Chapter 12: Happy 18th Birthday°
I understand it now.
Mama did this.
Replaced the Astral space with a trance barrier. Trapping my consciousness in a scenario she had created.
Why?
Why would you do such a thing?
How could you be so cruel?
The phone clattered to the ground and I felt my body begin to run, I saw my home street once again. The house looked different, lively like it had been when I was little. Mama was seated in the living room, she looked so much better like she hadn't been sick at all, a small bento cake like the one I had back at Aunt's place in her hand.
"What are you doing over there? Come make a wish" she urged me with a smile, my vision blurred as tears began to seep out of my eyes. My hands raised to my view and I saw a lighter in mind as I approached her.
She began humming the happy birthday tune as I got closer.
No.
No.
I lighted the candle and her skin began to change. Her once blueish-purple skin began to glow and little blinking stars replaced her veins
"Dear Elora, my Elora. I wish all you all the good things this life has to offer. I can't stay with you forever and it saddens my heart that I never got to spend so much time like I always dreamed about with both you and your sister. I love you two very much. And do not blame your father for any of this, he loves you all. I know he does"
She leaned forward, her hair began floating as it paled from it's redish glow before brightening. She raised the cake to my lips
"Now it's your turn"
I wish you would get well and we could all be happy again. I wish you would stay. I wish you would make me food once again. Mama, please don't go. I'm no one without you! What will I do without you! Please!
I felt my body topple over and my vision crack.
When I opened my eyes again.
I was back in Aunt Dara's home. A lighter in my hand and the bento cake waiting for me to light it.
