Chapter 17: Klein Where Are Da Huzz?

Chapter 17 – Klein Where Are Da Huzz?

The Magic Academy was even more massive up close. As Phyro and Klein stepped past the towering iron gates, the sheer scale of the place hit them. Grand halls lined with marble pillars stretched across the campus, while students in robes and armor bustled about, chatting, casting minor spells, or simply showing off. The academy was a world of its own, filled with the ambitious, the talented, and, undoubtedly, the arrogant.

"Alright," Klein muttered as they walked up the main path. "First things first—we need to find our dorm."

Phyro, however, was not paying attention. His crimson eyes darted between groups of students, particularly the female ones.

"Bro, there are so many cute girls here," he whispered, nudging Klein. "This might be the best decision of my life."

Klein rolled his eyes. "We're here to train, not for you to get rejected by every girl in the Academy."

"Rejected? Please." Phyro smirked, straightening his coat. "I've got charm, I've got skill, and—"

Before he could finish, a tall girl with silver hair and sharp green eyes brushed past him, completely ignoring his existence. Phyro froze mid-sentence.

Klein smirked. "Yeah, looking real smooth there, Casanova."

Phyro coughed and quickly recovered. "She probably just didn't see me. I'm twelve, so I'm still kinda short."

Klein gave him a deadpan stare. "Yeah. That must be it."

Moving In

After asking for directions (and getting lost twice), they finally found Dormitory Hall C, where they would be staying. It was a massive, castle-like building lined with wooden beams and glowing mana lanterns. Inside, students bustled about, carrying luggage, greeting new roommates, and setting up their rooms.

Their assigned dorm was Room 214, a spacious room with two beds, a wooden desk, bookshelves, and a window overlooking the Academy's training grounds. Klein wasted no time tossing his bag onto his bed and stretching.

"This is actually kinda nice," he admitted. "Way better than I expected."

Phyro plopped onto his bed and grinned. "Yeah, but it's missing something."

"Missing what?"

"Girls."

Klein sighed. "I regret sharing a room with you already."

Just then, a knock came at the door.

They opened it to find two students standing outside—one was a tall guy with dark brown hair, dressed in a casual academy robe, and the other was a shorter kid with glasses, who looked like he'd rather be in a library than a dorm.

"You two must be new," the taller one said. "I'm Ronan, second-year. Just came to welcome you guys."

The glasses-wearing student adjusted his frames. "And I'm Felix. First-year, like you guys."

Phyro grinned and extended his hand. "Phyro. And this is my brother, Klein."

As they shook hands, Ronan gave Phyro a once-over. "Wait… you're the kid they were talking about. The twelve-year-old 'Prodigy'?"

Phyro smirked. "You've heard of me?"

"Dude, everyone's heard of you," Ronan said. "A twelve-year-old getting into the Academy is crazy enough, but apparently, you're also some combat genius?"

Felix pushed up his glasses. "If the rumors are true, I'd be interested in seeing your abilities firsthand."

Klein crossed his arms. "Well, we'll be having combat training soon, so I guess you'll see soon enough."

"Speaking of which," Ronan smirked, "you two might want to hurry. If you're late to your first class, Instructor Greaves will personally make sure you regret it."

Phyro blinked. "…That doesn't sound good."

Felix shuddered. "It isn't."

First Class – Combat Training

The training grounds were a massive stone courtyard, with sparring rings scattered throughout. Students lined up in front of a towering instructor—a broad-shouldered man with a scar across his jaw and arms like tree trunks. He radiated sheer authority, and the air around him crackled with suppressed mana.

Instructor Greaves.

"Listen up, maggots!" Greaves barked, his voice booming across the field. "This is combat training. You will fight, you will bleed, and you will learn. If you don't, you'll be sent home in pieces. Understood?"

The students stiffened. "Yes, sir!"

"Good. We're starting with a basic assessment. One-on-one sparring. Let's see what kind of warriors we have this year."

As the matches began, Phyro watched carefully. Some students were skilled, executing proper form and technique. Others were sloppy, barely able to hold a stance.

When it was finally Phyro's turn, Instructor Greaves glanced at his name on the list and raised an eyebrow.

"The Prodigy, huh?" He crossed his arms. "Alright, let's see if you're as good as they say."

Phyro stepped into the ring, his opponent being a cocky-looking second-year with a spear. The upperclassman smirked.

"You're just a kid," he scoffed. "Try not to cry when you lose."

Phyro just grinned. "Try not to blink."

Greaves signaled the start.

The moment the whistle blew, the second-year lunged forward with his spear—fast, but not fast enough.

Before he could react, Phyro had already moved.

With a swift sidestep, he dodged the spear's thrust and closed the distance instantly, appearing right in front of his opponent. With one well-placed strike, he knocked the spear out of the guy's hands and swept his legs out from under him.

The second-year hit the ground hard.

The entire class went silent.

Greaves narrowed his eyes. "…Fast."

Phyro stepped back, brushing imaginary dust off his coat. "Told you not to blink."

The students murmured among themselves, some impressed, others annoyed. Felix adjusted his glasses, intrigued, while Ronan just laughed.

"Alright," Greaves grunted. "Next."

Klein was up next, and while he wasn't as ridiculously fast as Phyro, he still put up an impressive fight against his opponent, using precise movements and quick counters to win his match.

By the end of the session, it was clear:

Phyro was a monster in combat.

Klein wasn't far behind.

As the students left the training grounds, Ronan walked up to them with a grin. "Well, I think it's safe to say you two just made a name for yourselves."

Phyro stretched. "All in a day's work."

Klein sighed. "Great. Now everyone's going to be watching us."

Phyro smirked. "Perfect. More chances to impress the ladies."

Felix facepalmed. "I give it a week before you get slapped."

As they laughed and headed back to the dorms, Phyro couldn't help but grin.
