Second Shot at Life

Chapter 14: New Ventures in Dreamland

Jay woke up in his dreamland, and as usual, he first checked the time and year. As he had guessed, it was the next year, and now he was in the 7th grade. With this fresh start, Jay decided to plan out his time in the dreamland meticulously. Everything was going smoothly with his investment plans, so he thought about taking it a step further.

Jay (thinking): "My investments are doing great. Why not try to patent some future technologies and maybe even start a company of my own?"

Jay's day began with a hearty breakfast. On his way to school, he pondered over the best options for patents and what kind of company he should set up. He knew the challenges he would face with the notoriously slow Indian bureaucracy. If he didn't bring every document and prepare everything in advance, he would be sent on countless goose chases.

Upon reaching school, Jay parked his bicycle in the stand and made his way to the classroom. The day went by quickly, and Jay's mind was abuzz with ideas about patents and business plans.

Jay (thinking): "I need to list down the most promising technologies that will emerge in the future. Things like smartphones, renewable energy solutions, or even social media platforms."

His thoughts were interrupted by one of his friends asking him to play cricket in the evening.

Aman: "Hey bro are you ready to play cricket after school today?"

Jay shook his head, smiling apologetically.

Jay: "Sorry bro, I'm really busy today. Maybe another time."

Aman frowned, looking a bit frustrated.

Aman: "Busy huh? You never used to be so busy. Come on, it's just a game. You've changed, bro. You're not being yourself."

Jay sighed, feeling the weight of his responsibilities.

Jay: "I know it seems that way, bro, but I really have a lot going on right now. It's important."

Aman: "Important? What's more important than having fun with your friends? You're always off doing your own thing now. What happened to you?"

Jay felt a twinge of guilt but knew he had to stay focused.

Jay: "I haven't changed, bro. I just have some goals I'm working towards. Trust me, it's worth it."

Aman shook his head, clearly disappointed and thinking what goals could he have that are keeping him busy.

Aman: "Whatever, bro see you tomorrow. "

There were a lot of thoughts swirling in Jay's mind. He needed to focus on his plans and make the most of his time in the dreamland.

That evening, instead of playing cricket, Jay started researching and planning his future ventures. He knew that if he wanted to patent technologies and start a company, he needed to be thorough and strategic.

Jay (thinking): "First, I need to list all the documents I'll need for the patents. Then, I have to map out a business plan for the company. This is going to be a lot of work, but it's worth it."

He spent hours poring over books and making notes. His dedication and determination were unwavering.

Suddenly, Jay's 6th Sense triggered while he was deep in thought. The room seemed to shift slightly, and he felt a wave of nausea wash over him. The feeling was like a short dream, disorienting and hard to keep focus.

Jay (groaning): "Ugh, what is this?"

System (teasing): "Ah, looks like your fancy 6th Sense is kicking in. What did your intuition tell you this time?"

Jay tried to focus, his mind racing with fragmented visions and insights.

Jay: "It's hard to describe. I feel like there are opportunities around, but it's so overwhelming."

The System chuckled, clearly amused by Jay's struggle.

System: "Well, you wanted an edge, didn't you? Just try to ride it out."

Jay took deep breaths, trying to regain his composure. Slowly, the sensation faded, and he was left with a clearer sense of direction.

Jay (thinking): "Okay, I need to prioritize patents on emerging technologies first. Then, I'll think about the company setup."

The System, sensing an opportunity to tease further, asked another probing question.

System: "So, Jay, how exactly do you plan to start a company when everyone will see you as a gullible kid? Got any magic tricks up your sleeve?"

Jay frowned, feeling a bit frustrated.

Jay: "I know it won't be easy. But I can be smart about it. Maybe I could use my mom's name for the patents and company. It would be more convincing."

The System chuckled.

System: "Using mommy's name, huh? Cute. But do you think she'll just go along with it? How are you going to convince her?"

Jay sighed, knowing that the System had a point. Convincing his parents would be tough.

Jay (thinking): "If I tell them the truth, that I'm from the future, maybe they'll understand and help me."

But he wasn't sure about revealing his secret yet. The System, as usual, kept teasing him.

System: "Oh, I'm sure your parents will love hearing that their son is a time traveler. Maybe they'll even get you a cape and tights."

Jay rolled his eyes, feeling the weight of the challenge.

Jay: "Thanks for the vote of confidence, System."

Despite the System's teasing, Jay felt a flicker of hope. He knew it would be difficult, but he was determined to find a way to make his plans work.

Jay (thinking): "I'll take it one step at a time. First, I'll gather all the necessary documents and then find the right moment to talk to my parents. If I can show them how serious I am and how much I've researched, they might just believe me."

However, Jay also knew that dealing with government offices meant bracing for corruption and inefficiency. He had to be fully prepared to handle everything that came his way. In those years, government employees were notoriously slow and often expected bribes to get their work done.

Jay (thinking): "I'll need to make sure I have all the documents perfectly in order. Maybe even prepare some 'extra incentives' to speed things up. It's not ideal, but I have to be realistic."

The System couldn't help but comment on Jay's strategy.

System: "So, Jay, planning to grease some palms to get your way? How very... enterprising of you."

Jay felt a twinge of frustration but knew the System was right.

Jay: "I don't like it, but I have to be practical. If I want to get these patents and start a company, I need to navigate the system as it is."

With a clear plan in mind and the determination to face the challenges ahead, Jay continued his research, feeling more resolved than ever.
