Reincarnated to Bonk in Another World

Chapter 52: Hero for Benefit

"Moving on to the last three: Magician, Healer, and Ranger."

[I am sure that you are aware that you have become a Magician, right?]

"Yes. I learned two spells, but was that all it took for me to become one? This sounded like an easy job to acquire…"

[No. If you want to become an official Magician, you need to get ten spells. Even if you get ten 1-Star spells, you need at least 500 Bonk Bites. Unlike Warrior or Scout where you only need to do a repetitive task, this one requires so many resources.]

"Yes. I agree. It's like the Villager one. To construct the Horny Jail, I need to have a house to live in. Now that I think about it, if I rent a place, can it be counted too?"

[Yes. But you still need the Villager Job to turn it into a Horny Jail.]

"Understood." Albert nodded and asked, "How about Healer?"

[To become a Healer, you need to know how to heal. In other words, you need to learn a healing spell and 'heal' 30 people before you can get the official title.]

"I see. That's understandable. I can do that." Since the explanation was pretty simple and on point, Albert continued to the last job. "And last but not least, Ranger. Can I use a bow later? No… A gun? Maybe I will shoot a mini Bonk Bat that acts like a bullet? Or an arrow bat? If this is true, it's gonna be hilarious."

[Bow and Crossbow are possible. The arrow will be Bonk Bat, but it will be adjusted according to your weapon… After all, Bonk Bat will be your one and only weapon. Even if you require another weapon, as long as you pair it up with Bonk Bat, you can do it.]

"Well, does that mean I can just attach a knife to my Bonk Bat? This will allow me to do various things."

[No, that's not how it works.]

"This is hard. I don't understand." Albert sighed. "Whatever. I think I will get this job later."

[Do you want me to give you a mission for them? This can summarize our conversation.]

"Yes, please." Albert agreed without hesitation. In that instant, seven missions appeared before his eyes.

Mission: Learn a work related to the village's labor (0/1)

Reward: Villager Job (Adjustable)

Mission: Get a disciple or subordinate (0/1)

Reward: Leader Job (Adjustable)

Mission: Defeat 500 enemies (214/500)

Reward: Warrior Job (Adjustable)

Mission: Learn 10 spells (2/10)

Reward: Magician Job (Adjustable)

When he reached this point, Albert widened his eyes and said, "Well, I have expected this, but it seems defeating enemies means Bonking and Killing Normal Enemies, right?"

[Yes. However, they can't be overlapped. If Bonk is enough to defeat them, then it's acceptable. If you kill them in one swing, you're good too.]

"I see. That's understandable. Although Lustville Town is special and allows me to bonk many people, I think I am able to become a Warrior within a month… So, yeah, it won't be a problem for me."

Albert paused for a moment before taking another look at the last three jobs.

Mission: Prevent 200 creatures from sneaking up on you (60/200)

Reward: Scout Job (Adjustable)

Mission: Learn a Healing Spell and help 30 people (0/30)

Reward: Healer Job (Adjustable)

Mission: Defeat 50 People from 500 feet away (0/50)

Reward: Ranger Job (Adjustable)

"Well, I can do it with 200 goblins to get the Scout Job, but I think it will take too much time." Albert paused for a moment. "Anyway, it's not going to take too long for this.

"As for the Healing Spell, I will try to find one later. I know that the Succubus Queen is most likely to have endless lust like Alisa. In that case, I need medication to deal with her.

"After all, I don't want to be targeted by a pervert." Albert let out a long sigh, unaware he had been targeted this whole time.

"As for the Ranger Job, I will consider it later. Even my Bonk Arrow can't reach that far.

[That's a wise thing to do.]

"Oh, Bonkey. Do you have any tips for this?"

[No. Choose whatever you like. You can focus on a single thing or just take any opportunity to get closer to your goal.]

"Fair enough. How about the benefit? Do I get something if I get an official job?" Albert asked with a serious expression.

[Unfortunately, I can't say anything regarding the reward. Though, I can show you only one example. Is that alright?]

"Yes."

[What job do you want to see?]

"Magician then."

Suddenly, a blue screen appeared, revealing what kind of bonus he would get if he got the job.

Title: Bonk Magus

Effect: Reduce the usage of Bonk Bites for every skill or spell by 10%.

"Seriously?" Albert widened his eyes. "Wait a minute, how about my current spells? Are they gonna cost less?"

[Unfortunately not. We need to round the number.]

"So, 2.5 Bonk Bites will cost me 3 while 2.4 Bonk Bites will cost me 2?"

[Yes.]

"Well… That's a shame, but I guess it will be useful later. I mean, if I learn more powerful skills and spells, that will cost a lot of Bonk Bites to use. So, getting some reduction is good."

[Yes.]

"Okay, good enough. It certainly makes me anticipate what kind of reward I will get from other jobs." Albert smiled. "I am relying on you, Bonkey."

[Yes.]

After finishing their conversation, Albert didn't open his mouth anymore as he walked on the grassland for another five hours.

