Shadow Slave: Divergence of Hereos

Chapter 20: Chapter 19: Tarot Gathering

Chapter 19: Tarot Gathering

(Klein)

"Arodes," Klein called out while he was sitting on his seat in the world above the grey fog.

"Yes, Great Master? Your loyal, humble and puny servant is here to serve!" The words on the mirror in front of Klein formed the second he called out.

"What happened to the girl inside of the image produced by the Sefriot?"

Klein was simply observing the duo from the grey fog, when it turns out that something drastic had happened to the both of them at the same time.

Arodes paused for a moment, before some words formed on the mirror.

"Great Master, the girl named Cassie, has undergone her first Nightmare and her flaw was the loss of her sight." Arodes mentioned to Klein who simply stared at the image of the scared young girl.

Well, it was at least good that she had survived her first trial.

"Great Master, would you like to know more about the powers she has awakened as a result of the Nightmare Spel?"

'What a wonderful question as per usual, Arodes.' Klein couldn't help but think as he nodded slightly.

"Very well Great Master. Cassie has an Aspect related to memories. She is able to peer into her future memories as of right now.

I even suspect that in the future, she might be able to peer into the memories of 'possible timelines,' of what is happening."

Klein nodded as he asked his next question, "Do you think she might be able to sense the Sefriot or me?"

"Great Master, your power knows no bounds! Your strength might have been temporarily sealed, but just with her Dormant ability of her Sacred ranked aspect, she would not be able to sense your presence in this world!" Arodes narrated, bootliking Klein the entire time.

He really was like a loyal servant, waiting to be praised by his master for the smallest of things.

"Alright, well what is happening with the other man right now?" Klein then questioned the next potential man for the Tarot Club.

"Harvey Specter, has recently offended a legacy clan while undergoing a legal case. Right now he has received threats from the lawyers of the Legacy clans to back off."

Klein looked at the image of Harvey, who was calmly sipping on what seemed to be a glass of whiskey as he stared at the view from his house.

The man didn't have an ounce of self doubt on his face, as he navigated his problems with extreme confidence.

"Great Master, may this puny servant ask his question now?" Arodes requested, to which Klein nodded.

"Should I keep track of Cassie and Harvey while simultaneously periodically updating you?"

"Yes." Klein replied, amused by Arrodes as per usual. "That will be all for now."

"Your humble servant will be awaiting your call, Great Master."

As Arrodes's words left the mirror, Klein looked towards the 2 stars at the top of the Grey Fog.

Maybe…it was time.

(Harvey)

Looking at the view he had from his house as he sipped on his whiskey, Harvey Specter couldn't help but sigh a little.

He took up the folder of the current case he was undergoing…against the Emberwing Clan. One of their Awakened had destroyed a building when he lost control in the Waking world.

The owner of the property, a mundane tycoon with the name of Leyon was the owner of the property and Harveys client.

Leyon requested that Harvey sue the Emberwing clan for property damages.

This wasn't the first time Harvey had participated in a Case like this, losing control seemed to happen for the Awakened, and most Legacy clans quickly settled their cases since they didn't want the news to become public and due to the laws by the Government.

But in this particular case…Harvey was being blackmailed by the otherside to drop the suit.

He couldn't specifically tell why they were being so dramatic about the case…but he did know that he couldn't operate as he did in his old world.

While he did have confidence in himself, in this world of the supernatural, anything was possible.

So he had to proceed with caution.

He put down his glass of whiskey as he was devising a game plan for his case.

During the settlement meeting with the lawyers from the otherside, they did mention that the loss of control of an Awakened can happen due to a multitude of reasons.

And that this specific Awakened had lost control due to the 'Environmental Factors,' inside of his clients building.

"What a load of bullshit." Harvey muttered out loud.

The second he said that, he could feel something happen to him…something mystical.

For a split second, Harvey wondered if he was affected by the Nightmare Spell.

As Harvey muttered under his breath, the room seemed to shift, as if reality itself bent for a moment.

The air around him thickened, and an unnatural stillness filled the space, making the city view from his penthouse window blur.

Harvey sat upright, his hand reaching toward the whiskey glass—but before he could move, the world around him dissolved.

It was as though someone had drawn back a veil, pulling him into a realm that existed beyond what he could comprehend.

In an instant, Harvey found himself standing in a dimly lit, eerie place. The fog swirled around his feet, cool and damp, and the faint scent of ancient paper and dust hung in the air.

The architecture around him was old, unfamiliar, and suspended in a void of grey mist. The flickering light from an ancient brass lamp barely illuminated the large, circular table in the centre.

He blinked, attempting to grasp where he was. Everything felt surreal, dreamlike, yet more real than anything he had ever experienced in his life.

"Where the hell am I?" he muttered, eyes narrowing.

Suddenly, a figure appeared at the head of the table, seated in a high-backed chair. Clad in an old-fashioned, dark robe with a strange aura surrounding him, the figure had a pale, obscured face, his features blurred by an ever-present mist.

Harvey's sharp mind kicked into overdrive, trying to make sense of the situation.

"What's this?" Harvey replied, keeping his usual swagger despite the situation. "A client meeting in some dream realm? Because this is a pretty elaborate set-up for legal consultation."

"An attempt." The man who was seated said calmly, as 2 other figures began to form inside of the grey fog.

As the mist swirled and condensed around the table, two more figures took shape alongside the seated man, their faces obscured by the ever-present fog.

On Harvey's left, a young woman stood hesitantly, her posture tense, betraying the fear coursing through her.

Her light blond hair matted slightly from stress, and she wore a plain, loose-fitting outfit, as though she had just been uncaring about what she was wearing.

Her eyes, though open, were unfocused and blank. Her hands trembled at her sides, clenched tightly into fists as though she was ready to defend herself against unseen threats.

Though her face was obscured by the mist, her expression seemed tight with fear and confusion, as if she was still coming to terms with her new reality. She tilted her head slightly, as if trying to rely on the sounds around her, her vulnerability palpable in the unsettling atmosphere.

On his right, the third figure stood with an unnerving stillness. The man was taller, more imposing, dressed in a long, dark coat that hung like shadows over his broad form.

His hands were tucked behind his back, exuding an air of calculated menace. Despite the mist covering his face, there was something about him—an aura of power, cold and unwavering.

The man opened his mouth, as if he was about to say something. Yet before he could even start, the girl who had just appeared opened her mouth and uttered.

"Good Morning, Mr Fool."
