Reincarnation Paradise

Chapter 926: The Message

On the staircase from the second to the castle's third floor, Alice and the bespectacled man led the way, Su Xiao and Bubbu following behind.

When Su Xiao stepped onto the stairs leading to the third floor, he felt like he passed through a thin membrane again. He glanced back at the second floor, which still appeared as it initially did, with neatly arranged dining tables.

However, from Su Xiao's current perspective, looking at the second floor felt like peering into another world—so close yet seemingly thousands of miles away.

"Brave one, is something wrong?" Alice's voice was gentle as she stopped walking.

"Nothing, I just left something on the second floor," Su Xiao replied.

"That's unfortunate," Alice said and continued up the stairs.

"Unfortunate?" Su Xiao indeed left something on the second floor—a coordinate transmitter. This revealed to him that each castle floor might be an independent space, making it nearly impossible to return to the second or first floors.

From an external perspective, the castle's structure seemed normal, going from top to bottom, but each floor was tightly sealed. With guidance from Alice or the Wolf Butler, one could freely move within the castle, meaning the game had no retreat.

Realizing this, Su Xiao continued up the stairs.

Pushing open a metal door, Su Xiao reached the third floor, and its structure surprised him.

The third floor resembled a residential house, about a few hundred square meters in size. The entrance led to a large living room with retro decor. Two crescent-shaped leather sofas faced each other, forming a vague circle.

In the center of the sofas was a low square stone table with a small sculpture of Alice on it. Fruit trays with exotic-looking fruits that Su Xiao had never seen were placed beside the sculpture.

The walls of the living room were adorned with several abstract oil paintings resembling children's doodles.

On the north side of the living room was a wooden staircase leading to a landing. Inside, there were eight rooms, each with a closed door and a numbered label from 1 to 8.

The third floor felt like a vintage luxury apartment designed to accommodate eight people with a shared living room.

Entering the third floor, Su Xiao saw that Pi Pang, the three National Football Brothers, Detective Loli, and Catwoman were already waiting on the sofas.

"Everyone is here. Compared to the first two games, this one is quite relaxing. Perhaps after a good sleep, the game will be over. But before resting, let's draw room numbers," Alice said, taking out eight cards, each with a number from 1 to 8 corresponding to the rooms.

Alice sat on the crescent-shaped sofa and spread the cards on the stone table before her. The table's surface was shiny and pitch-black, likely made of obsidian.

"I forgot to mention, the lower the room number, the better the facilities," Alice added, signaling the start of the draw. The bespectacled man went first, followed by Pi Pang and the others.

Su Xiao usually disliked such random draws, but his luck attribute had permanently increased by 1 point at the end of the first game.

His original luck attribute was 1 point, which increased to 2 points with the passive effect of the Fate Redemption (Purple Quality) equipment. With the recent game's boost, his luck attribute stood at 3 points.

What does a luck attribute of 3 points mean? Su Xiao was unsure, but 2 points seemed like they needed to be more impressive.

Taking a chance, Su Xiao drew a card and saw the number 2. This meant he had drawn the second-best room, an impressive stroke of luck for him.

"Brother Bai Ye, good luck," the eldest of the National Football Brothers said. They had interacted with Su Xiao on the first floor, so calling him by his code name wouldn't arouse suspicion. ⱤÃŊö𝐁ĚⱾ

"Not bad," Su Xiao replied, feeling a change in his luck. Thanks to the Fate Redemption, he didn't need extraordinary luck, just slightly above average, to become fortunate.

"It looks like my luck is good, too," the detective, loli, said, revealing her card with a 1 on it.

The group didn't hide their results, knowing it would be apparent when they entered their rooms. The final results were:

Detective Loli - Room 1

Su Xiao - Room 2

Pi Pang - Room 3

Bespectacled Man - Room 4

Eldest National Football Brother - Room 5

Catwoman - Room 6

Second National Football Brother - Room 7

Third National Football Brother - Room 8

"How about we trade? Don't you feel this is awkward?" the eldest brother asked Catwoman.

"This is fine," she replied, flipping the number 6 card, indicating her room was sandwiched between the brothers'.

"Don't regret it," the eldest brother smiled, showing his thumb, but it wasn't a threat.

"I won't," Catwoman said, smiling back, but regretted her decision just five minutes later.

"Everyone, go to your rooms and rest," Alice said. She didn't have a room but stayed in the living room. The eight players entered their respective rooms.

Su Xiao pushed open the door to Room 2, a heavy iron door that gave a sense of security.

The room was furnished with a soft bed, a private shower, and a bathroom. In one corner stood a tall wardrobe.

Though the furnishings were simple, the heavy iron door had seven locks of varying complexity.

Su Xiao locked all seven and sat on the bed, still unsure of the third-floor game's content.

Glancing around the room, he noticed lines of text on the ceiling, written in various colors with different materials like carbon pen, carvings, and blood.

"Alice is left-handed."

"Alice hates the smell of musk."

"Alice is a gentle woman; to be precise, she has no concept of good or evil."

"Lock the door, though it doesn't mean much; it offers some psychological comfort."

"These rooms aren't soundproof. Try pressing against the wall to hear other rooms."

"Familiars can't be trusted. Only servants or higher-ranked followers can be."

"Don't enter others' rooms before exchanging room cards. Never do it."

One message in blood particularly caught Su Xiao's attention:

"To the players after me, don't trust anyone in the third-floor game, even if they are your closest friend or lover. Tell them not to trust you either. This is a life-saving message. In the third-floor game, strength is the only truth. Alice's clones are not unbeatable."
