Chapter 40: midnight encounters
Chapter 36: "Midnight Encounters"
Ayra lay in bed, her mind racing with thoughts of Eden. Why was he, a handsome demi-god, so reserved and cold? What had he gone through to make him this way? She tossed and turned, unable to shake off the questions.
Eventually, she threw off the covers and got out of bed, deciding to get a glass of milk from the kitchen. As she walked down the hallway, she noticed that Olivia's door was slightly ajar. She peeked inside and saw Olivia sobbing silently, her body shaking with grief.
Ayra's heart went out to her, and she wondered what had triggered this emotional breakdown. She decided not to disturb Olivia and continued on to the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Eden snuck into Flynn's room, his eyes gleaming in the dark. "Dude, why are you in my room?" Flynn exclaimed, startled.
Eden's response was blunt. "My demon is not at ease."
Flynn smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. "So, that's why you sneak into my room, like lovers do?"
Eden's expression remained stoic, but his voice took on a hint of warning. "Idiot, I don't want Olivia or the girl to hear me."
Flynn's grin faltered, and he nodded, understanding. "Oh."
As they left the room, they bumped into Ayra, who was carrying a glass of milk. Flynn's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Why are you still awake, pretty?"
Ayra felt a flush rise to her cheeks as she realized she was wearing her bunny pajamas. "Can't sleep, came down to get milk," she stammered.
Flynn's gaze roamed over her, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Where are you guys headed to?" Ayra asked, trying to change the subject.
Flynn's grin returned. "To let Eden's demon out."
Ayra's eyes widened, but she didn't ask any more questions. "Oh."
Eden's gaze flicked to Ayra's pajamas, and he said, his voice low and husky, "Bunny."
Ayra's face burned with embarrassment, and she felt like crawling into a hole. She blushed and ran off to her room, leaving Flynn and Eden to exchange a knowing glance.
