Chapter 30: Participants

Under a lush tree, shining in the bright morning light with a fresh breeze, El's seemingly almost emotionless facial expression suddenly became complicated.

As if at this moment, El was thinking about the worst possibility in life. Whether the possibility was great or small, El could hardly guess with certainty.

"Hopefully the one who becomes the Devil is Nezuko, not Tanjiro at the beginning of the series." El muttered hopefully.

El had had enough of the timeline suddenly changing. Like, a hand demon that is suddenly as strong as 12 kizuki lower moon, or one of the Sananemi and Genya sisters is still alive.

El's current hope is to be able to carry out the main mission in the world of Kimetsu no yaiba calmly, and get her goal, the Demon slayer mark. Even though later in the future, El will have to deal with 12 kizuki or even Muzan Kibutsuji.

El could only sigh resignedly and hopefully for those things.

...

The night sky was like a white canvas with black paint. The moon in the night sky was the only decoration, illuminating the darkness of the forest below, full of screams of suffering that echoed in the forest.

"Enbu!" El performed a single quick vertical slash in a curved motion, and then he immediately put Nichirin back in its sheath.

Friction between Nichirin's blade and the surrounding space in a single vertical curved line was created. The demon figure's head was detached from its neck, hovering in the air for a few moments, until it finally fell.

The blood that spurted out caught fire in the process, like sparks in the midst of the silent darkness.

In the next instant, the body of the demon before him staggered and fell. Then, the demon's body, followed by the demon's head slowly crumbled into dust.

Right behind El, there were 4 participants, one of them, a woman. The woman was Sumi Shinazugawa, the younger sister of Genya and Sanemi.

While the other 3 final participants El did not recognize. Because El only got to know them this afternoon, plus not one of the characters in the manga to anime Kimetsu no Yaiba.

With a worried expression, Sumi stepped forward to El's back. After Sumi arrived, she gently patted El's shoulder.

"Adrian-san, are you sure you don't want to take turns fighting demons?" asked Sumi from behind El with a worried expression.

"What Sumi-san said is right, you've killed a lot of demons since the afternoon. Aren't you tired?" asked the man in black, right next to Sumi.

El shook his head. "No need, I don't feel tired at all. You guys just stay there, let me take care of the demons that come."

They all inevitably fell silent and agreed, leaving the task of killing the demons that came to El. Although, they could take turns or work together when fighting the demons that came.

There was a reason El did these things. First, El wanted to kill as many demons as possible. Second, El remembered his subordinates when he was in the Last human world, so El intended to protect them until the final selection was complete.

And the third, the last reason was no less important. El was on a side mission that he had just gotten the previous afternoon.

From behind, 4 participants followed El as he walked through the forest, after killing demons. While walking, El slightly remembered the details of the side mission.

This means that even though the biggest threat, The Hand Demon, has been taken care of by El, there is a possibility that the participants will not survive until 7 days in the final selection this time.

El will not blame the organizer of the final selection, the current leader of the demon assassin corp, Kagaya Ubusashiki for the death of the participants. Because demons are indeed very strong and dangerous from ordinary humans.

And also, the participants who participated in the final selection were also ready to throw away their lives. There may be some participants who are still afraid of death, what else can they do? It is natural that if humans are in a state of urgency for death, they are capable of doing anything.

Throughout the forest, El often encountered hungry demons. Quickly, it can be easy to kill these demons.

Slash!

"Argh!" The demon cried out as the pain of El's sword slash was comparable to basking in the sun.

Blood spurted out like a fountain. Each droplet of blood seemed to burn in the direction of Nichirin El's blade.

The demon's head flew up and was followed by its body shattering into dust in the gentle night breeze.

After killing the demon, as had become El's new habit with his new group. They all returned to explore the forest, whether El was aiming to find demons or other participants.

Not long exploring, El stopped under a leafy tree. Suddenly, frustration crossed his mind.

His right hand touched the trunk of the tree, supporting his body.

From behind, the participants, the impromptu group that had just formed, stopped walking. The expressions on their faces were unanimous, a look of surprise and wonder.

'Wait! If I'm too strong now, how do I get the experience of surviving death?'

'How do I get the Demon Slayer Mark? Isn't that one of the ways to get the Demon Slayer Mark? After meeting Tanjiro?'

El recalled that in order to evoke the Demon Exterminating Mark, one must survive in extremely life-threatening conditions, specifically a heart rate of more than 200 beats per minute and a body temperature of more than 39 degrees Celsius (102.2° Fahrenheit).

These conditions can be fatal in many cases. Survival is the main difference separating those who are marked and those who fail to revive.

However, the most important prerequisite is being in contact with someone who has the Mark or has been marked before.

Without fulfilling this condition, the Mark cannot be resurrected at all.

Unintentionally, El gripped the tree item so hard that it shattered. This made the final selection participants, including Sumi, even more confused.

"What's wrong, Adrian-san?" asked Sumi with a worried expression.

"Hey, Adrian-san. I admit, you're stronger than me. But, isn't it too much now? Let us kill the demons that appear later." said one of the participants.

"Right, let us kill the demons that later appear. You can rest comfortably, Adrian-san." said one of the participants.

Slightly exasperated, El glanced the next saw Sumi and shook his head quickly. "It's fine, no need to worry."

Then El shifted his gaze, looking at the other participants lined up and wearing worried expressions. They looked like parents worried about their child. This made El very upset.

"Stop using that expression, I'm not tired and won't take turns when killing those demons." El said in a cold tone and used emphasis on her words.

Secretly, El glanced at the right and left hands alternately. A crazy thought had crossed his mind. 'Should I cut off one of my hands? To make me weak?'

However, the thought of cutting off his hand would be extremely painful and troublesome.

Immediately, El put the crazy idea down. 'There is always a solution to every problem.'
