Sakura Haruno is Usefull

Chapter 118: Yūgito's Trap

Spreading the mission scroll flat on the ground, Sakura pointed to the marked position of the Kumo logistics outpost and began:

"We're not far from here now."

"At our current pace, we should be able to arrive before dawn," she continued.

Sasuke studied the route on the map and commented in a low voice:

"But that's assuming we go full speed."

It was already a grueling journey, trudging through snowstorms. Even if they reached the destination, they would have no strength left to fight.

Sakura nodded in agreement, then retrieved a small scroll from her tool pouch. With a soft "Release," a small basket appeared before everyone.

Seeing the familiar bamboo basket, Sasuke's lips twitched slightly.

"These are my special energy pills. The taste is... hard to describe, but their effect is ten times that of regular pills," Sakura explained matter-of-factly.

"Believe me, Sasuke knows this better than anyone."

"There are 24 pills in total, six per person."

She distributed the pills among the group, then nonchalantly popped one into her mouth, despite its size being comparable to a baby's fist. Two bites, and it was gone.

"Take one before we depart, rest for ten minutes near the target, and take another. Save the remaining four for emergencies," she instructed.

"But if your chakra drops below a third, you must take one to avoid running out of chakra at a critical moment."

As Sakura demonstrated, Kiba grabbed a pill and brought it to his nose for a sniff.

"Ughhh—"

With his keen sense of smell, Kiba nearly fainted on the spot.

Under the watchful gazes of the others, Kiba swallowed hard, then, with a determined look, shoved the pill into his mouth.

In that moment, Kiba felt as if lightning had struck the top of his head. His vision blurred, and he nearly rolled his eyes back.

Sakura quickly pressed her glowing green palm against Kiba's head, preventing him from passing out.

"Not until you finish the pill," she said firmly.

Unexpectedly, Shino showed no reaction.

Sasuke had braced himself for the taste, but Shino calmly ate the pill as though it were a harmless rice dumpling.

"I've consumed worse. As members of the Aburame clan, we nourish our insects with our own bodies, so..."

"Enough!" Sakura cut him off hastily, uninterested in hearing about the Aburame clan's peculiar practices.

"Alright, everyone, this is it."

The pink-haired girl donned her white cloak and goggles to shield herself from the snow, pulling up her hood to conceal her striking hair.

"Let's move. Once we're done with this mission, I'll treat everyone to barbecue!"

Kiba, having just swallowed the pill with great effort, brightened at the mention of barbecue.

"Alright! I'll hold you to that, Sakura!"

"Woof!" Akamaru barked enthusiastically from Kiba's arms, sharing his master's excitement.

"Move out!"

To be honest, Sakura couldn't shake an uneasy feeling about this mission.

But she couldn't refuse or argue against it. She had no choice but to push forward and hope her instincts were wrong.

The icy wind and swirling snowflakes scraped against their skin like knives. Whatever novelty the Land of Frost's snowfall once held had long since faded. Now, Sakura found the snow utterly detestable.

She glanced back at her three companions following closely behind and quickened her pace. Time was of the essence—they needed to use the patrol unit's disappearance to complete their mission.

As they pushed on, the Kumo patrols—both overt and covert—became increasingly frequent.

Snowstorms couldn't stop shinobi. Unless it was a full-blown natural disaster, shinobi would adapt and continue.

However, the growing number of sentries slowed their progress to a crawl. At one point, it took them an entire hour to cover just three kilometers.

Even so, they were finally close enough to see their destination with the naked eye.

Sakura signaled for the group to take cover and rest for 15 minutes, using the time to check their equipment.

This mission, Sakura thought, was the toughest she had faced in her ninja career.

The dense network of patrols and sentries confirmed one thing: their target was indeed critical.

Time flew by, and after exchanging nods, the team began to approach the outpost cautiously.

Sakura stared at the massive shadow looming behind the Kumo logistics base—a mountain, the only one in the Land of Frost.

In the dark, the snow-covered mountain looked like a slumbering beast, watching over the land.

Her heart sank. Kumo had intentionally built their outpost at the base of the mountain.

An avalanche...

If someone attacked the outpost, Kumo could trigger an avalanche, burying the base and its attackers under tons of snow.

It was a cruel yet effective strategy to buy time for reinforcements. Sakura was certain Kumo had a squad stationed at the mountaintop, ready to act.

But there was no turning back now.

Sakura took a deep breath and led the group in searching for a way into the outpost.

Unlike Konoha's well-fortified logistics bases, Kumo's base was built primarily of wood, making it appear fragile.

This only confirmed Sakura's suspicions. If Kumo was willing to destroy the base in an avalanche, they wouldn't waste resources on making it sturdier.

Hidden in the snow, Sakura instructed Shino to send his insects in for reconnaissance.

A small black beetle slipped through a crack in the base, and the group waited in tense silence.

Minutes passed before the beetle returned to Shino's palm.

"This is definitely Kumo's logistics base," Shino reported simply.

Sakura's spirits lifted. So she had been overthinking things.

"Let's move!"

At her command, the team disappeared into the shadows, infiltrating the base from different angles.

Sakura vaulted over the wall in one fluid motion, landing silently—

Only to freeze when she saw who stood before her.

"Well, well," said a tall, blonde woman with a sly smile.

"I was hoping to catch a big fish. Thought the famous Copy Ninja might show up, but... a disciple of the Hokage will do just fine."

Her gaze fixed on Sakura, her smile widening.

It was her—Nii Yugito, the jinchūriki of the Two-Tails.
