Reverend insanity: Heaven devouring demon venerable

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Eat Immortal Gu

In White Heaven.

Heavenly Court Grotto Heaven, where the greatest Gu immortal organization in the world, Heavenly Court was residing.

It was big and vast, being by far the largest Grotto Heaven in the world, as it was made of three rank 9 blessed lands and uncountable rank 8's.

It also possessed multiple Immortal Gu houses of different abilities and powers, and all of them were masterpieces.

In one of them, a Fairy with striking beauty was sitting on a floating chair.

She was adorned in a beautiful purple robe which could hardly conceal her graceful figure. Her eyes were like deep dark pools, her skin was white as snow and her black hair hung down to her waist.

She was an ancestor of the Spirit affinity house and the future Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord candidate: Fairy Zi Wei.

Multiple flying cups were flying around her, getting controlled by her will to approach her lips every time she needed a sip of tea.

The tea she was drinking was by no means ordinary, it was a tea specially made to help wisdom path cultivators deduce faster, increasing their thought power by 30 percent.

This tea was created from a material that her previous partner created, the most mysterious Dao Guardian Ning Zu.

Taking a sip from this beverage, a thought surfaced in her mind.

'What if Ning Zu was back?'

In their time together, she saw how cruel Ning Zu was, especially to people that he holds a grudge against.

If he ever gets a hold of her, especially after she betrayed him and was one of the main reasons he died, she would be done for.

The thought was quickly suppressed, as she had more important things to think about now.

Little did she know, deep in the Immortal Graveyard, where countless Heavenly Court immortals slumber, a monster who once challenged the fate of the whole Gu world was about to wake up very soon.

— — —

In Southern Border, inside a Grotto Heaven.

Ning Zu was sitting cross-legged, observing the new Guardian who looked exactly like his mother moments before her demise.

He tried to deduce why he got a second Guardian out of nowhere, making many theories, but he has no solid proof.

What happened to him was that Heaven's Will tried to invade his newly formed body, trying to attack his soul and do the same thing it did to Fang Yuan.

But Ning Zu wasn't an otherworldly demon so that failed miserably.

Normally, Heaven's will would have just dissipated, but his body for some reason absorbed the will, which was why he was out of it when he just got the new body.

Then from his aura, a new Guardian was born from that will.

'Heaven path…. What a strange path..'

In the whole Gu world, Heaven path is the hardest to cultivate without a doubt, the Gu of this path is impossible to refine with any normal method, and in all the years that Ning Zu has lived, he only found one person that cultivated it.

'Limitless, I can't wait to go back to Crazed Demon Cave and ask you about this, old friend.'

One of the main reasons that Ning Zu likes the Northern Plains is because of the Limitless Will that resides there.

Every thousand years, Ning Zu would go there and talk about cultivation with the will, which was extremely fun to do.

Not only did Limitless Will not mind at all, but he also welcomed him, as a Dao seeker himself, having a chat with another talented individual is a really pleasant experience.

"Well," Ning Zu got up, stretching a little bit "let's start the show."

He looked at his two Guardians, deciding to give them a name.

'The first Guardian shall be called Tang, short for Ning Tang, the second one I will call Hua, short for Lian Hua.'

Ning Zu used the real names of the people that they looked like on them, as he was bad at naming people, and he didn't want to forget who these Guardians resembled.

Especially his mother, who he used to love dearly.

If not for that incident that killed her with husband, Ning Zu would be a completely different person.

However, all he has in his heart now is a desire for revenge.

Walking up to the Immemorial Tiger Limb he used for refinement, Ning Zu opened his mouth, grabbed the limb and took a huge bite out of it, tearing it and crushing it with his teeth.

Meanwhile, the immortal essence in his aperture was depleting fast, as it was used by his vital Gu: the Eat Gu.

This Gu was what enabled him to eat this immemorial beast limb as if he were eating horse meat.

Of course, this was just the side effect, the real effect only started to show after Ning Zu swallowed.

As soon as everything went down his throat, his muscles started building, and he could feel unimaginable pain, as Dao marks coursed through his body.

To be specific, Ning Zu was now gaining food path Dao marks imprinted on his body!

This was the Eat Gu's ability, whatever you eat, if it had Dao marks of your specific path, they will be imprinted on your body.

However, the pain was unbearable, how unbearable you might ask? Well, in another timeline, a monster who had the spring autumn cicada Gu, refined the Perseverance Gu and broke Fate Gu after multiple hardships, felt pain like never before when some Heaven Path Dao marks invaded his body.

