Restart, Spider-Man!

Chapter 216: Restart, Spider-Man! [216]

Dark clouds loomed heavily over the city, thunder rumbling in the distance.

"Boom!!"

A flash of white light pierced the sky as the leech totem surged upward, transforming into a colossal entity that coiled ominously within the storm clouds.

The faint shadow of a massive beast took shape in the darkness, its long, glowing blue spots illuminating briefly in the gloom. Above the city, countless points of light emerged, forming a web-like constellation. These lights spanned the heavens, converging at a single focal point that beamed down like a spotlight, directly onto the flying craft carrying Xia Luo.

The enormous leech in the clouds remained invisible to most, but the blue luminescence was undeniable, tangible.

Citizens screamed in awe and fear.

---

At the base of Stark Tower, Eric and Charles gazed toward the Empire State Building's peak. Their expressions reflected sheer disbelief.

"Such exaggerated effects!"

Charles attempted to probe the figure with his psychic abilities but was abruptly halted by an ethereal web of unknown origin. It repelled his efforts with ease, leaving him unnerved.

"This..."

He could see the intricate web clearly now, a deep unease settling in his chest.

"It feels connected to Spider-Man somehow," he muttered.

"Spider-Man?" Eric frowned. "If this is his enemy and he dies, then we..."

Eric left the sentence unfinished, but Charles understood the implication.

"Look at that light."

Charles pointed toward the radiant pillar on the other side of the city. "That's where we need to go."

"Let's move."

"Agreed."

Without hesitation, they abandoned their investigation of Tony Stark and hurried toward the source of the light.

---

At S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters

"Commander, that figure is at the Empire State Building," Coulson said, handing Carter a tablet.

"The magnetic field data around the area confirms that he, too, is from another universe. He's hunting Spider-Man—a terrifying foe."

"A nemesis of Spider-Man..."

Carter stared at the large monitor, her pulse quickening.

"Something's different this time. This one isn't like the Inheritor we faced before. He's worse. His arrival has even altered the city's weather. Is this some kind of warning for Spider-Man?"

She fixed her gaze on the figure atop the Empire State Building and waved her hand. "Alert everyone. Prepare for action."

"Everyone?" Coulson was taken aback. "Commander, is that really necessary?"

"Hmm?" Carter raised an eyebrow.

"Don't get me wrong. I mean, if Spider-Man can't handle this, neither the Avengers nor the Thunderbolts will stand a chance."

Carter cast a sharp glance his way. "I know that. That's why your team will focus on civilian rescue. As for assisting Spider-Man..."

She took a deep breath. "We'll need Dr. Banner. If Spider-Man can't defeat him, we'll have no other choice."

"What?" Coulson was shocked. "Are you saying we need Dr. Banner to—?"

"Reed Richards has made progress with the gamma radiation experiments to control the Hulk. We can only hope it works."

Carter's voice softened. "But that's a last resort. Spider-Man will pull through."

Her eyes returned to the screen, where the beam of light descended, her unease lingering.

This opponent was trouble—serious trouble.

---

At that moment, the flying craft descended slowly within the beam of light.

Xia Luo stepped out, his nanotech suit forming seamlessly around him. He stared at the massive leech totem in the clouds, his chest's spider emblem pulsing with unease. Yet, beyond the apprehension, he felt an eagerness, a desire to leap into battle with the creature.

Since the resurrection match, the eight spider totems he wielded had shed their fear of so-called "predators."

The blue pillar of light that suppressed ordinary Spider-Men posed only a minor inconvenience for him.

"Swish~"

Swinging through the city's skyline, Gwen landed gracefully on a nearby GG signboard.

"Hey, what's going on? I feel like I can't breathe."

The arrival of the Morlun family filled her with an overwhelming sense of dread.

As Gwen approached, a tendril of blue light from the main beam split off and surged toward her.

At the same time, the figure atop the Empire State Building moved.

"Buzz!"

"Screech!!"

In an instant, a crimson trident sliced through the void, propelled by the unique power of the Morlun family. The weapon pierced Gwen's abdomen effortlessly.

"Splat!"

"Ugh—!"

Blue light surrounded her as blood sprayed from the wound, her small frame plummeting from the GG signboard under the force of the strike.

"How...?"

Pain radiated through her, and shock filled her eyes as she fell freely.

What incredible speed. She couldn't even react.

"Buzz~"

Before she hit the ground, magical sparks ignited, and Gwen fell into Xia Luo's arms.