When he started getting bored with the scenery, he found something special on the horizon.

It was a small plain that was located near the grassland. Reaching this place meant there were only eight hours left to reach the road. This also indicated that he didn't get lost in the grassland even without markings.

Happy with this small finding, Albert continued.

He soon got bored again, wondering what he could do to fill his time. In the end, Albert talked a lot with Bonkey, especially about his past life.

He wanted to know what kind of mistake he had made in the past and thought about them, making sure he didn't make the same mistake again.

Eventually, another four hours passed and the heat started to rise. It was only two hours away from the sunset, so even Albert began sweating a little.

Still, Albert held on and continued until the sky turned dark.

Albert's feet weren't that tired, so he continued for another two hours before he eventually reached his destination.

In the middle of the grassland, he found a 50 feet wide dirt road.

Although there was nothing he could find on the road like this, he felt happy, knowing his journey was a success.

All he needed to do was to follow this road and he would arrive at his destination in a few days.

Still, walking alone for so long was indeed challenging. His physical ability had increased drastically, but the time used for the journey made him bored, especially without a game or another person to talk to.

As soon as he reached the road, he sat down in the middle of it and laughed.

"Haha… Now that I have experienced it myself, I kind of respect those who are traveling around the world with nothing but a map on their hand.

"We certainly don't know whether we're going in the right direction or not. And after walking for some time, you get bored and start doing whatever to fill the time.

"Luckily, I have Bonkey with me or I may have started talking with an imaginary friend. Or can I consider you as my imaginary friend?"

[I am not a ghost.]

"Who says you're a ghost? You're my (imaginary) friend."

[So, should I call you Real Host?]

"Ah, I was joking. Don't get mad at me, Bonkey… Though, you're cute." Albert laughed.

[Whatever.]

Albert chuckled for a moment and laid down on the grass. "I hope there's no ant around here…"

When he laid down on the ground, he finally saw the marvelous night sky filled with so many stars.

"Now that I think about it, there is so much stuff I need to deal with every night since I came here… This is the first time I have seen the night sky in this world.

"To think I have missed this beautiful sight for a few days, I don't know what to say. Even on Earth, I haven't seen something like this since they're never visible when you're in the city…" Albert let out a long sigh.

In the end, he closed his eyes while smiling. "Well, it's good to experience this too… Due to my fur, the cold breeze feels like a gentle breeze that soothes my heart. The night indeed calms me down.

"As long as I don't drop my guard while sleeping, I should be able to react, considering I have quite powerful ears that allow me to have a few seconds to react against a monster." He smiled.

Before enjoying the night thoroughly, Albert positioned his bag next to his head so that he could turn it into his pillow anytime he wanted.

"I have a tent with me, but I don't think I will use one for now. I just want to enjoy this night fully… If it's a bad idea, I will use the tent tomorrow." Albert chuckled.

After tidying up his stuff, Albert finally closed his eyes again as his consciousness went blank.

The next day.

The sun had begun to rise on the horizon, warming up the area. The morning dew formed and made Albert's clothes slightly wet.

Although his mind was already awake, he somehow didn't feel like waking up, thinking, 'As expected, no matter what race, waking up is the hardest thing in the morning.'

He ended up sleeping until the sun completely illuminated the area, albeit it was followed by many noises that entered his ears.

Those noises came from footsteps.

"Mhm?" Albert immediately rose from the ground and stared into the distance with fuzzy eyes. He just woke up, so it took him a bit of time to realize there was a group of creatures moving around the grassland.

This was weird, considering he never found a single monster during his journey.

"Why are there monsters here? Is it because I'm around the road? Unlike the grassland, the road is made to be near a water source. This must be the reason why there are living creatures around here."

It was clear Albert was right. He immediately picked up his bag, shook the dirt from his clothes, and summoned his Bonk Bat, preparing to fight.

After that, he learned that the living creatures seemed to be moving away from him.

Feeling relieved, Albert took a deep breath before letting go of his Bonk Bat, albeit this was the part when it got messy.

Albert began hearing rumbling noises in the distance as if something kept hitting the ground with so much power. And the noises didn't come alone. There seemed to be several of them and he knew these things were moving on the road.

"Is there a caravan here? I have heard that there are many caravans crossing this path, so I can negotiate with them to bring me to the nearest town of their destination." Albert thought for a moment. "Still…"

The creatures' footsteps gradually came closer to this so-called caravan, making him wonder what he would do if they met each other and clashed.

"Oh, wait a minute… Can't I help them in subjugating the monsters? This way, I can play a hero card and get their help in the end. This is perfect." Albert smirked.

After being in poverty for too long, Albert didn't get used to helping someone unconditionally, so this kind of thought immediately appeared in his mind.

He snapped his fingers and neck, preparing himself.

"Here we go…" Albert smiled and summoned his Bonk Bat before making his way to the caravan. "Wait for me. I will become a hero that will save the day. Hahahaha."
