RWBY: Oscar the gamer

Chapter 64: Upgrading Skill

Oscar was in the sed of his farm, as he was looking at the tracker, trust be told he didn't know what he would do during this one week, sure he has his daily task, and he completed them already, and he can practice with his swords, but right now he was going to practice his Artificers class more and even see if he unlocked new skill, right now he wanted too fouces on the two skill he had already unlocked for the skill

[Basic Enchanting (Lv. 3) – Allows basic enchantment of items.

Weapon Fusion (Lv. 3) – Fuses two weapons into a hybrid (Low Success Rate)]

Will technically just one [Weapon Fusion was of the question for now that is. He wonders what he can improve, what ever it was he was sure he was gonna get a lot of ding! Saying he got [a +1 to intelligent] it always works like this

Oscar took a deep breath, staring at the old tools and weapons scattered in front of him. If he wanted to get stronger, he couldn't just rely on his combat skills—his Artificer class had a lot of potential, and now was the best time to push its limits.

He decided to start with [Basic Enchanting]. He picked up a simple hunting knife and focused his Aura into it, activating the skill. The blade shimmered slightly, but nothing major happened.

Ding!

[Enchanting Attempt Failed – No Effect]

Oscar sighed. Of course, it wouldn't be that easy. He had to be more precise. Pouring his Aura slowly, he tried again, this time concentrating on fire properties. The knife heated up slightly, glowing a faint red.

Ding!

[Fire Enchant (Minor) Applied – Blade retains heat longer]

Oscar smirked. "Alright, now we're getting somewhere."

For the next few hours, he experimented with different enchantments, testing durability, sharpness, and even a weak lightning effect. Each attempt gave him insight into how his skill worked, and with each success, he could feel himself improving.

Ding!

[Basic Enchanting has leveled up! (Lv. 4)]

"Nice!" Oscar grinned, wiping sweat from his forehead. He could already feel the difference in his control.

Now, there was the other skill: [Weapon Fusion]. He eyed his Crimson Fang and the Infernal Claymore. Could I actually fuse them?

The success rate was low, and he didn't want to risk his best weapons. Instead, he grabbed two old swords from the storage shed. They were dull and rusty, perfect test subjects.

Holding them together, he activated [Weapon Fusion]. The weapons glowed brightly, the metal shifting and twisting as they attempted to merge. Oscar held his breath, waiting for the result.

Ding!

[Weapon Fusion Failed – Materials Unstable]

The swords cracked, breaking apart into useless scrap. Oscar groaned. "Yep, definitely need to level this up first."

Still, he had made progress today. With his enchanting skill improving and a better understanding of fusion, he was on the right path. Tomorrow, he'd push even further.

But for now, it was time for dinner—before Emimel dragged him inside herself.

Later after dinner, he put a fork and a knife in his Inventory and then used as he actived [Weapon Fusion], the light glows as then the two Itean came flying out and hit the wall in his room with a thud

Ding!

[Weapon Fusion Failed - Material Unstable]

Oscar then grabbed the items again as just like any good RPG protagonist he tryed again, this time hoping RNG was there for him.

Oscar took a deep breath and tried again, activating [Weapon Fusion] with the fork and knife. The glow surrounded them, shifting and warping their shapes. He clenched his fists, hoping this time it would work.

Ding!

[Weapon Fusion Successful – You have created 'Forkblade' (A hybrid between a fork and a knife, slightly sharper than an average utensil)]

Oscar blinked. "Wait… what?" He picked up the so-called 'Forkblade' and inspected it. It was literally just a fork with a sharper edge.

He sighed, rubbing his temples. "Well, at least it worked."

Looking at his status, he saw a small improvement in the skill's proficiency. He grinned. Alright, if I just keep at this, I can improve the success rate.

He spent the next hour fusing random objects—spoons with chopsticks, metal scraps with nails, even a hammer with a wrench. Most attempts failed, but a few successes gave him weird but functional hybrid tools.

Ding!

[Weapon Fusion has leveled up! (Lv. 4)]

Oscar smirked. "Now we're getting somewhere."

He leaned back, stretching. If he could push this skill further, he might be able to fuse real weapons effectively. But for now, he needed some rest.

Tomorrow, he'd find better materials—and maybe, just maybe, create something actually useful.

The next morning, Oscar woke up early, determined to push [Weapon Fusion] further. He rummaged through the farm's tool shed, gathering anything that might be useful—old knives, a broken hoe, rusty swords from the attic, and even a spare revolver his aunt kept locked away.

