Chapter 15: Game of Kisses

had to step up my game heh

Sunny barely had a moment to enjoy his victory before he realized...he had made a grave mistake.

Nephis wasn't flustered. Not anymore.

She had just accepted the challenge he was most likely presuming.

His smirk faltered as she leaned in slightly, her silver eyes watching him with quiet amusement.

"You think we're even?" she asked, voice light.

Sunny's instincts screamed at him. He had seen this look before, maybe admist a battle during the Forgotten Shore.

Still, he refused to back down. He forced himself to hold her gaze, his expression indifferent.

"Obviously."

Nephis hummed, considering that for a moment. Then, before he could react, she moved.

Soft lips pressing against his cheek.

'Not fair.'

She pulled away before he could retaliate, her smirk deepening. "Now we're even."

No.

Sunny wasn't done yet.

Sunny narrowed his eyes. Without hesitation, he leaned in and kissed her cheek in return quick, but precise. Just to make a point.

Nephis blinked, then let out a soft hum of acknowledgment. "I see."

A pause.

Then, without warning, she kissed him again.

This time, the corner of his jaw.

Sunny tensed.

Fine.

He moved before she could pull back, returning the favor with a kiss to the side of her jaw, smug at the way she stilled for half a second.

Nephis studied him, a glint of something unreadable in her gaze. Then, she tilted her head , and kissed the edge of his mouth.

Sunny's brain short-circuited.

(admist of rechecking and rewriting envisioning this looks so stupid they're sat side by side just reaching in to kiss each other at spots of their face so stupid)

That..

That was...

'If that's what you want then.' He smirked.

He moved on instinct, lips brushing the same spot on her, just barely missing her lips.

Nephis blinked, then let out a soft chuckle.

And then-

Another kiss.

Then another.

And suddenly, it was a battle.

A Game of who could Kiss the other the most.

Them constantly switching positions, one on the top of each other.

If anyone could saw, they knew that Sunny was losing.

Nephis was relentless, matching him move for move, countering each kiss with another, always just a little closer, never enough to be too much, but just enough to drive him insane.

His heart pounded, his thoughts scrambled, and for the first time in his life, he realized he had no plan.

Till it clicked.

With new found determination to stop this and win this once and for all, he had to step up his game.

Laughter rang out nearby, Effie was trying to wrestle something out of Kai's hands while Cassie, unaware of the exact details of their struggle, cheered them both on. It was a loud, energetic scene, full of warmth and camaraderie.

But within the shadows that stretched between them, Sunny and Nephis existed in a different world.

Their lips met in soft, teasing brushes at first, testing what the other would think.

It was slow.

Until it wasn't.

Nephis was the one to press forward this time, her lips barely lingering against his before pulling back, a ghost of a smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth.

Sunny didn't let it slide.

His hand found her wrist, fingers brushing against the inside of her palm as he tilted his head slightly, meeting her lips again, deeper this time. She responded in kind, her free hand resting lightly against his forearm.

They broke apart for only a breath before returning, the pace picking up in unspoken competition. There was no hesitation anymore, no testing eachother.

Just the quiet sound of lips meeting.

It was a dangerous game.

And Sunny wasn't one to lose.

With the barest flicker of his will, the shadows around them stirred. A low hum filled the air as a thick, swirling darkness formed into a dome, rising high around them, shutting them off from the outside world.

The barrier stood tall, shaped like a semi circle around them from the outside, yet within, it held a soft glow illuminating only the two of them.

Nephis blinked, momentarily distracted, just as Sunny took his chance.

He moved fast.

In one fluid motion, he lunged forward, pressing into her space until she was forced back onto the soft grass beneath them.

A sharp inhale left her lips, but she didn't stop him.

Her silver hair spread across the ground like starlight woven into silk, the dim glow of the enclosed space casting delicate shadows across her face.

Sunny hovered over her, his weight braced against his arms, trapping her in place.

His eyes flickered to hers, searching... waiting.

Nephis looked back at him, expression unreadable.

And then, she tilted her head to the side, unknowingly baring her throat just slightly.

It was only meant for her to tilt her head like an owl, like a 'What?' expression.

However, Sunny saw that as an invitation.

For a moment, he hesitated, his mind screaming at him to stop, to think, to consider the consequences.

But then she blinked up at him, her lips slightly parted, her chest rising and falling in steady, measured breaths, and suddenly,

He wasn't thinking anymore.

He leaned in.

The first press of his lips against her neck was on impulse.

A long kiss against the curve where her jaw met her throat.

But then he moved lower.

Another kiss.

A teasing brush of his nose against her skin.

Nephis's breath hitched, her fingers twitching against the fabric of his sleeve.

Sunny smirked.

And then, he bit.

Not hard.

Just enough.

Enough for her body to stiffen, for a quiet, barely audible exhale to escape her lips. He felt the shiver that passed through her, the faintest tension in her muscles before they relaxed beneath him.

A thrill shot through his veins.

He lingered for just a second longer before pressing another slow, deliberate kiss against the skin he had just marked.

And then, just as quickly, he pulled back. He freed his grasp on her arms.

Sunny ran a hand over his mouth, wiping away the faint warmth left behind.

Nephis remained still beneath him, her fingers tightening slightly against the grass.

And then, as she sat up, her gaze locked onto his

A faint, unmistakable flush colored her cheeks.

Victory.
