Chapter 120: Cat, Ape, Leopard, Bird
"Summoning Jutsu: Monkey King Enma!"
With a low chant, a towering figure appeared before everyone.
Adorned with a Konoha forehead protector, long flowing white hair, a muscular and commanding frame, and a thick, agile tail swaying slightly, the arrival of Monkey King Enma set alarm bells ringing in Yugito Nii's heart.
This summoning beast was legendary across the ninja world. Once, it had accompanied Hiruzen Sarutobi in carving out his title as the "Ninja Hero."
One could say half of Hiruzen Sarutobi's renown was thanks to this very creature.
"Sakura, looks like we've got trouble again," said Enma, arms crossed, his gaze swiftly scanning the surroundings.
Kumo ninjas, Konoha brats…
"Yes, Lord Enma," replied Sakura.
"The opponent is the Two-Tails' Jinchūriki."
Sakura slowly stood up from the rubble, her gaze calm as she looked at Yugito Nii, who stood on the second floor, looking down at her from above.
This fight needed to end swiftly.
Even if the enemy assumed they had the upper hand and claimed Konoha's insider had defected, it all seemed too coincidental.
Konoha had barely concluded an internal meeting, and the enemy immediately launched an ambush on the so-called logistics base.
Anyone would suspect foul play in such a scenario.
"The Two-Tails' Jinchūriki, huh," muttered Enma with a wry grin. "Interesting."
Ever since Hiruzen Sarutobi had become Hokage, Enma hadn't set foot on a battlefield for a long time. Only recently, he'd been summoned twice to fight against Orochimaru.
Whether or not they could win, both Sakura and Enma shared the same unshaken confidence.
The Two-Tails?
What's that supposed to be?
"Heh, perceptive, aren't you?" Yugito said, unfazed by her identity being revealed.
She had just used Mouse Hairball, a technique distinctive enough to confirm her identity.
"But do you really think a little girl and a dead monkey can defeat me?"
"Naïve!"
Though her words were dismissive, Yugito was already crouched, blue-black chakra roaring around her like flames. Behind her, two chakra tails swayed gently.
"Looks like she's underestimating us, Sakura," Enma said, baring sharp canine teeth in a fierce grin, resembling a beast on the brink of a rampage.
"Yeah, it seems so," Sakura replied calmly, extending her hand toward Enma.
A jet-black staff with golden ends materialized in her palm. Her emerald-green eyes gleamed with the unique ferocity of youth.
With a light swing of the staff, it emitted a metallic hum that reverberated through the air.
"Defeat me?"
"You're five centuries too early!"
"Bring out the Eight-Tails!"
With a resolute shout, the ground beneath Sakura's feet shattered, a thunderous rumble echoing as she charged toward the chakra-clad Yugito like a humanoid beast.
Each step she took left the earth beneath her splintered and broken, as if an earthquake had struck.
"Roar~~!"
The partially transformed Yugito let out a guttural roar, rushing head-on to meet the charging girl.
"Ah, looks like those two ladies are already going at it," Darui remarked lazily, blocking the Uchiha boy's attacks with his oversized blade.
"Honestly, I'm not a fan of fighting. Why don't we sit down, have some tea, and watch the girls fight?"
His nonchalant words were accompanied by a sharp counterattack, forcing Sasuke back.
"Annoying," Sasuke said coldly, his expression icy as he stared at the man before him.
He could tell this opponent wasn't using his full strength. Even so, breaking through his defenses felt nearly impossible.
Is this the strength of a jonin from the Five Great Shinobi Nations?
How is Kakashi so weak in comparison?
Without using Chidori, Sasuke knew his limited chakra would only allow two uses. Even with Sakura's special soldier pills, he could barely manage two more.
But…
The opponent wasn't easy to land a hit on!
If that's the case…
Sasuke's Sharingan flared to life, its crimson glow intensifying as the two tomoe spun rapidly.
"Hm? Sharingan?" Darui's expression shifted slightly.
"Not good!"
He instinctively looked into Sasuke's eyes and immediately felt something was off.
Now!
Sharingan: Binding Illusion!
Without needing hand seals, the genjutsu activated in the instant their eyes met.
Poof!
Darui vanished, replaced by a wooden log.
A substitution?!
When?!
Sasuke was shocked.
It was well-known that substitution jutsu required a significant gap in strength to be effectively executed.
If the opponent's strength was on par or slightly weaker, using substitution was as risky as walking on eggshells—one misstep could cost them the fight.
But Darui had managed to use it mid-battle, as if slapping Sasuke twice and spitting in his face.
Not damaging, but utterly humiliating!
"Ah, so close! Almost slipped up there," Darui's relaxed voice came from behind.
Sasuke turned sharply, glaring at the man who, despite being behind him, didn't seize the chance to attack. His expression grew dark.
"Not taking the opportunity to finish me will be your biggest mistake," Sasuke said icily, his blade sparking with blue-white electricity.
"Lightning Style, huh?" Darui said lazily, casually picking his nose with his pinky finger. "I'm not too good with that."
Sasuke didn't waste another word. Surging forward with unprecedented speed, he aimed straight for Darui.
Darui's black-and-white eyes tracked Sasuke's movements as his hands formed seals with lightning speed.
Just as Sasuke closed in—
"Storm Release: Black Panther!"
Storm Release, a combination of Water and Lightning styles, was a unique kekkei genkai. It fused lightning's destructive force with water's flexibility, growing stronger with increased chakra input.
A black-and-white, lightning-infused panther materialized before Sasuke, roaring as it lunged at him.
"What?!"
Sasuke's pupils constricted as his blade surged with electric light.
Instinctively, he channeled Chidori into his blade, clashing with the lightning panther.
The panther's roars and the crackling of Chidori echoed across the battlefield.
"See? I told you I'm not great with Lightning Style," Darui said nonchalantly, watching Sasuke barely hold his ground.
