Chapter 9: The Saiyan Survivors
The habitable world Vanth, within the Northern Quadrant had become home to the remnant of the Saiyan race. The land had been cultivated by the native inhabitants and it had developed into a respectable Thorpe consisting of twelve saiyans and one-hundred native Bio-Aliens living in modern pre-fabricated capsule dwellings surrounding a large stone castle in the center. The aliens were required to fulfill any request but otherwise were at peace and protected from outside threats should they ever appear.
Prince Vegeta sat at the head of the pecking order with his right-hand man, the super-elite Nappa, governing the Thorpe directly through his two aides Armando and Chicory both of which were also Elite Saiyans. Mid-class Saiyans were respected and given territory while the low-class Saiyans were treated somewhat amicably but had to live under the territory of their superiors. Those of the low-class who impressed their landowner would be allowed to train in that landowner's top facilities for a week.
On this day, the low-born Saiyan, Raditz, had come before Vegeta while court was in session. "Your Highness, the interrogation division has detected a high battle power on a planet which my brother Kakarot was sent to as a child. I believe, your highness, that if we send someone to recruit my brother we will have another pure-blood in your great Demesne which can only serve to benefit your greatness. This can only aid our cause against the tyrannical overlord Frieza. I would like permission to personally lead this endeavor."
"Ah, Raditz. You have served well this past year as Lord Armondo's bailiff. In light of your recent service to Lord Armondo, I will grant your request, however… do not disappoint me in this mission or the consequences could be quite severe." spoke Prince Vegeta, tapping a series of buttons on the throne to open a door on the left side leading off to Hangar Twelve where a number of space pods were stored for use by the Judicial Department which Raditz was a Bailiff for.
"Pardon me, Your Highness," spoke one of the Saiyans in armor, "I believe that my team and I should be sufficient to aid in this mission. Furthermore, if Your Highness would allow it I'd like to request the use of one of the older Jumpmaster Mk4 spacecrafts for the trip. It contains all amenities needed for such a trip and will cut down the travel time from five years to just one. The gravity chamber will also be a great boon in bringing Kakarot's battle power up to par with the rest of us Saiyans."
"Ahh, Sir Scallio, very well since I don't have much faith in Raditz accomplishing this mission alone, you may join him on the task. On the matter of the ship, it is within your right as a Knight of Vanth, so you may do as such. You will have one week to finish preparations and launch, I expect to hear good things with you on this mission." Responded the Prince with a pleased smirk. He made a wave of the hand, to which both Raditz and Scallio left the Royal chamber. As they were leaving the castle, Raditz whispered a thank-you to the Saiyan.
Scallio nodded and headed to inform his girlfriends Cress, Endive, and Okera with the intention to bring them along as well should they wish to. They could certainly make use of the year of Gravity Training. Prince Vegeta turned to Nappa, "Don't you think that this mission would be the greatest opportunity to test out the effectiveness of 'Him'? Prepare for the half-breed to be transported at once, we will test out the usefulness of our little 'secret weapon'. If Scallio and Raditz are unable to recruit or defeat this Kakarot, then Kakarot is to be slain."
"Understood, Your Highness." Responded Nappa, heading immediately from the Castle and towards the prison tower where this 'secret weapon' was being trained in secret. The mid-class Saiyan Leik, prison warden, saluted the arrival of Nappa as soon as he spotted the imposing man, instructing the two aliens to open the prison ward gates. Nappa head inside to complete his objective while meanwhile Scallio had arrived home and spoke with his girlfriends about the task that he had been placed in-charge of.
One week later, the procession arrived within the Judicial Hangar four where the vessel awaited. It was an older ship with a disc-like main hull and a bulbous cockpit protruding forwards. With the pair of Thrustmax II Chemical Engines, the vessel almost resembled a turtle in some ways. Scallio and his family boarded first, followed by Raditz and then Suki the Half-Saiyan. Finally, the long aft loading ramp folded in and the flat terrain underneath formed a ramp. Finally, engines lit and the vessel thrust through the atmosphere.
Those Saiyans present watched until the Jumpmaster broke atmosphere and began charging her Spike Drive. Lines of energy began to form and crackle across the frame, before a giant drill of energy was produced, creating a wormhole in space which the Jumpmaster thrust through. As soon as the vessel was through the wormhole, real space flooded in and sealed the hole. As the Jumpmaster Mk.IV only possessed a rating-one Spike Drive, a single traversal would only cover up to one light-year and drive's recharge phase was not short to say the least.
