RWBY : Remnant Hulk

Chapter 5: The History

The walk up the gentle hill was peaceful, the scent of fresh grass and flowers filling the air. The afternoon sun bathed the garden in a golden glow, making the already breathtaking scenery feel almost dreamlike. Bruce Banner walked ahead of them, his pace slow but steady, his posture relaxed yet unwavering. The group followed closely behind, their eyes wandering over the vast expanse of the garden. From this height, they could see beyond the foliage, and in the far distance, the grand structure of Beacon Academy loomed over the horizon.

"I never realized something like this was so close to Beacon," Weiss murmured, taking in the scenery.

"Yeah, this place is huge!" Ruby exclaimed. "It's like something out of a fairy tale!"

"I'll admit," Blake said, her amber eyes scanning the area, "it's impressive how well-maintained everything is. This must take an incredible amount of work."

"It does," Glynda responded. "My teacher has always had a fondness for peaceful places. Gardening is one of the few things he truly enjoys."

"Speaking of your teacher," Yang cut in, glancing at Bruce, "so this is his house, huh?"

Atop the hill stood an old wooden house, modest in design yet exuding a sense of warmth and history. The aged wooden panels showed signs of years exposed to the elements, but the structure itself stood strong. The house had a small porch, complete with a single wooden rocking chair and a neatly stacked pile of firewood beside the entrance.

Glynda looked at the house thoughtfully. "I've never been here before."

Bruce chuckled as he reached the door. "It's nothing fancy, just a quiet place for an old man to rest his bones." He pushed the door open and gestured for them to enter. "Come in. Did you bring the supplies?"

Ruby quickly handed over the supply box. Bruce took it with a nod of appreciation and led them inside. "Thank you. Now, make yourselves comfortable."

The group stepped inside, instantly greeted by the cozy warmth of the home. The air carried the scent of aged wood and dried herbs. The interior was simple, with a fireplace, a few wooden chairs, and shelves filled with books, trinkets, and what appeared to be old photographs. The walls had a rustic charm, but what truly caught their attention was the **living room**.

A massive window dominated one side of the room, offering a stunning view of the garden below. The sunlight streaming through the glass bathed the space in a soft golden hue. The tranquility of the scene was mesmerizing, but something else in the room quickly grabbed their attention.

"Uh, guys?" Yang said, her voice carrying an edge of curiosity. "Are you seeing this?"

Plastered across one side of the wall were **centuries-old newspapers**, framed behind glass. The articles varied in size, but they all shared a common subject: **The Hulk**.

**"The Hulk Brings Terror!!"**

**"The Hulk Destroys Mistral Military!"**

**"Is The Hulk Man or Monster?"**

Each headline was more dramatic than the last, and all of them were preserved with painstaking care.

Ruby's eyes widened. "This… this is real?"

Blake leaned in closer, studying the articles. "These newspapers are ancient," she noted. "Some of them must be centuries old. This isn't just some urban legend… The Hulk really existed."

On a nearby shelf, they spotted something even more surprising—**a stack of old VHS tapes and an ancient VHS player**. Some of the tapes had labels scrawled in faded ink: **"Radio News Report: Hulk Incident"**.

"Wow, talk about old school," Yang muttered. "These must be actual recordings from back then."

Before they could investigate further, Bruce entered the room carrying a tray with **steaming cups of tea and a plate of candies**.

"I see you found my collection," he said, setting the tray down on a low table.

Ruby wasted no time. "Dr. Banner, are these real? Like, for real real?!"

Bruce let out a soft chuckle, sitting down in his chair. "Yes, they are real. Every article, every tape. They document events from long ago."

"But how do you have all this?" Weiss asked, skeptical but clearly intrigued.

Bruce took a slow sip of his tea before answering. "I spent many years gathering these. Stories tend to fade over time, especially when people fear what they do not understand. I wanted to make sure the truth was preserved."

Ruby sat forward, eyes practically sparkling. "Then you must know a lot about The Hulk!"

Bruce nodded, his expression unreadable. "I know enough."

"Was he really that scary?" Blake asked.

Bruce was silent for a moment before responding, "To some, yes. To others, he was something else entirely."

The cryptic answer left the group pondering, but before they could press further, Ruby reached into her bag and pulled out a **worn-out book**.

"I actually have something cool to show you!" she said excitedly. "It's an old novel about The Hulk! I've been carrying it around for years."

Bruce's eyes fell on the book, and for the first time, a look of **familiarity and nostalgia** crossed his face. He took a deep breath before giving Ruby a knowing smile.

"Ah, that book," he mused. "I know the author."

The room fell silent.

Ruby blinked. "Wait, you **know** the author?!"

Bruce simply nodded, taking another sip of his tea. "Yes. A very interesting person, indeed. He was a young Faunus boy once saved by a scientist long ago."

Ruby gasped, realization dawning upon her. "So that means… The Hulk exists because of that scientist saving him?!"

Bruce smiled but remained silent, letting the pieces fall into place in their minds.

Yang leaned back, crossing her arms. "Well, aren't you a vault of secrets."

Bruce chuckled softly. "Perhaps. But sometimes, stories are best told over time."

Before she could say anything, Bruce reached out and gently patted Glynda's head, much to her shock and embarrassment. Her face turned red as she quickly swatted his hand away.

"S-Stop that!" she stammered.

Bruce simply chuckled, adjusting his **round glasses**. "Some things never change."
