Shadow Slave: Divergence of Hereos

Chapter 24: Chapter 23: Meeting the young Shadow

Chapter 23: Meeting the young Shadow

'I guess today is the day.' I couldn't help but think as it approached being around a month before the Solstice.

I could already see them…the 2 Divine Aspect holders and the duo that was destined to change this entire world.

Nephis was around the corner of the room seemingly trying to not attract any attention…but in stark contrast there was also Sunless.

Sunny was going around being branded as a massive pervert to most people.

It was a smart play on his part, the more people thought of him as an idiot the less questions they would have.

Seeing how the character who basically helped me live for a part of my life behaved in front of me, I couldn't help but find it comedic.

Also, at no point since the moment I had found out I was inside of this world did I even think of uttering Sunlesss's true name.

That had to be in the top 3 things to not do in this world. Since if you actually believed you could tame this Young Shadow, you have another coming.

As I descended to the ground floor, I felt the weight of stares on me. Despite not engaging in any public sparring sessions, a strange reputation had grown around me. Perhaps it was the confidence I'd gained from my time with Mori Jin. People in the Academy seemed to think I was its strongest fighter.

My eyes fell on Cassie, seated at a table by herself. Her government-appointed caretaker had stepped away, leaving her alone. I approached, knowing full well the implications of what I was about to do.

"May I join you here…Miss?" I asked her, keeping my voice calm and polite.

"Huh…oh, my name is Cassie. You want to join me? Why?" she asked, clearly confused by my request.

"Because everyone else seems a little snobbish to me," I replied casually.

"Urm…are you sure? If you do join me, people might judge you. I am blind, you see…so I'm basically a walking corpse," she said, insecurity thick in her voice.

"Outsiders' opinions mean nothing to me," I said. She hesitated but then nodded, gesturing for me to sit.

"My names Klaus, by the way." I mentioned to Cassie, to which she nodded.

I watched with a small smile on my face as Sunny went around and continued to make a fool of himself.

After he was done, he saw that most people had avoided Cassie and I, so he sat at the edge of our table while Awakened Rock had begun his explanation.

I tuned out Awakened Rock and simply used my instincts to observe Sunless.

Beneath all of the external layers, I knew right now he was nothing more than a truly scared kid. Not even a shell of the future glory.

The man who would be known as the Lord of the Shadows, Bastard Child of Fate and the Devil of Antarctica.

It is to the point that Sunny threatened even the Prince of Nothing that he should be watching his back in every single Shadow in existence.

A threat that should honestly be taken seriously.

After Rock was done and everyone was moving away, I glanced towards Sunless who then looked at me.

It was time to have an…interesting conversation to say the least.

"Hey, what's your name?" I questioned the young man with Alabaster hair.

"Sunless." Sunny replied instantly, as he looked at me properly with curiosity in his eyes.

"That's an interesting name…don't you think?" I questioned.

"Well what can I say, my mother was a little poetic." He replied as he observed Cassie and me more.

"Ah, I am Klaus, and this is Cassie." I mentioned Sunny, to which he nodded.

A playful smirk appeared on my face as I asked him, "Did I hear it right that you were able to kill an Awakened Tyrant? And that you have a Divine ranked Aspect?"

"Of course! Why would I ever lie?" Sunny said as a small smile appeared on his face.

This narcissistic bastard was probably patting himself on his back right now.

"Yeah…why would you. I believe you." I told him, as I stood up right.

As I did, I guided Cassie in standing up as well and directed her towards her helper, while I towered over Sunny.

I forgot his specific height, but true to his novel counterpart, Sunless was not really tall.

"You're…short. Don't you think so?"

Normally, people wouldn't reply to these types of questions, but Sunny's flaw compelled him to respond.

"I think I am at an adequate height in regards to the things around me," he replied, gritting his teeth slightly.

"Hmm, you didn't answer my question though. Do you think you're short? Yes or no." I asked, my smile changing into a visible smirk.

"Damnation…Yes." He whispered, barely audible to us, which caused Cassie to laugh a little.

Sunny stared at me with anger on his face…or was that his petty face of 'I will get revenge.' I couldn't tell.

"Alright I think we will make our move." I told Sunless who ignored me.

I turned back a little and then stared right at Sunny's shadow. Then, I looked forward and walked away back to my training quarters.

'This bastard…damn him.' Sunny couldn't help but think.

His Shadow shivered a little, agreeing with him.

The following day, I finally decided to participate in the combat classes. It wasn't out of necessity—I had little to gain from the instructors.

Ruyi Jingu was more than enough to teach me everything I needed about staff arts, and the crude, unmanned techniques they were teaching here didn't interest me.

It was more because I was curious how well the current Changing Star fought.

Authors note:

Unfortunately this isn't a continuation of the fanfic. I simply had a couple of spare chapters I wanted to upload.

I am currently trying a new project, which is basically my own novel but I will be uploading it as a fanfic since honestly I write mainly for interaction with people.

I write to share ideas and run through scenarios with people, so I hope you will try my new project out.

It is called "Eternal Heir."

Do not subscribe to patreon for this fanfic anymore thanks.