"Are you okay?"

Xia Luo's expression darkened as he noticed the gaping wound in her abdomen.

"I... I'll be fine..."

Gritting her teeth, Gwen pressed her hand against the injury. Symbiote cells wriggled around the wound, quickly knitting the flesh back together.

Meanwhile, the crimson trident embedded in a nearby wall wrenched free, flying back toward its wielder.

At the Empire State Building's peak, the mysterious figure caught the returning trident mid-air. Then, he leapt from the towering structure, descending hundreds of meters without hesitation.

"Boom!!"

The ground shook as he landed like a meteor. Dust and debris erupted around him, the impact shattering the pavement and sending fragments flying. Panicked civilians scattered in terror.

Soon, the street fell silent amidst the wreckage.

The mysterious figure stood slowly, turning his gaze toward the two Spider-Men. His helmet's goggled lenses glowed faintly red.

"Two of you... Excellent."

With that, the crimson trident in his hand flared with bloody light once more.

"Buzz~"

"Boom!!"

He lunged forward in a blur, his speed overwhelming. Gwen's eyes widened in fear.

So fast. So terrifying.

"Watch out!"

In an instant, a circle of magical sparks surrounded them, teleporting Gwen and Xia Luo away.

Before the portal closed, the crimson trident wedged into its edge.

"Sizzle~"

"Crack, crack, crack—"

The mysterious figure twisted his weapon, and the portal failed to seal, crackling under the strain of an unknown force.

"You can't escape, Spider-Men—"

Before he could finish, a red-and-blue blur surged through the portal.

"Boom!!"

The street exploded as two figures crashed into a nearby shop.

"Kaboom!!"

The sound of fists colliding and immense strength reverberated through the area, followed by a powerful shockwave that obliterated the shop.

"Crash!"

The display windows shattered, and a figure tumbled out, skidding across the street and colliding with parked cars.

"Beep! Beep!"

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The relentless blare of car alarms echoed through the chaotic streets as explosions erupted one after another, trailing the mysterious figure.

Blazing firelight stretched over a hundred meters to the distant street corner. Citizens, hidden within nearby buildings, peeked out with wide eyes, their faces a mix of terror and faint hope.

Finally, a battered figure skidded to a halt after crashing through a fire hydrant, spraying water high into the air.

"It's not Spider-Man!"

"Thank goodness! This guy isn't a match for Spider-Man!"

Relief washed over the onlookers, their tense shoulders loosening.

At the corner of the street, the mysterious figure stood up, brushing the dust from his coat.

"Interesting," he murmured calmly. With a flick of his hand, the crimson trident embedded in the shop's wreckage flew back into his grasp.

A glowing portal materialized before him.

From the swirling magic, Xia Luo stepped out.

Eyeing the unscathed inheritor, Xia Luo crossed his arms with a smirk. "You're interesting, too. I mean your coat. Where'd you get it? It's been dragged across the pavement for ages, and it still hasn't ripped. I'd love one myself."

The mysterious figure gripped his trident and made an oddly formal gesture.

"I am Kahn of the Morlun family. I will claim your power—all for the glory of my family!"

With a thunderous cry, Kahn raised the crimson trident high. The air around him shifted, a strange magnetic field rippling outward. Above, the massive leech totem churned violently within the black clouds, its immense suction force descending onto the battlefield.

In an instant, Xia Luo's body became rigid, his chest's spider totem trembling under the pull of the immense force as it was forcibly extracted.

Compared to the Karren he had encountered before, this inheritor was far more terrifying.

Not only was Kahn stronger, but his mastery over totemic power specifically designed to suppress Spider-Men surpassed anything Xia Luo had faced.

At last, as one of Xia Luo's spider totems was torn from his body, the leech totem in the clouds grew even more frenzied. Its greed was palpable as it hungrily prepared to devour the extracted totem.

Yet, just as it was about to succeed, that greed shifted into surprise—then confusion, and finally, fear.

"Buzz~"

From Xia Luo's chest, another spider totem illuminated and voluntarily detached, soaring upward toward the colossal leech in the sky.

Then a third.

A fourth.

All eight of Xia Luo's spider totems emerged, swelling as they ascended into the heavens. They collided with the leech totem, binding it in a ferocious struggle.

Kahn's goggled eyes flared crimson, his voice trembling with disbelief.

"Impossible. Eight spider totems?! That's not possible!!"

With the leech totem restrained, Xia Luo's body regained its mobility.

