Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Clones???
"Maybe we should call the League," Kaldur said as they stood in an elevator. Instead of going up, Robin had decided to investigate further. He had hacked the computers at the Cadmus facility and discovered something called Project KR.
The boys contemplated whether they should call the League, but before they could make a decision, the elevator reached floor 52. They got into their stances, ready for whatever might be behind the doors—only to find nothing.
It was a cavernous space, not entirely empty. Equipment and strange machinery were scattered throughout. The team rushed in and soon reached a crossroads. They tried to decide which path to take, but the decision was made for them when a genomorph—more human-like than the imps they had encountered before—appeared.
The genomorph immediately attacked, hurling the large green tubes that surrounded them. The tubes exploded upon impact, forcing the team to run toward the only available path. Robin threw his birdarangs, but they stopped midair just in front of the genomorph, halted by an unseen force.
Kid Flash sped ahead, nearly slipping as he spotted a woman in a lab coat. Just behind her, he saw a thick metal door labeled Project KR. Kaldur and Robin caught up, realizing they had no other choice but to go through.
Guardian arrived just in time to see the door slam shut behind them. He tried to force it open, but it was sealed tight. Dr. Desmond wasn't far behind, finally catching up.
"They're still in there—with the weapon," the genomorph, known as Dubbilex, said.
"Useless," Desmond muttered in frustration.
Inside, Robin quickly disabled the security locks. As they stepped into the room, they were met with a shocking sight—two pods. But what caught their attention the most were the symbols emblazoned on the figures' chests.
Robin immediately recognized it—the atomic symbol of Superman.
"Robin, hack," Kaldur instructed, urgency in his voice.
Meanwhile, outside, Dr. Desmond's anger and frustration boiled over. "Get some G-Trolls down here now!" he barked at Guardian. But Guardian had already done all he could; opening the door would take time.
Dr. Desmond, however, had another idea. The team was trapped in the same room as the weapons, so why not use them?
The genomorphs, already attuned to his thoughts, activated the two clones in the pods. The first one immediately lunged at Kaldur, engaging him in combat. The second, however, remained still.
The boy in the second pod took a sharp breath. His voice came out in a whisper.
"Where… am I?"
His mind raced as he tried to process his surroundings. Just moments ago, he had buried his sister.
She had died after a brutal kidnapping. The things they had done to her—no person should have to endure that. She had barely managed to escape, found on the roadside bruised, broken, and barely clothed. Despite surviving, she lost her will to live. A few weeks later, she took her own life.
Solomon had always been intelligent beyond his years. His parents named him after the biblical king, believing he would be blessed with wisdom. But they had been unable to care for him and left him at an orphanage with only the tag Solomon.
His intelligence was not the kind that built machines or made scientific discoveries. No—he understood people. He saw the world for what it truly was.
And his life had been nothing but misfortune.
He could still feel the bullet in his chest, fired by one of the same men who had taken his sister. They had the audacity to shoot him at her grave, not even to his face. That thought alone fueled his rage. He did not hate everyone, but he hated those who made the world truly vile.
He closed his eyes—only to wake up here.
His mind processed everything at an astonishing speed, his yet-undiscovered Kryptonian brain working far beyond human limits. He looked up to see a boy in a white suit punching another boy in a yellow one with such force that the latter was sent flying, falling unconscious.
It jolted him awake. His eyes darted to his chest. He recognized the symbol.
He looked around, piecing everything together. His surroundings, the people—he came to one terrifying conclusion.
I'm in the DC Universe.
The realization hit him hard, but before he could process it, something else surged inside him. A flood of emotions—unprocessed grief, overwhelming confusion, and burning rage—ignited something deep within him.
A chaotic energy began leaking from his body, raw and untamed. The genomorphs had been trying to influence his mind since his conception, but they had never been able to break through. A scarlet barrier had always stood in their way.
Now, that energy erupted.
A massive telekinetic shockwave burst from Solomon, sending everyone flying.
Robin, Kaldur, and Superboy were thrown back. Robin slammed against the wall with a loud bang and collapsed, unconscious. Solomon, overwhelmed by the sudden awakening of his power, blacked out as well.
Superboy was unharmed, but Kaldur groaned, bruised from the force. Superboy, still under mind control, glanced at Subject ****—Solomon—who lay motionless. Deciding to ignore him for now, he turned his focus back to the fight.
Kaldur, regaining his composure, summoned a massive water-formed hammer with his hydrokinetic powers and struck Superboy, sending him flying. As he assessed the situation, he realized all of his teammates were unconscious—including the second clone.
That moment of distraction cost him.
Superboy recovered instantly, using his speed to close the gap. He appeared in front of Kaldur in an instant, landing an uppercut to his chin. Kaldur barely had time to react before he was sent crashing into the ceiling. He, too, blacked out.
With the battle won, Superboy turned to the massive steel door. Emotionlessly, he gripped the metal and tore it apart with sheer strength, bending it open.
Dr. Desmond stepped through, taking in the scene.
A sinister grin spread across his face.
His weapon had done exactly what he wanted .