That monster was an immortal, his body could take that better than Ning Zu, who on the other hand is still a mortal, meaning that what he was feeling now would drive anyone mad.

Looking up at the sky as his hair started turning green from all the food path Dao marks he was getting, Ning Zu screamed.

At that moment, the tribulation struck!

Black holes started appearing in the sky, and from them, multiple beasts started popping out.

Most of them were Desolated beats, with some Ancient Desolated beats falling too.

This was a Myriad Tribulation known as the Space Door Tribulation, opening multiple black holes acting as a door to transport a beast to the blessed land.

The Heavenly Spirit appeared at that moment, finally setting up the formation that Reckless Savage left behind.

Teleporting to the sky, it activated it, setting up a big barrier that stopped anything from falling.

Most of the beasts hit the barrier like a meteor, making huge lumps of meat paste everywhere on it.

The ones that did survive got crushed by the other monsters falling on top of them.

Desolated and Ancient Desolated beats are usually naturally durable, so they shouldn't get damaged from falling off from this height.

The barrier was the real thing crushing them, it had a special type of Dao marks that made gravity increase exponentially every time something got close.

It was also very durable, capable of taking a serious punch from Reckless Savage without breaking.

If he used no Gu and no Totems that is, and that was when he just ascended to rank 9, and the Barrier barely held back.

Still, he was a venerable, which showed how powerful this barrier was.

Holes were opening and closing, but none of the beasts coming out posed any threat.

Until!

In the middle of the sky, a massive black hole started to open very slowly, connecting a beat tide of Dust Beats in black heaven.

This was serious, these beats were comparable existence to soul beats, but they were much more dangerous.

These beats were giants made entirely of stardust, every time you attack them they will get patched up immediately, to make it even worse, they are incapable of pain.

The only way to kill them is to break their core, wish is what lets them regenerate indefinitely.

This will be impossible to do if you don't have a superb investigative immortal Gu, because these cores are smaller than a grain of sand, and they move at the speed of light inside them.

The only thing stopping them from entering right now was the little space that the black hole offered, but that wouldn't be the case for long, as it was opening slowly.

Unlucky for them, the spirit had the perfect counter for them, the See What You Desire Gu.

This Gu was later acquired by the spirit after Reckless Savage's Death from Limitless Will, who made a deal with it for this Gu.

This Gu's could let you see anything you want no matter how well it's hidden as long as you have a clear idea of what it is.

With a single thought, the Spirit made the original spirit of the Grotto Heaven appear in front of it while holding a Gu in its hand.

The spirit then opened its mouth, swallowing it.

Normally, a spirit wasn't very powerful, they could barely count as a rank 6 existence.

So the spirit was very weak compared to the Dust beats that it wanted to kill.

However, the same doesn't apply to the original Heavenly spirit.

You see, after Reckless Savage made the artificial spirit, he tried to refine the original spirit into a Totem, using the Heaven Path Dao marks on it that were even greater than a normal spirit since it absorbed a Green Heaven fragment.

He was very close to doing so, but he was almost out of lifespan, so he left the incomplete Totem and left behind some of his inheritances before going to the western desert, taking on a Chaotic Disaster with just his body and dying to it.

That place is what is now known as Reckless Savage's grave, and it's rumored that his last inheritance with all of his teachings is there.

But before he left, he modified the incomplete Totem to merge with the artificial spirit when needed.

The Heavenly spirit looked at its hand, feeling a great power coursing through it.

"Master, I won't fail you!" With a scream, the spirit made an opening for it in the barrier and jumped inside the Blackhole, punching an Immemorial Dust beast in the face, making its followers stop trying to enter and attacking the ant who dared to attack their leader.

Meanwhile, Ning Zu was screaming his guts out while Guardian Hua was melting multiple Eating type Gu in a giant pot, most of them being mortal versions of Eat Space Gu.

Guardian Tang on the other hand just returned from gathering materials from multiple resource points, most of them being rank 5 resources with some rank 6 in them.

He would have gotten more Immortal materials if not for the difficulty of doing so, as they were very hard to get even if the resource point was in front of you.

They were enough tho, so he dropped all of them in the giant pot, making a lot of steam rise out of it.

Both of the Guardians could feel the heat of the melted liquid, if they could they would have waited a little bit for the liquid to cool off before doing what they wanted to do, but Ning Zu was in too much agony.