"Kahn," Xia Luo taunted, beckoning with a crooked finger, "come on, hit me!"

Lowering his head slightly, the faint blue glow in Xia Luo's eyes dimmed.

"What...?"

Kahn hesitated, unsettled by the peculiar sight.

A Spider-Man with eight spider totems—he had never encountered anything like this before.

Even with Xia Luo appearing to "fall asleep," Kahn couldn't afford to be careless.

But...

Something in the sky caught his attention.

He glanced upward, his expression puzzled.

There was... something there.

Shrugging off his unease, he refocused on his goal. Hunting this Spider-Man, possessing eight spider totems, would ensure his triumphant return to the Morlun family.

With this thought in mind, Kahn raised his crimson trident again. The leech totem scattered tiny blue lights across the battlefield.

"Buzz!"

As the lights merged into his weapon, a searing red laser burst forth.

"Boom~~"

The laser swept across the street, toppling streetlights and slicing through building walls with ease. Nothing stood in its path.

Yet, Xia Luo avoided the devastating beam with a simple sidestep, his movements precise and devoid of wasted effort.

"Huh?"

Kahn frowned, sensing something amiss.

Frustrated, he leapt into the air, his trident raised.

"Argh!!"

With a roar, he brought the weapon crashing down.

But the red-and-blue figure dodged effortlessly once again, evading not only the strike but also the cascading debris from the impact.

"What...?"

Kahn's disbelief grew as he charged forward, his trident spinning and slashing at Xia Luo from impossible angles. Yet every strike missed as if Xia Luo could anticipate his every move.

No matter how fast Kahn attacked, he couldn't even graze Xia Luo's suit.

"Buzz~"

The trident erupted with energy again, but Xia Luo tilted his head slightly, letting the beam pass harmlessly by. His head remained lowered, his body still eerily calm.

Watching this, Kahn clenched his weapon tightly, halting his futile attacks.

He knew exactly what this was: Spider-Man's signature Spider-Sense.

But he had never seen it this sharp, this unrelenting.

Under the leech totem's influence, Spider-Men he had encountered before were rendered powerless, their Spider-Senses dulled to near uselessness. Even without the totem's suppression, they had never posed such a challenge.

This Spider-Man, however, was different—guided by forces beyond Kahn's understanding.

The greater the surprise, the greater the challenge.

For his family's glory, Kahn vowed to kill this Spider-Man.

Resolute, he plunged his trident into the ground. An ominous suction emanated from his helmet, the Morlun family's signature power spreading through the air.

He had figured it out: this Spider-Man only dodged and never attacked.

This made absorbing his strength far easier.

With his mind set, Kahn unleashed an even more terrifying suction from his helmet. The air rippled with Morlun energy, leaving the unresponsive Spider-Man with nowhere to run.

"Crack~"

Xia Luo crouched where he stood, dazzling light spilling from his body as his strength was drawn toward Kahn's helmet.

Simultaneously, the eight spider totems in the clouds faltered under the leech totem's renewed assault, teetering on the verge of being consumed.

Realizing his predicament, Xia Luo had no choice but to bring his spirit back into his body.

Physical attacks were one thing, but this strange power required a different approach.

"Buzz~"

As Xia Luo's soul reentered his body, his faint blue eyes reignited.

With his energy draining rapidly, Xia Luo ignored it and formed a series of hand seals.

"Buzz~"

Magic erupted from the black clouds above as phantom arms emerged from Xia Luo's back.

Shadow Clone Technique!

"Brothers, someone's trying to drain us. What do we do?"

"Beat him! Beat the crap out of him!"

"Let me go first! Neighborhood Friendly Cyclone of Doom!"

"Neighborhood Lightning Dragon Drill!"

"Neighborhood Serious Punch!"

In an instant, eight clones flooded the battlefield. Explosions rocked the streets as magic energy burst forth.

"Boom!!"

Kahn was hurled into a nearby shop amidst the chaos. The clones unleashed a relentless onslaught, spinning and tearing through the wreckage with merciless precision.

"Get lost!"

With a furious roar, Kahn drove his trident into one clone, pinning it to the ruins.

Before he could counter further, a torrent of blue light surged toward him.

Caught in a web of unrelenting spider silk, Kahn writhed in agony as countless fists rained down on him, each blow packing a devastating 200 tons of force.

"Step aside, guys," one clone shouted. "Time for me to take center stage!"

"Neighborhood Uppercut of Justice!!"
