippled open into a perfectly enormous circle.

Within this majestic circle, not a single cloud shadow remained. The azure sky was like an extremely pure and clear jewel, tinged with a gorgeous light purple, with numerous shimmering stars appearing in the sky above. Even in daylight, one could see them twinkling behind in some precise pattern.

At this moment, all winds across the continent temporarily ceased flowing. Those who looked up at this boundless, magnificent, and resplendent sky felt a desperate sense of insignificance, as if their very existence was completely engulfed and merged into it.

At the pinnacle of the world, on the high tower of the Emenas Central Academy, the gray-robed sages all stood up to gaze into the distance.

Soon after, countless owls flew out from the academy, heading towards the capital of every country on the continent, announcing the new revelation issued by the sages who followed the ancient covenant.

On a distant island in the Whirlpool Sea to the west, in eternal night without light, an island large enough for millions to live on.

In the center of the island stood a cluster of Gothic black towers and castles.

At this moment, two young women in black dresses stood by the railing of a high tower, gazing at that breathtaking azure in the distant horizon.

“It seems we have another sister awakening.”

“How extraordinary.”

“Indeed. Even for us who have lived for thousands of years, this is the first time we’ve seen such a sight.”

“This world is about to become lively again.”

“Yes. Sorry, Hades, I’m afraid I can’t accompany you for the New Moon Festival this time. I want to go see and find that newborn sister right away.”

“No need to apologize, Daytis. If I weren’t unable to leave this place, I’d probably be as curious and eager as you. After all, our companions are becoming fewer and fewer.”

“Thanks, Hades. I’ll be off then. Next time, I’ll bring you some goldfish cakes from the Golden Daffodil Kingdom as an apology.”

One of the young women, with golden hair and silver eyes, leapt from the balcony in her Martin boots. A fantastical carriage caught her in mid-air. Then, two black unicorns with blue flame hooves began running through the sky, pulling the carriage eastward.

Watching the golden-haired, silver-eyed girl leave in a hurry, the remaining black-haired girl smiled and shook her head.

“After all these years, you’re still as lively as ever.”

Young Pullman listened to the ethereal singing, his heart filled with emotions, but he still didn’t look back.

Don’t worry, teacher, I will definitely survive.

I will spread your ideas and thoughts far and wide, showing the world through actual great deeds.

There is a sage named Loranhil who has brought completely new concepts and revolution to this world, conveying a dream worth striving, fighting, and sacrificing for by all.

That is to establish a just and righteous, wise and brave, prosperous and equal nation.

If I can’t accomplish it, then let my students, my descendants, inherit this dream. Generation after generation, continuously trying, fighting, striving, until the miraculous starlight descends.

I think this is the “tuition” you spoke of.
