Chapter 14: Witch Attack Bonus
Subaru woke up early in the morning, as he bursted his teeth, as he went outside, too see that Roswaal was being handed a Briefcase by Ram, as next too Subaru was Koyami.
Subaru looked at Roswaal as he spoke. "Mr Roswaal where are you going".
Roswaal looked at as he spoke. "Oh noting much Subaru, just going for business I will be back by sun rise".
Subaru narrowed his eyes slightly but didn't press further. He knew Roswaal always had his own agenda, and prying too much wouldn't get him anywhere. Instead, he turned his attention to the village, which was starting to wake up.
Koyami floating as the Ying and Yang sport just yawn as he just went too Subaru hair, as Subaru looked at Roswaal. "Is it that important".
Roswaal looked as he spoke. "Yes it is, now I will back soon, I trust everyone safety on You, Rem and Ram".
As then used his Umbrella as he flyed away, as Subaru looked as he at this point had too accept that normality is not gonna be easy.
Ram went too as she spoke. "You up Early, Barusu, let's get too work".
[Carmilla then spoke in Subaru Head. "A-are you getting B-bad feeling"]
Subaru then spoke in his mind. "Yeah but not right now for some reason, I mean what can go wrong".
Meanwhile in Villager, words of Roswaal leaving was made aw Meili told Elsa as she smirk. "Perfect now we can attack the village as our client said, we will do it in night".
Meanwhile in a clip side, as the witch Cult saw Roswaal fly of, as they sigehd as they leader came up, as his name was Leo.
Leo looked at Roswaal go away as he spoke. "Now with Roswaal gone we can find who ever this Box of pride is locating, we will attack at night".
As night fell over the village, the air grew tense. Subaru felt it in his bones—something was off. He stood outside, looking at the dimly lit streets, his hand resting on the hilt of a dagger.
[Sekhmet yawned in his mind. "Mmm… The Suber is being all alert. Good instincts, mm?"]
Subaru exhaled through his nose. "Yeah, but knowing something is coming and stopping it are two different things."
Koyami floated next to him, silent as usual, the yin-yang spirit rotating lazily.
Then, it happened.
A loud scream echoed from the village entrance. Subaru's body tensed as he turned toward the sound. He saw figures in black robes slipping through the shadows, moving with eerie precision.
The Witch Cult had arrived.
At the same time, a separate battle erupted near the village's outskirts. A lone figure moved through the darkness, cutting down a villager with merciless precision.
Elsa Granhiert had begun her hunt.
Subaru's mind raced. Two attacks at once?!
[Pandora spoke in his mind, amused. "Oh my, things are getting quite interesting."]
[Minerva yelled. "Subaru, MOVE! You need to protect them!"]
Snapping out of his thoughts, Subaru turned toward Ram and Rem, who were already rushing into action.
"Koyami!" Subaru barked. "You take the left side with Ram and clear out any cultists you find. Rem and I will handle the right!"
Meanwhile with Rem and Ram as they were also ready too go too sleep with in Mantion, they heard an explosion, as then Koyami phased through that of the door.
Ram and Rem immediately snapped to attention as the explosion echoed through the mansion. The tremor shook the walls, and the faint glow of fire reflected through the windows.
Koyami phased through the door, his yin-yang sphere spinning rapidly as he floated before them. His expression remained unreadable, but the urgency in his presence was clear.
"The village is under attack," Koyomi stated simply.
Ram narrowed her eyes. "By whom?"
Koyami turned toward the window, his tone eerily calm. "Witch Cult. And assassins."
Rem gasped. "Assassins?" Her mind immediately jumped to Subaru. If assassins were involved, he was likely their target. Without hesitation, she grabbed her morning star. "We need to find Subaru."
Ram, though less outwardly concerned, nodded in agreement. "If the Witch Cult and assassins are both attacking, that means we're their main targets. We must act quickly."
Suddenly, another explosion rocked the mansion, this time closer. Smoke began to fill the halls as screams echoed from the servants' quarters.
Ram clicked her tongue in frustration. "Tch. I'll handle the intruders inside. Rem, you go to Subaru."
Rem hesitated for a second before nodding. "Be careful, Sister."
With that, the two maids rushed into action—one toward Subaru, the other toward the chaos within the mansion.
Emilia came out of her room. "What is going on".
Ram then grabbed Elsa hand as she opened the door, as she puts her in Beatrice. "You stay here".
Ram looked at someone walking up, as this was Elsa as she looked at her and was disappointed. "Just a maid, I was hoping for him too guard the machine, this is waste, Still". She smirks as ehe spoke. "Your inside are still gonna be a beautiful red".
Ram narrowed her eyes at Elsa, gripping her wand tightly. "And you must be the assassin we were warned about. How unfortunate for you."
Elsa chuckled, unfazed by the threat. "Oh? You have confidence for a mere maid."
Ram didn't dignify her with a response. Instead, she lunged forward, wind magic surging around her as she aimed to strike. Elsa effortlessly dodged, her movements fluid like a shadow, and countered with a swift slash of her dagger.
Meanwhile, inside Beatrice's room, Emilia looked around in confusion. "Ram just shoved me in here. What's happening?"
Beatrice huffed, crossing her arms. "Hmph! It seems those bothersome intruders have arrived. I suppose it was wise of Ram to put you here, I suppose."
Emilia frowned, concern clear on her face. "But what about Subaru? And Rem?"
Beatrice clicked her tongue. "That fool better not do anything reckless, I suppose."
Outside, Elsa continued her assault, her blades moving like lightning. Ram barely managed to keep up, countering with wind magic-enhanced strikes. However, Elsa was faster, stronger, and enjoying every second of the fight.
