Chapter 14: Serena Snape: Love of Magic - chapter 14
We talked for hours, Lucius at some point leaving to make his rounds as prefect. When we finally got to Hogwarts and Lucius returned, our group had already changed into our uniforms, it was amusing to see Narcissa scandalized when she saw my fishnet stockings that I wore with my uniform, Lucius' blush that earned him a slap from Narcissa was also amusing, but the funniest thing was that they weren't scandalous, or I didn't think they were, my 2024 sensibilities were completely different from those of 1976, more for the wizarding world that was more backward, but I shrugged it off, I couldn't care less at the moment, they were just fishnet stockings up to mid-thigh where my skirt started, the rest of my uniform is laid out, somewhat messily on purpose, like the loose tie, the shirt out of my skirt and a thick belt that was just decoration around my waist, I still had all my jewelry on top so they were extremely out of place, again, I didn't have the capacity to really care about it so I put on my school robes over it that I had just recently or nothing to hide my clothing when walking, I had decided to leave it unbuttoned so it was completely open in the front and the wind simply left my uniform visible.
"Everyone's looking at you," Narcissa murmured excitedly as we headed to the carriages, Lucius sneering at the group.
"Don't worry about them Cissy, they were too stupid to realize Serena's worth before, tell me dear, did you change your clothes? You look radiant." Lucius gave me a winning smile, I snorted amused.
"Smooth Malfoy, very Smooth" I repeated to myself with amusement, Narcissa let out another giggle as she climbed into the carriage, obviously with Lucius' help, she wouldn't let his upbringing not help her fiancée, in fact, he also held out his hand to help me up, I raised an eyebrow in his direction and he just smiled at me, I rolled my eyes but took his hand to climb in, once inside the carriage I let myself fall into the seat, Narcissa hadn't been lying the entire group of students had been looking at me with a variety of expressions, most of them confused as if they didn't know who I was, and I wouldn't blame them, if Lucius and Narcissa hadn't noticed I didn't expect the others to, hell, not even the marauders noticed and they had a strange fixation on old Serena, who speaking of the little group, after the initial surprise at my outfit they were throwing daggers at me with their eyes as if they wanted to kill me in the place that I clearly ignored without giving them a second look.
wait!
I stood stiffly in my seat as I opened my eyes widely, I had become a stereotypical anime protagonist! I literally stick out like a sore thumb with my attire, suppressing the urge to groan loudly, I knew I shouldn't have joined that forum where contractors were showing off their own appearances, the sheer amount of crazies with bandages on their arms, edgelords, heterochromatic eyes, eccentric and weird clothes that didn't match at all, and now I was one of those crazies.
The ride to the castle was calm and uneventful, my own musings being treated with a fresh cigarette helped enough that I came to the conclusion that it was too late to change anything now, the entire school had seen me and unless I could obscure everyone without them noticing I had no choice but to continue on and make it seem like my new found self loathing wasn't causing any problems, luckily no one approached, it seemed there were several who wanted to try but Lucius served as a perfect human shield repelling them all with barely a glance, so we made our way to the great hall and sat next to each other with Narcissa in the middle of our trio .
"Who are you?" I looked up and in front of me I saw Bellatrix Black staring at me with a frown.
"Bella!" Narcissa squealed in happiness, Bellatrix didn't take her eyes off me, she was aware that the entire group around us was paying attention, I rolled my eyes.
"Bellatrix," I drawled out the girl's name, "I didn't know bad eyesight ran in my family, your cousin didn't recognize me either, though... I couldn't expect much from a Gryffindor could I?" That earned me a raised eyebrow from Bellatrix.
"Don't compare me to that mangy dog," she snapped as she rolled her eyes, "you still haven't answered my question." Now she wanted to know how long it would take her to find out who she was.
"It's Serena!!" Narcissa squealed as she grabbed my arm, and now I'd never know, I sighed, Bellatrix's eyebrows shot up to their full height, and she wasn't the only one, the crowd around me also stared at me in disbelief, a couple even choked on air and started coughing.
"Snape?!" Bellatrix hissed in disbelief as she looked me up and down, I smirked at her.
"in the flesh" the Slytherin table fell completely silent momentarily before erupting into hubbub.
"What's with the fangs Snape? You decided not only to look like a vampire but to turn into one for the summer?" Rosier snorted mockingly, I rolled my eyes.
"How original Rosier, did you think of it yourself? Be careful, you might hurt yourself" I heard laughter from the table, even Bellatrix burst out laughing, Rosier was looking at me furiously.
"I heard you got a job at Knockturn, Snape, how many people did you have to sleep with to get those rings, what would the Mudblood Evans think if he saw you now? By the way, you're not friends anymore." I turned my head and looked at the announcer, I immediately recognized him, Rabastan Lestrange, a placid smile on his face.
"Ah, Rabastan, what a nice surprise!" I looked at him with feigned surprise, confusing the group. I smiled widely at him. "For a second I didn't recognize you. It's the first time you've spoken without your brother's cock in your mouth. I've never heard you speak before!"
"How dare you!" Lestrange stood up, fury all over his face, my smile never leaving my face as I glared at him, I could hear Bellatrix laughing at the chaos, I was about to answer when the door slammed open, McGonagall walking in followed by the first years "be careful Snape" she hissed before sitting down once more.
"Try not to hurt yourself Lestrange, your brother isn't here for you to go cry on his lap" I rolled my eyes.
"You-" I growled in hatred and ignored him as I looked over at the selection of first-timers, still, I swallowed and decanted tin and zinc to keep an eye on Lestrange, not trusting him not to attack me from behind and in public.
"Well done Serena" Narcissa laughed beside me, amusement written all over her face, I smiled back before we focused back on the sorting, a pang of pity arose as I saw the number of people waiting to be sorted into a house, they were almost double what I remembered from adult Severus' memories when he was a teacher, it was sad to see the amount of damage Voldemort had caused.
I shook off my thoughts as I returned to my attention, once the selection was over the banquet began, I immediately took advantage of the free food to store in my bendalloy mind while ignoring the strange comments and glances around me, including the first years, apparently my appearance was as striking as I feared, I just hoped that the teachers would recognize me.
Spoilers, they didn't.
