Chapter 768: Flipped
Michael darted his eyes around at the sky when the whole sky suddenly began to flare with lightning and thunder.
He scoffed at that fast reaction from his father. And he mumbled to himself, "Of course. She is his pet project after all. The perfect creation. No, she is the epitome of perfection among the sea of perfects."
"Father!" Tobias shook his father by grabbing onto his shoulder and urged, "We cannot dwell here for long. Please."
"Let me enjoy the show for a while, Tobias!" Michael said very calmly.
He watched the thunder and lightning unafraid. And he turned his gaze at Ariel to watch her struggle.
She was trying to get that gigantic spear out of her body while screaming in agony at the same time.
Michael knew that Ariel wouldn't die from that attack. Tobias had missed all of her vital organs. Even so, he was greatly entertained by the sound of her screams.
But the others were all scared for Ariel.
Niylah wanted to help but doubted she would be able to take that spear out of Ariel's body when she was stuck in the wolf form.
Kenneth was also in great pain. His wounds were taking longer to heal even with Joyce's help. But he couldn't bear to hear Ariel's screams. He grabbed Joyce's palms and he pleaded in a labored voice, "Joyce, I think Ariel needs your help more than I do."
Joyce looked at Ariel. She was in bad shape. She had thought that Ariel would be able to heal herself. But for some reason, she was still struggling.
And now, she was torn between helping Ariel and saving Kenneth.
Kenneth urged her again, "Joyce, help her first. Please!"
Joyce nodded breathlessly and immediately ran to Ariel's aid. And upon reaching Ariel's side, Joyce felt every part of her body trembling.
"Holy mother!" Joyce pressed her trembling palm over her lips. Her eyes were stuck on that icy spear.
The spear was thicker than the size of her arm. If she was going to pull that out, Ariel was going to have a hole in her body. She was already losing so much blood. She was going to lose much more when that spear was taken out.
Joyce used her trembling hands to grab onto that spear. And she prepared herself mentally to pull it out.
She also warned Ariel, "Ary, I am going to take this out of your body and then heal you. Maybe you and I both can work together to stop the bleeding and regenerate the cells."
Ariel grabbed Joyce's hand. She wanted to tell her not to worry. She wanted to show the healing pill to Joyce. But she could sense that Michael and Tobias hadn't returned to the Heaven realm yet. So she had to hide it and also not use it.
"Okay, on the count of three I will pull," Joyce warned Ariel again. And she began to count, "One, two…" Before she said 'three', she pulled that spear and threw it aside.
Ariel screamed so loudly and her energy resonated so well with her surrounding that all the torches that were lit around the castle were suddenly affected. For a split second, the flames on all the torches rose high up in the air and it looked like it was bright day instead of night.
That sudden surge of energy made Michael to take a step back.
"What on Earth?" he mumbled to himself. He then turned to look at his son and asked, "Did you even wear her out? Why does she still have such immense power left in her body?"
Tobias was afraid of his father doubting him. But he still defensively shouted, "I did wear her out. I wore myself out."
"I doubt that." Michael glared at his son for a while. And to his dislike, he noticed his son flinching and showing sympathy towards Ariel whenever the pitch of her scream increased. So, he asked again, "Why don't you help Ariel by finishing her off? Right now? Before your grandfather decides to show up in flesh?"
This time, Tobias was done taking orders from his father. If things became bad, he thought of sneaking his mother out of the heavenly palace and sending her to live with his grandparents. And then he himself thought of wandering around in the universe, hiding from his father's clutch.

So, he sighed and replied to his father a bit sternly, "If you don't want to go home, then I will go alone. I don't want grandfather to come down here, and insult us and punish us in front of the mortals."
Immediately after saying that, Tobias disappeared from there without caring about the consequence. All he wanted to do at the moment was to compel his father to follow him back to Heaven so that Ariel could swallow the pill and get healed. He couldn't bear to keep on watching Ariel's struggle.
Michael got so enraged by that defiance from his son that within a second, his mood flipped.
He immediately held out his palms to conjure up some ice daggers and spears that he could use to kill his perfect niece. He forgot that there would be severe consequences if he went through with it.
Joyce happened to see Michael right at that moment. She instantly knew what he was going to do since she had seen him doing the exact same hand movements countless times in her nightmare.
And almost on a reflex, Joyce got up on her feet. And she started to perform the same complex hand movements that she used to do in her nightmare to throw out fireballs from her palms.
Michael furrowed his brows because Joyce's stance, her confidence, her rage, and her hand movements felt very familiar; almost as if he had met the same girl before somewhere.
Suddenly, that human girl shot a large ball of fire at Michael.
Michael dodged it. He kept on staring at Joyce. But he couldn't quite remember where he had seen that woman.
Joyce, on the other hand, had not expected the fire to actually shoot out of her hand like that.
Michael's ego was further bruised when a human dared to attack him. And instead of throwing the ice daggers at Ariel, he threw them at Joyce first.
"Joy! I found– Arghhhh…" Damien happened to teleport in front of Joyce at the exact same time Michael threw his daggers. And he got stabbed by those daggers instead of Joyce. "What the hell?"
"Damien!" Joyce exclaimed and flung herself forward to support Damien.
Damien grunted and rested his chin on Joyce's shoulder. One of the ice daggers missed Damien's spine by an inch. He was in anguish and felt as if he was going to pass out. But then his eyes fell on Ariel who was lying on the ground with a huge hole in her stomach.
"Ariel!" he screamed in a voice so loud that it echoed far and wide.
