Chapter 11: Sixth High School Monthly Exam
A month passed quickly.
During this time, Xu Luo attended his classes as usual. With the principal's oversight, Zhao Yiming, the Dean of Students, didn't dare act recklessly.
Although the Xiang family wielded significant influence in Tianhai, this was a crucial period for new students entering their divine realms; knowing this, the Education Department was paying close attention. If Zhao Yiming dared to use the Xiang family's influence against new students, it would spell disaster for them.
News of Xu Luo's victory over Xiang Yang spread quickly throughout the school, earning him sudden fame. Although some students, unafraid of the Xiang family, approached Xu Luo in hopes of befriending him, he remained indifferent. He followed a strict routine going to and from school, attending theory classes, and then wreaking havoc in the World of Gods upon returning home.
In just a month, he had destroyed numerous divine realms, expanding his own to tens of thousands of kilometers, much larger than before, and featuring increasingly diverse terrains. Some of these terrain types were plundered, while others were purchased with faith power.
The more diverse the resources, the more evolution points the mayflies could collect, slowing the realm's shrinkage. His realm now contained abundant underground mineral deposits as well, thanks to nearly ten months of development in the divine realm.
On this day, Xu Luo woke up early. After washing up and having a nutritious meal, he set off for school. Today was the monthly exam day for all new students at Sixth High School, and both the school and the students took this assessment very seriously.
The exam was designed to screen for elite students and select the best. Although only a month had passed in the real world, ten months had elapsed in their divine realms, and differences between individuals had already become apparent. Whether due to family support or luck in starting with good species, everyone had their own advantages.
Family assistance was considered a legitimate advantage, and the school didn't prohibit it. Other civilizations operated similarly, which was why it was difficult for children from humble backgrounds to succeed.
The power of capital allowed these second-generation students to easily surpass ordinary people; and while others struggled to accumulate faith power to buy species cards, resource cards, or terrain cards, these students could effortlessly spend large sums to purchase whatever they wanted. Of course, this help was mainly provided at the start; continuous support wasn't feasible, as even wealthy families couldn't sustain such expenses.
Upon arriving at school, Xu Luo went directly to the simulated combat arena. Many students were already there, mostly gathered by class.
"Xu Luo, over here!" Class teacher Zhang Jianming called out excitedly when he saw Xu Luo.
Xu Luo was now his prized student.
After all, Class 19 was an ordinary class that originally had Xiang Yang, a second-generation student. But after Xiang Yang's transfer, there were no students with strong backgrounds left. The others were mostly average, with no standout performers. Xu Luo had become Class 19's pride.
Seeing Xu Luo approach, the other students greeted him as well. During internal class simulations, they had all been thoroughly beaten by Xu Luo, so they had great confidence in him. Now, with the competition organized by class, having a formidable classmate made them all proud.
As time passed, more students and teachers arrived. Even Principal Zhong Tianyue, rarely seen usually, was sitting in a high place to observe this exam. Beside him were various heads of the first-year grade, including Dean of Students Zhao Yiming.
The presence of all the school leaders showed how much importance they attached to this first assessment of the new students.
Zhao Yiming's gaze discreetly fell on Xu Luo, his thoughts unknown. Zhong Tianyue glanced at him from the corner of his eye, immediately causing Zhao Yiming to withdraw his attention.
"So you're Xu Luo?" Just as Xu Luo was standing at the front of Class 19, waiting for the exam to begin, a handsome young man approached.
"Do you need something?" Xu Luo frowned, sensing the unfriendly attitude.
"I was curious about the much-talked-about figure in our school," the young man said coldly. "Although Xiang Yang is useless, he did start with goblins. Even I would have found it challenging to defeat him at the beginning."
Xu Luo looked at him, not feeling the need to respond.
"Xiang Xun, this is Class 19's area. The exam is about to start. Shouldn't you return to your own class?" Zhang Jianming spoke calmly.
"Heh!" Xiang Xun let out a meaningful chuckle, glanced at him, and turned to leave.
After Xiang Xun left, Zhang Jianming's expression turned serious as he introduced him to Xu Luo. "Xiang Xun is an elite from Class 1 and a direct descendant of the Xiang family, incomparable to Xiang Yang. Be careful!"
Though both were from the Xiang family, large families naturally had their hierarchies. Xiang Xun and Xiang Yang were worlds apart. In fact, most exams usually saw ordinary students serving as foils for these privileged students. With strong backgrounds and abundant resources, they had left others far behind from the very beginning.
Honestly, it wouldn't be surprising if some in the elite class had already become a God.
Family support and the school's resource allocation to elite students had created a significant gap between them and others. In this exam, outstanding students would be selected for the elite class, so families with some means would spare no expense to improve their children's strength. For ordinary or middle-class families, this was a chance for rapid advancement. However, moving from an ordinary class to the elite class was extremely difficult, especially when the others were already far ahead.
"The elite class, huh?" Xu Luo spoke softly, his lips curving into a meaningful smile.
Xiang Xun had been raised from childhood with the mindset that others were mere commoners. When he looked at Xu Luo just now, it was probably with the attitude of a giant looking down at an ant in the dust. At most, this ant might be slightly stronger than the others, but to a giant, there was no real difference.
But that only applied to ordinary people.
Xu Luo, possessing the Overlord system, was no ordinary person. Especially after this past month, having destroyed many divine realms of other civilizations, his strength had grown exponentially.
Anyone underestimating him would pay a heavy price. He was determined to show these second-generation students how his Zerg would overwhelm them, giving them a huge surprise!
