Shadow Slave: Divergence of Hereos

Chapter 13: Chapter 12: Research

Chapter 12: Research

(Klein)

Klein, after having some food returned to his apartment, trying to digest all the new information he had just received.

Right now he was in the 'Waking' World, and not the 'Dream' realm where most of the Awakened of this world go to.

Klein couldn't help but wonder if for him, a beyonder and not an awakened, it was possible to make it to that world.

But for now, that was unknown.

There were also ranks for these Awakened and similarly ranks for the nightmare creatures of this world as well.

The 3 Great Clans of this world, the main legacy clans…everything was found out inside of the internet of this world.

However, Klein was having a problem finding a place where he could freely 'act' as a seer.

He didn't want to draw the attention of his father, yet he also couldn't not act as a Seer.

He also had to remember to follow the rules of a Seer.

A Seer possesses reverence toward fate.

To help others interpret revelations and guide them in a better direction; yet constantly maintain one's fear and respect towards fate.

One cannot be too egoistical, too proud, or blindly believe one's interpretations.

Divination isn't all-powerful.

If he didn't act as a Seer, he couldn't digest his potion and move onto higher sequences, so Klein did have to digest his Seer potion.

'I can always advance quickly till I become Faceless once more and disappear from this location…' Klein couldn't help but think.

From his understanding, his father barely visited the waking world, and spent 99% of his time in the Dream realm.

By the time sufficient information was passed to him, Klein would be able to cover his tracks.

Yet this definitely drew attention towards him…maybe it was time to build a portfolio of sorts so that his new hobbies wouldn't bring too much attention.

Since Mardock was not really well known, his interests were not known to the public.

This was something that Klein couldn't definitely take advantage of.

As Klein returned to his room, he walked 4 steps counter-clockwise and entered the grey fog.

Klein then looked in the sky of the Grey Fog and saw 2 shining stars calling out to him, pulsating.

He laminated, knowing that these 2 would be different from the originals…

But that was not for right now, it was not time for the 'Fool' to enter into this world…yet.

As he sat on the seat of 'The Fool,' he called out to Arrodes.

"Arrodes."

"Yes, Great Master?" The Fools servant replied instantly, pleased his master had finally called out to him in this new unknown world.

He was eager to serve his master, as a humble and loyal servant should be.

"I am going to need a location to perform the role of a 'Seer.' Where do you think is best suited in my immediate vicinity?" Klein asked Arrodes.

The Mirror of Arrodes blurred a little, before the image of a small cathedral appeared as Arrodes spoke, "Here would be the place to cause you the least amount of trouble for your goals, Great Master."

Klein nodded as he memorised the location shown by the mirror and decided to search for it at a later moment.

In the next second, Arrodes raised his own question according to the rules:

"Great Master, do you have any further instructions? This puny servant of yours would be willing to do anything within its power for you!"

Smiling a little at how loyal Arrodes was, the Fool replied to his servant, "Nothing for now Arrodes. I will be back."

"Your will is my will."

With the use of the internet, it didn't take long for Klein to find the location that he wanted to find.

It was a Cathedral of what seemed to be enthusiasts of fate and the future. Small places like this were apparently common in all parts of the world.

Even though powers corresponding to fate were rare, and seemed to instantly be recruited by the Legacy clans, a handful decided to branch out on their own.

And this place was a branch of such a place, run by someone who is known as Awakened Bailey.

This gave Klein flashbacks to the one divination he had joined back when he was a Sequence 9 Seer…

Well, it was time for him to act as 'Seer,' once more.

It did not even take long for Klein to register inside of this new 'organisation.' After paying the admission fees of 250 Credits, Klein deposited the first month's deposit of 50 Credits.

He was also produced with a new Card with his name, Mardock Sainz on it.

'I still have 5800 Credits…' Klein thought to himself.

Since Mardock Sainz had been living independently for a while, he was able to save up what seemed like a sizable chunk of money.

Klein soon made his way back into his apartment, deciding it was time to do a lot more adept research of this new world.

'So inside of this world, Saints seem to reign supreme. The ranking for humans starts from Dormant (Sleepers), Awakened, Ascendants (Masters) and Transcendence (Saints).

For the nightmare creatures, it goes from Dormant, Awakened, Fallen, Corrupted, Great, Cursed and Unholy.

Yet for nightmare creatures, there still are rankings for their soul cores which usually impacts their strength further.

The ranking of the soul cores are, Beast, Monster, Demon, Devil, Tyrant, Terror and then Titans.

So the strongest nightmare creatures theoretically are Unholy Titans.

So up to 7 ranks of strength…does that mean that I am limited up until Sequence 3, Scholar of Yore?

I still do not understand how strong an Unholy Titan might even be…

There still definitely seem to be other interesting things about this world…other than just the Great Clans and Legacy Clans, there is also the world government which controls the Waking world…'

Klein spent the rest of his night researching more about this unknown world he was inside of.

He needed to know substantial information about this world…if he wanted to become the 'Fool,' once more.
