Run!
That was the only thought that crossed Zhao Mingwei’s mind.
As the JC Kings’ team coach had put it: he was an ordinary human in the real world, a youth web-addict.
His only option against those monsters was to run.
In fact, he was doing just that—panic was spreading within him while he strode off, following the fleeing crowd.
That was when he faintly heard a cry.
Zhao Mingwei turned to find a woman falling amongst the shoving crowd.
Be that as it may, the monsters behind them was very close—it was an assured death if he ran back now.
Someone would definitely help her… a policeman or a firefighter.
That was what Zhao Mingwei thought. He should not try to show off as an ordinary human.
Even so… that girl was a fan of JC Kings! He could see the Unfaltering Crown—the team’s logo on her shirt.
After all, the Food Street of River Town was two stops away from the JC Kings’ team base, which was why many of their fans would come to try their luck at Food Street, and see if they could meet their idols.
Damn it!
Zhao Mingwei paused instantly, stilling his shaking legs and dashed towards the girl on the ground.
He knew that it was the stupidest decision in his life—even stupider than when he joined JC Kings!
“Get up.”
He ran to the girl, reach out with his hand to help her up.
However, just when she was about to rise and flee, the sound of glass shattering rang beside their ears.
A huge orc that was three meters tall smashed its wooden hammer on a building beside it, with debris and glass falling over Zhao Mingwei’s head.
It’s over!
Zhao Mingwei closed his eyes. The debris did not reach him, but struck the girl’s feet instead.
“Are you alright?” Zhao Mingwei grabbed the edges of a large piece of concrete, trying to lift it.
However, he was too weak—it did not budge even though his palm bled.
Damn it, damn it, damn it! If he had half… no, just a tenth of the strength of his game character, he would definitely have moved that damn debris!
But he didn’t.
“Just leave me!” The girl yelled at Zhao Mingwei, knowing that she would not survive.
Zhao Mingwei looked up then to find that they were surrounded by a pack of orcs, well aware that his situation was dire.
But in that moment, a car exploded beside them.
The tremendous impact broke the orcs’ formation, but it also slammed Zhao Mingwei heavily into a wall.
He sat on the ground, his consciousness blurring even though the panicking voices of the nearby crowd was unusually clear.
He was so powerless in the real world.
Hold on.
Augmented reality game… game… Sacred Souls…
Could this be the Abyssal Hunt?
Zhao Mingwei looked up to find that the orcs were approaching the girl, but reached for his mobile phone with his scar-laden right hand.
It’s lit!
The button for the Soulfall was lit on the interface of his phone!
Could it be?
Zhao Mingwei had no effort to spare to think about such things, because one of the orcs had raised its hammer, swinging it down at the girl.
In that fatal moment, he clicked on the Soulfall button.
He felt his consciousness instantly drained away… just like whenever he logged in to Sacred Souls.
When he opened his eyes again, he felt a familiar power surroundings his body.
Aura!
“Puny human.” An orc spoke right beside him.
He looked up at the monster and swung his fist at it, sending it flying three meters away.
“Smi-Smiley?” The girl mumbled in disbelief—the Aura Bender’s figure starkly resembled that man.
However, that man’s figure was only supposed to appear in game.
“You’re tired. Rest.”
Zhao Mingwei picked up the debris pinning her easily, before picking her up to put her someplace safe.
Then, he quickly returned to the location of the abyssal rift.
Zhao Mingwei looked at his hand. The Aurabeast tattoo on his arm was clearly visible—even his strong form and muscles looked just like his game character in Sacred Souls.
He had summoned it into the real world.
The other orcs bellowed as they encircled Zhao Mingwei, who in turn looked at them fearlessly.
“This is the Abyssal Hunt event?” Zhao Mingwei’s half-closed his left fist, just as his eyes slowly opened with bolts flickering over his pupils. “Are you ready to become EXP and item drops?”
“You die!”
The orcs swarmed towards him, roaring—but a roar that was even louder and could break anyone’s eardrums burst away from Zhao Mingwei’s body, alongside more thunderbolts and powerful aura.
The aura blew every incoming orc towards the walls around them.
Zhao Mingwei’s skin turned as white as light right then. Bolts flashed continuously in his pupils as the silhouette of a tiger-dragon appeared behind him. It then spread itself through the air, shrieking as thunder shattered the weapons of the orcs.
Aurabeast Roar!
The silhouette of the tiger-dragon did not vanish after the roar. It hung behind Zhao Mingwei, baring its razor-sharp teeth and stared at the orcs ferociously.
Intimidated, the orcs did not even dare to take a step forward… until another orc that stood almost three meters tall swung its hammer as it charged towards Zhao Mingwei.
The ground trembled at the orc’s every step.
Meanwhile, dark blue aura was being gathered in Zhao Mingwei’s right hand. In the second that so much power had gathered in his right hand that it could no longer be controlled, he promptly pushed with his right hand.
Aura Cannon!
The aura assumed the form of a tiger-dragon as it rushed towards that enormous orc, devastatingly exploding over its chest as bolts weaved around its body… the creature also lost its balance then and fell backwards.
The orc smashed into a car before landing heavily on the ground. Its ribcage and flesh were protruding from its chest, and its insides were a scorched blackness.
[-234]
Zhao Mingwei saw the system prompt then.
But Sacred Souls did not have such gore effects for it monsters…
