Chapter 10: Welcome to Valyria
One month passed again, while Mairon and Vysesa traveled with Regan on his dragon.
They were already on the Valyrian peninsula, tomorrow they would reach the Valyrian stronghold.
Vysesa was getting more and more excited.
She couldn't wait until she saw her mother again.
Mairon was sitting by the campfire that they started, there a deer was being roasted after being caught.
He didn't need sutanance but Regan and Vysesa did.
Even the dragon vernaron needed food to survive.
Unlike the great dragon's of middle earth.
They function more like their lesser counterparts, they too lack the ability to speak and need food to survive.
So Mairon sat down resting his weary mind.
Before they left qohor, he had known that the city was someone's domain.
It was hard to miss when you felt eyes on you all the time from all sides.
He still didn't know who it was, but he had his suspicions.
Especially the black goat.
But he would need more examples before he could make a definitive stance on the subject.
He had thought long and hard about it, and the most logical way of thinking is that the gods of the world function differently from his world.
Regan sat by the fire looking at Mairon, looking like he wanted to say something but not being able to.
"Just ask your question."
"Oh... Oke thank you sir."
"May I know what your story is sir? "
Mairon took a moment to awnser, thinking about how to awnser.
"My story you say?"
Sigh
"Well it's as good a time as any."
"I should explain about myself, if I want to be accepted by your pantheon of gods."
"Are they listening as well? We should be in their sphere of influence."
"Yes they are they got a message from qohor, from the black goat talking about a god walking among the mortals."
"Well they were interested because this is the first time this happened." "They sent avatars before but we're never able to walk among mortals themselves."
"Hmm I see, there is nothing to hide."
As Mairon was ready to share his story Vysesa acted like she was asleep.
Attentively listening to his story about her adoptive father.
Mairon looked right at Regan before speaking again.
"Have your gods heard about Eru lluvatar?"
Regan stayed silent before shaking his head, having heard a negative awnser from his gods.
"I figured as much." Said Mairon.
I come from a place created by the music if the Ainur.
Godly beings created by Eru lluvatar himself.
With the sole purpose of serving him, and creating music for him to hear.
We were separated by Maiar and Valar.
According to the kind of instrument we played.
The great and important instruments were given the honour of the 14 Valar, while the less important and supporting instruments were given the Maiar.
Until the greatest of Valar went against the music of the most high.
Creating disorder and chaos.
To show the error of his ways Eru lluvatar created a world out of our music.
Showing what the corruption and chaos did to our world.
We were allowed to descend upon Arda, to guide the beings born of the land and correct the music.
But Morgoth refused to repent of his sins, instead basking in the pain and chaos he sowed.
Corrupting creation further and further until the other Valar under the lead of Manwë fought and defeated Morgoth, shackling him in the void beyond reality.
I myself was one of the greatest craftsman among the Maiar, supplying weapons for the Valar and Maiar fighting against the creatures of the dark.
But my greatest arts are not in creating weapons but magic jewellery.
But because of my talents, I was killed shortly after the war.
My location was found by ungoliant a abomination of the abyss.
At my last moments I closed my eyes, appearing magicly in this world.
Finishing his short and compressed story, Mairon hoped they would believe it.
While they could say nothing to disprove it, he also had nothing to proof his story was true.
So he waited for a awnser.
Regan was silent seemingly listening to the gods.
Until suddenly the dark night was illuminated by 14 incarnations of light.
Both man and woman stood among them.
The most powerful being on this world at this moment.
Mairon could feel that among them only one was a Valar while the rest were Maiar of all kinds.
Most where bigger than humans while one was a straight out black dragon.
Mairon stood silent in the night while Vysesa hid behind him.
While she may get her power from Mairon, she was still far from standing up against beings as strong as Maiar.
The ground cracked, and a small portion of land was transported to their Devine realm.
There Mairon looked upon the 14 gods seated upon their thrones.
But Mairon could feel something strange.
They didn't feel like gods they only held such power.
They were like extremely strong nature spirits.
They held a long lifespan, and great power. But they were not immortal.
He could feel it, the only thing keeping these so called gods alive even after they passed their natural lifespan was the power of faith feeding them life force.
But with time, they needed more and more to keep away decay and death.
Mairon kept his composure but inside he started laughing.
'I can use this to my favor'
"Foreign god why have you come to our seat of power?"
The god in the middle of the circle asked.
"I have come here to find a new home."
Silence fell among the spirits a air of uncertainty fell among them.
They expect a lot but not this.
"I see, but if we extend our hospitality to you, and allow you to live among us what can you give in return?"
"Ah I think you got something wrong there, I wish to life among the mortals."
"Caring for my daughter and learning their crafts."
" Because it seems you misunderstood me."
" I don't need a seed among you we foreign gods don't need the power of faith or any power source really."
"We are our own power source."
"But I can give you something in return for me staying in Valyria."
"I can grand you immortality, in return I want the Dracon family to be mine from now on."
Mairon gave them a warm and reassuring smile.
But inside he was having a great time.
He would fish all these gullible gods.
They were mere children compared to his age and experience.
Including their chief god the spirit on par with the Valar.
They were only 7000 years old while the chief god was 12000 years old.
But what was that compared to 50000 years of experience, scheming and suffering.
So Mairon was waiting for them to bite his bait.
And they took it
After discussing among themselves for some time the chief god spoke again.
"Your name was Mairon correct? You may call me Arrax god of law order justice governance and strength."
"You said you could grand immortality?"
"How would that work and how many times could you grand this."
'got them'
With a smile plasterd upon his face Mairon patted Vysesa's head, who still stood behind him for safety.
Regan was in a corner with his head on the ground.
Mairon stepped foreward giving a feeling of closeness.
His eyes narrowed, looking at their obscured faces.
"I had told you about my craftsmanship among my old pantheon of gods."
"Well I perfected it to a degree where I can give my works property's"
"Including immortality and the boosting of power."
"And in what form would these works be than" asked Arrax.
"In the form of rings."
"So you claim your crafts superior to mine?"
A different voice called.
"Vermithor it is not your place to talk here."
Said Arrax
"Yes it is, crafmanship is my domain and I want a say in it."
" Well I never claimed my craftsmanship was superior."
" But I am a different lifeform in comparison to you."
"Making me able to give it different properties in comparison."
"But it would be a honour to work together with a crafts god such as yourself."
"I..I see than there is nothing to disagree."
"Good, than welcome to Valyria Mairon."
"Is there something you would need to create these rings?"
"Actually yes, I need precious minerals dragons a Vulcano and time."
"Vermithor if you would work together on this, could you work together in your Vulcano?"
"Sure I can't wait to see and learn his way of crafting."
"If he is as impressive as he said we can learn a lot of each other."
"Hahaha good than it is a deal, I get the Dracon family including its dragon and family members. And all of you get your immortality."
Mairon said but his eyes turned into flames.
Burning with glee and greed.
Suddenly a contract was being written up in the air.
"Alright let's sign here"
"Um... Alright" Arrax said uncertainly.
Right after he sent down his signature as did the others.
"Hahaha good with this the contract is valid."
Right after the contract bust into flames.
Disappearing fight after.
"What are these flames?" Arrax asked with a hint of fear.
Normally nothing could do something he didn't agree with in his Devine kingdom.
But these flames ignored all his defences and safeproofs.
"Oh don't worry about that."
" They just ensure we keep our promise."
"If one of use goes against the contract our soul will be dragged into the Abyss by these flames."
The gods of the Valyrian freehold suddenly felt they were playing with forces way above their station.
"Dammit."