"You're impressive for a maid," Elsa admitted, blocking another strike. "But I wonder… how long can you last?"
Ram grit her teeth, already feeling the strain. If Subaru doesn't show up soon, this will get difficult.
Meanwhile Subaru had arrived to the village as Koyami was next him, as he arrives too the Village as he saw fire and some Villager running, as he actived [Phantom Blade Mastery] as one of the Witch Cult who was going too kill one of the member as then Subaru cut his head as he looked around as he saw Meili.
Subaru narrows his dagger at her as he spoke. "So you were working with the Witch Cult".
She laughed as she looked at him. "Nope me and big sister was higher for this mission, as for witches they can on there own".
He then saw bellow her was many death witch Cult members as she continued. "Truth me told they are taking away my fun".
Subaru narrowed his eyes. So Elsa and Meili were hired separately from the Witch Cult? Then who planned all this?
He glanced at the burning village, his grip on his blade tightening. The Witch Cult was here searching for something, and now Elsa and Meili were making things worse.
"Then why are you still here?" Subaru asked, keeping his stance ready.
Meili shrugged. "Orders. We gotta make sure things go smoothly before big sis finishes her job. Though honestly…" She glanced at the Witch Cult corpses with clear disappointment. "These guys are boring."
Subaru clicked his tongue. "Tch. And you just kill people for fun?"
Meili smirked. "It's a job."
Before Subaru could respond, Koyami floated beside him, whispering. "More Witch Cultists incoming. And something… bigger."
Subaru turned sharply. Through the flames and chaos, more cultists were approaching, but what made him tense was the large, shadowy figure moving behind them.
"Ahhh, great," Subaru muttered. Because things weren't bad enough already.
Meili landed looking at him. "Sense we have comman enemy, I will work with you".
Subaru raised an eyebrow but didn't lower his dagger. "Oh? Just like that?"
Meili smirked. "Like I said, these guys are taking my fun away. And if they kill too many villagers, we don't get paid. So, I'll help you clean up a bit."
Subaru scoffed. "How reassuring."
Koyami floated beside him, eyes narrowing. "She's telling the truth… for now."
Subaru sighed. "Fine. But if you even think about double-crossing me—"
Meili giggled. "Relax, relax~! I won't betray you… yet."
Before Subaru could respond, a roar echoed through the village. A massive, dark-furred manticore burst through a burning house, its glowing red eyes locked onto them.
Meili's smile widened. "Oh, now this is interesting."
Subaru tightened his grip on his blade. Great. Just great.
Meanwhile with that of In the Machine, Ram was sent out the window, as she landed in the ground, as she got up and looked at Elsa, as Elsa landed next too her.
Ram looked as she spoke clearly trying too anger her. "You dagger skill seek half bake, almost like you are relying on Muscle Memory".
Elsa licked her lips, amused. "Oh? And here I thought maids were supposed to be polite."
Ram adjusted her grip on her wand. "I simply speak the truth. Your movements lack precision, like a beast relying on instinct rather than skill."
Elsa's smile twitched, her grip on her dagger tightening. "You know, I was going to take my time with you, but now… I think I'll carve you up first."
Ram smirked. "Try it, Bowel Hunter."
Without warning, Elsa lunged, her blade flashing toward Ram's throat. Ram barely dodged, countering with a burst of wind magic that sent Elsa skidding back.
Elsa grinned. "Not bad. But let's see how long you can keep up."
Ram exhaled, bracing herself. "I just need to stall until Subaru and the others handle the village…"
Elsa wasted no time, her dagger flashing through the air as she closed in on Ram again. This time, her strikes were faster, more precise—she had taken Ram's words as a challenge.
Ram deflected with wind magic, enhancing her agility as she sidestepped Elsa's rapid slashes. She spun, her wand glowing as she unleashed a powerful gust.
"Fura!"
The concentrated blast of wind sent Elsa flying backward, but the assassin twisted midair, landing gracefully.
Elsa wiped a bit of blood from her cheek, her smirk widening. "You're stronger than I expected, but..." She disappeared from sight, moving with terrifying speed.
Ram barely had time to react as Elsa reappeared behind her, dagger already mid-swing.
"Too slow."
Ram twisted, narrowly avoiding a fatal strike, but Elsa's dagger still grazed her arm, drawing blood.
Ram grit her teeth. "Damn it, she's adapting."
She quickly assessed her options. Stalling wouldn't be easy. She had to fight smarter.
Meanwhile in the village
Subaru cut down another Witch Cultist, his [Phantom Blade Mastery] guiding his movements as he weaved through the battlefield. Next to him, Meili grinned, using her magic to command a swarm of beasts, which tore through the Cultists.
"You're enjoying this a little too much," Subaru muttered as he sliced through another enemy.
Meili giggled. "Well, it's fun watching my cute little pets work~"
Subaru exhaled, looking toward the center of the village. "We need to push forward. If the Cult is here, then there's something—or someone—they're after."
As if answering his thoughts, a loud boom echoed from deeper within the village. A massive figure stepped forward, clad in dark robes, with a golden emblem of Pride on their chest.
The Witch Cult's Pride Representative, Leo.
Leo grinned, cracking his knuckles. "The one we seek... is here." His gaze locked onto Subaru.
Subaru narrowed his eyes. "They're after me?"
Meili tilted her head. "Well, isn't that interesting?"
Leo stepped forward, his presence radiating authority. "You bear the scent of the Witch… and yet, you are not one of us. That… is unacceptable."
Subaru tensed as Leo's power flared, his aura suffocating.
This fight was going to be a problem.
