Chapter 7: Chapter 6 - Admission
Exasperatedand exhausted, Yuta went to his bedroom to sleep for nearly four hours before waking up and going downstairs to the kitchen for some snacks.
"It was a jiffy day." After retiring, he turned on the television to kill time and sighed as he picked up a piece of cake and some milk juice from the kitchen refrigerator..
After a while of staring at the television program, his mother returned home with some drinks and supper ingredients.
"So, how was it?"
"What's what mom?"
"The entrance exam."
"Oh, it was great, but also strenuous as it is."
"And when will the accession outcome be fortified?"
"Next week, I will receive a notification via mail about the sequel. As I whisked the raw eggs in a bowl, I muttered that. "Is this enough, Mom?" I said.
"Yes it is. So go clean your hands and wait for your dinner. Okay?" I exited the kitchen and went to my bedroom upstairs and barred the door. I layed down on my bed with legs crossed and arms folded together.
I closed my eyes and began thinking back on my eccentricities when I was startled by the unexpected call on my phone. "Fuck it! I'm captivated, so who's calling at this hour? I picked up the ringing phone on my table and muttered something angry. I sighed and answered after taking a look at the caller ID.
"Yo! What's up?" I said to the other end of the phone with a calm and positive tone.
"I'm good and you?" Mei, on the other hand, said to me,
"I'm a little bit stressed out, due to the entrance exam today."
"How was it? Was it a written test or a quirk test?"
"A written test and I got drained by it. However, were you able to meet your uncle in America?"
"Sure, I did. My middle school entrance exam is on Tuesday next week and I'm excited."
"Aww, lucky you. Goodluck on your exam and I'll keep in touch with you. Okay." I said and cut off the call. I went back to my place and regained my focus. 'I can se–.' "Dinner is ready." I was interrupted by my mom's voice and went downstairs for my dinner.
"Thanks for the meal." I said my usual thanks and walked back to my room and slumped off.
[Next day]
*Cough* "Damn it! I can't believe that my fever started yesterday. *Cough* I need to prepare myself for this minor fever." I mumbled in a slack voice. I was able to pull myself out of bed and hastily take a wash.
*Cough* "Mom Isn't breakfast ready yet?" *Coughs*
"It is. Uhm, are you okay?"
"No. I've been suffering from exam fever and sleep deprivation after getting back from the examination."
"All right, eat up and let's go see the closest doctor." Mom said. She took me to the doctor after driving a few miles, where I was given some medication and given time to recover.
Yuta got out of bed and opened his eyes, looking around the brightly lit room. "I think I'm all right now."
After giving it some thought, he walked out of the room. He waltzed up to his mother when he saw her on the phone while he was walking through the lengthy hallway. "Mom, I feel better now. May we go?" He said.
"All right, let's head home and relax." His mother also said.
[The next week]
'It appears that I have not yet received any correspondence regarding my acceptance. I'll return to my training.' He thought to himself since Mei had gone to study her middle school abroad under her uncle's care, he didn't think much about it and started training alone.
"I think I'm getting used to this." He grinned and started creating a clone of himself in his head, but what he saw was completely different. As he attempted again, he produced a formless sand that instantly flared up.
This time, he started shapeshifting each of the rectangular forms he had made into a human part. He started by transforming a single rectangular shape into a human leg and then focused intently on that one result, honing it to perfection after a few minutes of continuous meditation.
After wiping the sweats from his brow with his cloth, he went on to the next. Retentively, he embodied the same method and achieved the same result as with the last one. 'The legs are now complete; on to the next one.' After wiping away the sweat once more, he chose to create the arms rather than the legs because they are much simpler.
In order to create well-made fingers, he started recoiling a long pile of straight sand after modifying a few sandy shapes together. He then used sand to create a human with both limbs and legs, reassembling everything in a prefecture that was so near to a sand clone.
"I'll finish it with a little more push." He said, solidifying his human flesh with sand as he moved forward to defend himself. "I'll refer to this sand armament." By applying a thick layer of sand to his right hand, he created a sand weapon that resembled a monster's arm with long, sandy claws fastened to the armor. He kept his concentration so he wouldn't misjudge his progress when the sand started to solidify his human skin…
Taking off both his armor in his arms, he went downstairs. "I'm going to be out for a few minutes, Mom." He left the house and ran all the way to the nearest woodland near his home.
"Let's now examine these claws' potential." He covered both of his arms with sand armor that had jagged-looking claws. He moved to the next tree and tried to use his solid-clawed fist to bring down the massive tree, which fell into five clawed pieces.
'Wow! I had no idea it would be so sharp to chop down such a large tree. I have to use caution to prevent hurting someone with this.' He whispered to himself, clenching his fists in joy. "That's sufficient for today; let's go home." When he got home, he went to the living room to watch the news with his mother.
[Next week wednesday]
*Phone ringing*
"Yo, Mei! How was your entrance exam?"
"It was really simple. I headed home after finishing before everyone else in the examination hall." Mei spoke in a boastful manner.
"That's so you. Always being the top of the class for all semester, finding out you weren't gonna chicken out like a lost child because there aren't any questions out there that's gonna faze some pretty and brilliant girl like you."
"Hehehe, yeah that's right."
"So how far have you been training with your quirk?"
"Yeah, I've been leveling up ever since I came to america and my uncle got me a quirk adviser who is nurturing me everyday. How have you been coping with yours?"
"Same as always. Still leveling up alone with no consultant but yet to decide if I'll get an adviser soon before entering high school."
"Oh really!? That's great and you've been at it, all these while without no one counseling you on your quirk. I'll give you a reward for that. Yuta."
"Thanks Mei!." I ended the call and layed back on the couch. 'Yosh, I'm not gonna lose to ya, Mei! Can't wait to see you soon and how far you've evolved your quirk.'
*Phone rings*
"Hmm?" Yuta saw a fresh brochure and picked up his phone again. He discovered it was a letter from Highquest Middle School when he opened the notification. Sweat began trickling down his brow, and he swallowed. "It's time to find out if I'll be accepted or not."
When Yuta opened the mail and realized that he had been accepted to Highquest Middle School, he swallowed once more and gathered his bravery.
"I made it!" He exclaimed in exultation as he told his Mom the good news and she was delighted to hear about it and felicitated him on his hard work.