So, each of them grabbed the pot from a different handle and flew with it, approaching Ning Zu.

And without a single exchange, they poured the liquid inside his mouth, stopping his screams from coming out as his vital cords were burned to a crisp.

To anyone else, this would have looked painful, but to Ning Zu, it was bliss what he was experiencing, as the liquid started burning and merging with what was causing him this tremendous pain.

Eat Gu's effects are split into three: Chewing, swallowing, and digesting.

Chewing and swallowing were merely side effects of the Gu, digesting was the main one.

When digesting, your body will begin taking what it needs from the food, in this case, it's the Dao marks.

But here, there are too many benefits for the body to take, as a rank 5, the most his body could take is exactly 850 Dao marks.

So instead of the Dao marks being imprinted on his body, they just kept getting stuck in his muscles, bones, and veins, making him feel the pain that made a person like him scream.

In reality, what hurt the most was his stomach, which still had a huge chunk of meat lying there, as the Dao marks passage from it to his body is blocked.

But now, it was being burned, stopping the pain in his stomach.

Ning Zu dropped to the ground, falling unconscious.

Guardian Hua wasted no time, opening up his stomach with precision, without harming his aperture or making the liquid escape.

Ning Zu knew of the dangers, so could have just taken a small bite out of the Limb, but he decided to devour a big chunk of it not because of his greed, but because he wanted to refine something.

The food path inheritance he got from Spectral Soul had four main parts, and one of them was the eating type Gu that Ning Zu just made

The other part was the Stomach-type Gu, although not have incredible attacking power like the Eating-type Gu, they were incredibly useful.

In the inheritance, there were five recipes of the Stomach Type Gu: rank 5 Crystal Purple Stomach Gu, rank 6 Green Grape Stomach Gu, rank 7 Red Date Stomach Gu, rank 8 White Litchi Stomach Gu and rank 9 Yellow Apricot Stomach Gu.

Unlike the Eating Type Gu, which has thousands of different Gu, the Stomach Type Gu only has five.

Each one of them could store anything there as long as it's not alive, the only difference is how much they can store.

But the biggest advantage they give is the fact that they are tied to your aperture in a way that when you advance in a rank, it advances too.

As amazing as this sounds, it was hard to do, you would have more change refining an immortal Gu than refining the Crystal Purple Stomach Gu!

This is why Ning Zu decided to go through all of this pain, it was to have a high number of food path Dao marks while refining so he doesn't fail.

Even if refining the Gu has a low chance, it is still a mortal Gu, and in the right environment, it will be refined.

After making sure that the liquid wouldn't leave his body, Guardian Hua started operating on him.

Using the Puppetry Gu, it started attaching the liquid that was becoming solid to his aperture.

Normally speaking, she should use a rank 5 material named life strings, and the puppetry strings being used are arguably better because of their ability to connect with the aperture.

Although Ning Zu was feeling less pain than before, it still hurt like hell.

The liquid stabilized, making Guardian Tang activate a healing Gu.

The stomach that was completely burned before was now merging with the liquid, then Guardian Hua attacked a string to the stomach, making essence flow through it and transforming it into a crystal purple color.

Aura then started radiating from the stomach, to be specific, a rank 5 aura.

Guardian Hua cut off the strings that it attached, they were useless now, the connection with the stomach and the aperture was beyond the strings now.

The refinement was successful!

Ning Zu was later there without any pain left, as the Dao marks that were circulating in his body went to his hair, turning it into a dark green color.

The Dao marks left from the refinement were all stored in the Gu now, safe and sound.

'I did everything I wanted to do here, the tribulation will be taken care of by the spirit, I will rest now..'

Just as he was about to do so, he saw the spirit that now was the spitting image of Reckless Savage getting out of the Black hole, bruised up and broken.

Ning Zu remembered, the harsh one hundred years he went through because of him only for him to get no benefit.

He bit his lips until they bled, getting up and being ready for his first revenge.

"Today is your last day, fucker!"

Opening his mouth, he released all the Dao marks stored in his stomach, sending a blast that broke the barrier.

The spirit, completely worn out from the battle, got hit by the blast, sending it back to the Black hole that closed itself.

With a flaw in the barrier, it started to slowly break, letting all the beats descend to the blessed land ready for chaos.

But Ning Zu didn't care, today, he will get his revenge no matter what!
