NOVEL NEXT Chapter 4: Recruitment of Son Goku
Having arrived to the peak of Mt. Paozu next to an old dilapidated house, the team was greeted by the sight of a twelve-year-old boy with spiked jet-black hair and wearing a light-red gi. The boy stood still with an Orange Bo-Staff held in one hand as Hakurei, Lucian, and Bulma settled down. The Saiyan boy strangely looked to Hakurei, then spoke to them. "Who are you? I don't remember seeing anyone else on the mountain since Gramps died. What… what do you want here? I'm Son Goku, what are your names?"
"My name's Hakurei, but you can just call me 'Rei'. How would you like to leave this mountain and become the first student of my Dojo? Know that if you become my student, there will be danger. But I'll train you up, you'll become strong - strong enough to ensure you'll never again suffer the death of someone important on you ever again." Hakurei said, garnering the immediate interest of Son Goku. First, the boy loved a good fight. Second, Hakurei had promised to make him much stronger. Third, Hakurei told him that he'd never lose another loved one. Goku was sold already.
"Okay, sounds like a great adventure!" exclaimed Goku. He quickly drew back into the old home and began to pack up, meanwhile Bulma remarked on how cute the boy was, resulting in Hakurei crossing his arms defiantly. In truth he hadn't been angry when Bulma made the remark, however thinking instead that if he acted jealous it might just tie the rings of fate about the two even tighter. Bulma huffed and looked the other way, while Lucien just looked extremely puzzled at the situation between the two and exactly what kind of moody stuff they were currently going through.
Hakurei on the other hand had already started thinking on things that would be needed to complete the training for Son Goku. First, he'd need to turn Goku into a decent father that cared for more than just challenging battles. Hakurei would have to go into a full year of turning Goku into an absolute gentleman. He'd also prescribe the boy another year learning from Muten Roshi. Afterwards, Hakurei would ensure that Goku met with Chi-Chi and conceived Son Gohan, as such was a very important event that Hakurei didn't wish to meddle with.
Of course, this meant the only time that Hakurei would really have with Goku to teach him would be during this journey and the one afterwards when the group pre-emptively attacked King Piccolo, which would ensure that they could defeat the namekian tyrant and clean up Terra without risking any deaths such as there were in Canon. Just as Hakurei finished thought and Bulma finished performing diagnostics on her Aircycle, Son Goku would at-last leave the old house and rejoin the group.
"Welcome back, Goku. Okay so... for your first lesson, you will be learning how to fly with Ki. I want you to try and expel ki from every part of your body at once, then once you're midair move the majority of your ki to jettison from your heels. This will allow you to truly fly utilizing Ki, and once you can do this at-will it will directly aid in teaching you to control your Ki which will make you much stronger already. Oh, let me introduce my childhood friend Lucian-kun and my future love interest Bulma-chan" spoke Hakurei with a gentle smile. Bulma did a double-take.
"Woah really! Okay then, I'll give it a try!" exclaimed Goku, attempting to expel Ki out of his body though failing the first attempt to push out the ki evenly so he went chaotically flying and landed firmly on his rear. Son Goku quickly pulled himself up from the ground and rubbed his butt. This time, Hakurei moved close and grabbed Goku at the waist, then chucked him into the sky! Goku wriggled frantically, expelling the ki from his body resulting in absolute chaos. The result was of course that Goku was being sent every which way randomly.
"WAIT A MIN-" shouted Lucien upon noticing that her childhood friend had just thrown Goku as high as a full kilometer. Goku on the other hand was not able to spread the ki which was jetting from his body in an even manner at all, and it didn't help that all he could help was the ground rushing to meet him. Hakurei and looked up, grimacing as he thought perhaps Goku just wasn't ready for this lesson yet and thought that putting the boy into danger would awaken his latent saiyan talent.
Just as Hakurei moved to catch him, Son Goku tapped into instinct and propelled ki evenly causing his form to hover just above the hands of Hakurei. Goku, who had clenched his eyes open, finally opened them again. Goku was surprised to find that he was in-fact not dead or caught by his Sensei safely but rather hovering in-place just above his Sensei. Goku had no idea how he was doing this, but rather than focusing upon that fact, he smartly chose to focus instead on the sensation that was coursing through his body.
"What.... I'm doing it, Rei-Sensei! Look, I'm actually alive!" shouted Son Goku with disbelief. He attempted to experiment with his current situation, resulting in him flying about the peak of Paozu Mountain until finally settling down. Already, the boy could sense a strange feeling coursing through his body which he could not before. It seemed, strangely, that this energy pulsed when his heart beat and strengthened when he breathed in yet weakened when he exhaled. He believed that his sensei had called this strange energy, Ki.
"...You all are something else, i swear." said Lucien with an exasperated sigh. Hakurei winked over to her, and motioned to the ground where five overlaying layers of ki had been formed into five 'ki' cushions and that Hakurei had himself surrounded his arms with ki to break Gokus fall before the boy landed on the cushions. By Hakurei's own calculations, he theorized that only the first two cushions would be penetrated before son Goku came to a soft landing. Picking up the luggage of Son Goku, Hakurei quickly tossed it over to Bulma to capsulized, then dispersed the ki.
"Alright everyone, it's about time we get the show on the road. Goku-san you'll be on my direct left so I can help you get used to utilizing Bukujutsu. Lucien, you can fly freely on my right since I've already taught you fine ki control over the years and you're just as well a flyer as myself." spoke Hakurei, which earned a nod from them all. In tandem, Hakurei as well as Goku burst into the air via Ki with Lucian following quickly and Bulma pulling up the rear due to the dangers that the battles with the Red Ribbon Army would pose.