Sitting outside, he started experimenting.

First, he grabbed two old daggers and activated [Weapon Fusion]. A golden glow enveloped them, and they began to merge—until they suddenly exploded into sparks.

Ding!

[Weapon Fusion Failed – Material Instability]

Oscar groaned. "Alright, let's try something else."

He picked up a hammer and a short sword. This time, he channeled his aura, steadying his hands as he activated the skill.

Ding!

[Weapon Fusion Successful – You have created 'Warhammer Blade' (A fusion of a short sword and hammer, capable of slashing and bludgeoning)]

Oscar grinned, swinging the hybrid weapon experimentally. "Oh, now this is cool."

He continued, trying different combinations:

A sickle with a dagger → [Reaper's Fang] (A curved blade designed for swift, deadly cuts)

A farming scythe with a metal rod → [Battle Scythe] (A polearm weapon with increased reach)

His Infernal Claymore with an old greatsword → Failed… again.

After several hours of trial and error, Oscar sat back, exhausted but satisfied. His skill had leveled up again, and he was beginning to understand how different materials reacted to fusion.

Ding!

[Weapon Fusion has leveled up! (Lv. 5) – Success Rate Increased]

He smirked. "Soon, I'll be able to fuse real weapons in battle."

Just as he was about to take a break, Emimel called out from the house. "Oscar! Someone's here to see you!"

He blinked, standing up. "Huh? Who would visit me all the way out here?"

Wiping his hands, he walked toward the house—only to freeze when he saw the visitor.

Qrow Branwen stood there, arms crossed, smirking. "Hey, kid. Ready for another round?"

Ding!

[Host has gotten a new skill

Weapon Disassembled and Reassemble Level 1 (Allows the host to Disassembled and Reassemble weapons)]

Oscar put the notification of the system only he can see. "Really, do we have too spar".

Qrow chuckled as he looked at Oscar. "Nope, but anyway sense your my student wanna go on trip, it is city called Argus"

Oscar raised an eyebrow as he spoke. "Why there, I have heard about in school".

Qrow smirked as he took a sip from his flask. "Argus is one of the best places to train in real combat scenarios. It's a city with a strong Huntsman presence, and it's close to Anima's major trade routes. More importantly…" He gave Oscar a knowing look. "There's a weaponsmith I know there. If you're serious about improving your skills, you'll want to meet him."

Oscar's eyes widened. A weaponsmith? That meant he could learn more about forging and upgrading weapons. His mind raced with possibilities.

He glanced back at the notification from the system. [Weapon Disassemble and Reassemble]—a skill that could let him break down weapons and put them back together. If he could master it, combined with [Weapon Fusion], he might be able to create something truly unique.

After a moment, he nodded. "Alright. When do we leave?"

Qrow grinned. "Pack your bags, kid. We leave at dawn."

The next morning, Oscar said his goodbyes to Emimel, who warned him not to get into too much trouble. He and Qrow boarded a train heading to Argus, with Oscar eager to see just what kind of skills he could unlock next.

Oscar had his back on shoulder as he looked at Qrow. "So why exactly are you taking at this trip".

Qrow leaned back in his seat, a smirk on his face as he swirled the contents of his flask. "Well, kid, let's just say I owe someone a favor. And Argus is a good place for you to train outside of Beacon's little bubble." He paused for a moment, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Plus, it's not every day a guy gets to learn from a legendary weaponsmith. You might even pick up a trick or two to level up those skills of yours."

Oscar raised an eyebrow, curious but still a bit skeptical. "A legendary weaponsmith? How good are we talking? Legendary in a way that could actually help me with my abilities?"

Qrow chuckled, his tone light but serious underneath. "You'll see for yourself. The guy's got some serious talent. He's not your average smith; this guy knows the ins and outs of both forging and upgrading weapons on a whole different level." He leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice. "And let's just say, if you play your cards right, you could end up learning something even more valuable than just techniques."

Oscar couldn't help but be intrigued, a sense of anticipation building within him. "What are you getting at, exactly?"

Qrow gave him a sly smile. "You'll see when we get there. Trust me, kid, a little mystery is good for the soul."

Oscar nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and curiosity. "Alright, I'm in. Let's just hope I don't embarrass myself with whatever they teach me."

Qrow smirked. "Don't worry, Oscar. You've got the right spirit. Now, let's get you ready for whatever's coming next."
